Who else is planning not to watch tomorrow?

They can’t even give a coherent reason for the kneeling or what they hoped to accomplish. All they said was for “unity” and yet they chose the most divisive way and worst possible time and place to do it. I got zero sympathy or zero respect for them now.
You’re still ranting about this? Easily offended? And there are literally an uncountable among of more divisive things they could’ve done.

OP started the thread wanting to know....people answered and people got upset that people answered the question.
I didn't want to know Cal or Stoops politics. Nor anybody else on either team. Yet they put it out there for everyone to see.
They made videos. They marched. They knelt. They did. They wanted everyone to know. Well, if you want to make it known, don't get all indignant like Cal when people push back. You created this mess Cal. You did. DO not play the victim or blame the fans. Just be quiet for once. Maybe try that.

They want to use their sacred “platform”, then they need to put their big boy pants on and deal with pushback.

I'm not a big fan of the "look at me culture". I think that is what's making up a big portion of UK's team these days and it is also a big part of the reason why we stink. The kneeling, these increasingly wild ass hair styles, all of that is a sign of attention craving, about being an individual. Before Cal arrived none of this would have been tolerated here. Much like in the military, most of our players looked similar because they all had to conform to a certain dress code. If they wanted to stand out, they had to do so by their effort on the court, not who had the wildest hairdo. All of this stuff is just a symptom of the bigger problem here. And that problem is we've become a program of individuals, not a team.

I fully support disbanding and defunding all police. Then let's see how quick the idiots demanding that back track.....Oh wait, they already have in Seattle, Minneapolis, etc.

Guess what? There are some really bad people out there. Thank goodness there are still men and women brave enough to confront the bad ones. Must be really easy to criticize the split second actions of those in danger when you never have to be in dangerous situations. Key board warriors are so cool.

And yep, I did the job for thirty years so I am not impartial about the profession. If you can tell me who is armed and who is not, while refusing commands, then you need to join the profession and make a difference.

Have mistakes been made? Absolutely. Are there some that shouldn't be officers. Yep. News for you. There are bad teachers, lawyers, accountants, etc. Thankfully the vast vast majority in each of those professions, including law enforcement are quality individuals.

I have met thousands of officers. I know of not one who woke up and said, "Gee, I want to go shoot someone of color today. Yep, that will make my life really fulfilled." You have to be a moron to think that any officer wants to put their life thru absolute hell by having to shoot someone, and especially someone of color.

I wonder how many black lives have been saved by the actions of LEOs because of action they had to take. Those mean racists cops.

Rant is over
Appreciate your post. Thank you for serving.

Great post.

Been going back and forth on it for a couple of days. Disrespecting the anthem is a sore spot for me. I've decided I'm going to do something else during that timeframe tomorrow. Not saying I won't ever be back. But the whole thing has left a sour taste in my mouth.
I’m out

No, because At almost 50 years of age I’m now a Gonzaga fan!!! Unless we do go on a run in March, then I’m back to true blue

Probably watch the 1st half then depending how the game is going I’ll watch the UFC on ABC at 3pm. Then the NFL playoffs afterwards. Cooper might have 30 tomorrow.

Reminds me of my dad. He was in the hospital with high blood pressure for the 95 SECT. The nurses said his BP was too high and he should turn off the UK/Arky game. He looked her dead in the eye and said “I’d rather die than not see the end of this game.”
I can understand your dad's nurses concerns, lol. I think nearly every UK fan had a heart attack watching that game!

My son, who turns 16 on Tuesday, had obviously never seen that game, so we watched it earlier today. He said to me: wow, they really knew HOW to play the game back then dad. I STILL can't believe Rod Rhodes missed BOTH of those free throws at the end of regulation.

To the OP: no, I will not be watching the game on Saturday.

No real interest in watching another train wreck.
I've been to Final Fours, SEC tourney's and lots of big games in Rupp but, right now I really do not want to watch. It saddens me to type those words but, there it is.

Since sports have existed they have been a platform for protest of many different 'causes'.

my dad was army, older brother retired marine, and younger brother is active and flies C130s in the AF.

my grandfathers served and all 5 uncles, whether it be drafted or enlisted. My dad played baseball at UK and then served in Vietnam and lost his brother in that same war. I'm one of very few men in my family that didn't serve. I went to college, played baseball, and then went to work

of those I mentioned that are still alive, none of them have given this anthem protest 10 seconds of their time. They don't view it as a disrespect of the military or anybody that fought for them to have that freedom. That would be hypocritical.

that said, we all believe there is a much bigger problem facing this country in general when it comes to national pride. The last few of generations have had way less, per capita, people serve in the military.

hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men create hard times

this is true over thousands of years. I think that is as true as ever and we are seeing it happen in America. It's a great country but the last few generations haven't truly had to fight for it, myself included. Fighting for something is what manufactures national pride.

gulf war, Afghanistan, iraq, and so on were not wars that 'protected our freedoms" or kept America safe. That is zero disrespect for the soldiers that lost their lives in those wars. They were being soldiers and doing what they signed up for. Both of my brothers served in those and they would say the same. none of those wars were going to determine the path of this country as a ww2, ww1, or those before them

so me and my military serving, diehard UK family, will watch every game, regardless of a message young people are trying to make. While I disagree with that being the way to convey whatever message they are trying to, I respect the right to do so. I certainly won't let it take away the things that mean the most to me

and I respect any of you thst feel differently and choose not to watch. That is what makes us, us. My biggest fear is my 3 young boys are growing up in an America that seems to be losing that pride and that respect for one another's differences, and THAT is what my family fought and died for
Longest post I've written in 10+ years lol

go cats

My problems with kneeling went out the window when the other side attacked the capitol..Neither side of people is any better than the other. They both whine if things don't go their way . .. life's too short to worry about a bunch of politicians that care less about you. I quit the NFL after the kneeling, but after the Covid hit I started watching the NBA playoffs and they were great. I'm all about entertaining myself from now on and will be watching.
So you were ok with blm/antifa rioting, looting, burning, killing, etc all summer and fall??

Why are YOU so bothered about something that bothers me? Have I tried to convince you not to watch? No. This is the problem. You bash away at anybody that has an independent thought. Message board warrior and bully. If my thoughts bother you so much, then don’t read them. You just make yourself look silly on here. How are you related to Cal, anyway?

nope. Would rather call you out

One of the neighbors down the street from me put a garden flag in his yard that says, " Grow Where You're Planted". Sounds like a socialist to me. Done with him!
The tree in my yard dropped limbs on a windy day so I'm going to quit watching it blow in the wind.
A squirrel in the that tree also looked at me funny. I'm not going to watch him anymore either.
I've been a fan of squirrels for 50 years but I'm done!
I see coherent thought is not your strong point.

So you admit to being a troll?
Think we have a much different meaning of trolling. You said that peacefully kneeling during the anthem is the most divisive action the team could’ve taken. Do you want me to enumerate the things this team could’ve done that are multitudes more divisive?

This should have been Cal's response to these pampered crybabies. Educate yourselves. But who am I kidding, Cal doesn't care about education he only cares about the money. Never mind the college experience is something you can never replace no matter how much money you have.

This was from 2016 and Tech now stays in the locker room during the anthem.

False. You get so triggered about anything negative about Cal that lose control and bash away. Worst poster on the board and that is saying something.
No. There is nothing triggering about you. Not sure if that’s your goal, I’m sure it plays a role. The problem I have is this...

I can either give you attention, which spreads ignorance by giving you a spotlight, or I can ignore you which allows you to spread ignorance unabated. I debate these things internally.

I still think you are a troll and just come here to stir up arguments. Not going to work on me, sonny. Go hump somebody else’s leg.
