UL’s banners are gone. Vacated. No màs...first school in history to have a title vacated (@zipp) . Plus we put an a$$ whoopin the hawgs. Shut their fans the hell up really quick.

It’s an awesome day, especially for those of us who post often (which is a LOT of people) we get to make fun of the UL fans/ posters (@KerryRhodes ) for ... ever ? It’s a big dose of karma.

Now my question for the board is ... and be honest, do you think they’re done with the penalties ? Or do you think there are more penalties to come due to mafioso esque FBI probe/ shoe company bribery scandal ?

Secondly, what type of effect do you think this will have on U6 going forward? Will it have a broad and deep level impact? Recruiting , money, donations , national perception ... (@Steelers2012) Or will it blow over in a year or two?

Im not quite sure what to think just yet. However, a big part of me thinks this *will* have a pretty severe effect on UL for the next 5-7 years at least.

https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2017/10/02/might-death-penalty-be-horizon-louisville-basketball

"The NCAA already slapped the men’s basketball program with a four-year probation and gave Pitino a five-game suspension earlier this year, following revelations that a former Cardinals staffer sneaked escorts into university dormitories. The women were paid to strip and perform sex acts on potential recruits, some of whom were underage at the time. The association ordered certain games vacated, including, most likely, the national title.

But the death penalty requires more than a single corrupt coach, or one bad administrator, said Josephine Potuto, former head of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I Committee on Infractions, which adjudicates cases of alleged rule breaking -- a program must be so infiltrated by abuse of the rules as to necessitate it being shut down."

I think if UofL wins their lawsuit against Pitino by proving he was fired "with cause", then it will show a level of corruption by rogue assistants AND the head coach while U6 was on probation. Thus making them eligible for the death penalty. Catch 22 situation, imo. Damned if you win. Damned (and broke) if you don't.

I'm totally fine with this, btw. [smoke]

I don't think there is an NCAA precedent for coaches hiring hookers to "perform" for NCAA college kids, so I don't see how their punishment can be considered unfair.

10 years from now if an assistant coach says, "Hey... let's just get this kid laid and see if he commits" then there is going to be another coach that says, "Dude... remember what happened to UofL back in the day when they did that? The NCAA ripped them a new one."

So hopefully the punishment will prevent that kind of behavior from happening in the future. They got what they deserved, imo.

I don't know how much more will come from the FBI probe. The administration responsible were fired. The kid never played. I do think there is an impact on the program that is huge. Will they ever get back to where they were? No recruits for next season. Coach in limbo. Where do they go from here?

It is very important to Terry Meiners for UK fail and be involved in the scandals. UK has been the program in Kentucky and he just can't handle that internally. It is eating him alive

Throw me an email man. I don't have Facebook. Chose against 13 year old girl platforms after ICQ days.

In the bigger picture,I think there will be more penalties from the FBI/shoe company issue. It was not only UL involved there were several others. Can the NCAA just afford to say no harm no foul in the face of what the FBI uncovered. The media continues to say (like the old Batman t v spoiler) "the worst is yet to come" really, is it and if so what are you going to do about it NCAA?

Wonder if Luke Hancock got the banner? He was staunch about 'nobody taking his championship away.' In the record books they should not only say vacated but 'vacated because UL cheated.'

The sad thing is he used to be a UK fan....right up until his hero returned to coach the strippers

Yeah and I preface this by stating I have a face for radio but that dude is as goofy looking as they come. The only thing I ever liked of his at all was his Joe B skits. A lot of those were gold, especially after he brought on Joe B and they talked voice to voice.... Yeah Larry....
