Western NC in need of help!!!

There's a lot of disturbing information- and probably disinformation - surfacing about that region right now

We rarely approach a topic i feel compelled to avoid
Currently this is one
If you heard it, and if it is about how bad it is, it's true. I live here and have been out everyday this week trying to help people. This is day 15 and i still have no electricity

This is total BS. I live here and FEMA has been here since day one and have been great

That meeting is real and the discussion (which is BS) is exactly like what I experienced when I worked in Higher Ed. This woke DEI BS is in many ways counterproductive to any serious organization.

Really glad it worked out for you though.

Below is the guy leading the meeting.

Good podcast with 2 guys doing rescues in NC. It sounds like fema is very hit or miss. It sounds like politics and government contracts are keeping help out of certain areas in order to make vendors look better.

Other than getting power restored, what would help people in the area the most right now? Is everyone you know accounted for? Are the reports about dead bodies everywhere that still need to be removed true?
I talked to our Sheriff the other day and at that time they had found 9 bodies and still had 5 missing, that they know of. But I know there are more than that. And some will never be found, buried under tons of mud and debris

In some of the more remote areas, power may not be restored for awhile, because the roads are gone (rivers changed paths even) so power trucks can't get to them yet. And there are others whose homes are destroyed or even no longer there may be living in tents, whom even if they have power will have no heat. And as you know it will get cold in the mountains soon (in fact all this week, lows in the 30's).
So portable generators, portable heaters, blankets, winter coats & hoodies.

I have no doubt FEMA is there at places. But we are talking about 1/4 of the state of North Carolina (not to mention parts of TN, GA, SC, VA), HUNDREDS of small towns. FEMA can't be at all of them. Sure they are at Asheville & Boone, probably Chimney Rock and others, but not the smaller more remote places.

I am thankful to hear that. I live in an area that has been hit by back to back hurricanes in two weeks and the recovery is amazing to see. The Governor has this state so prepared for hurricanes the presence of FEMA is not necessary. He moves forward at lightning speed and tells FEMA to stand back and watch.

FEMA works so well with the Florida Disaster Team they approve everything Florida needs in a matter of hours after the request. We are blessed to have excellent leadership in our Governor's office.

May God Bless Western North Carolina, I am sure it has been changed forever.

My grandfather nearly died because of the red cross.

When he was a child, there was a major flood in Paducah and the red cross came in for disaster management. My great-grandfather told them they could come get some extra provisions that he had stocked up. When they showed up, they took everything. My grandfather said his family has no food, blankets, clothes, etc... leaving them with nothing for the winter. He told me many times how that was the worst few months of his life.

He was always a very charitable man, but would never give a dime to the RC. I've held that stance in his honor.

My buddy showed me docs and foia disclosures about that "non-profit" and what they've been up to since their founding. He looked into them because he was donating to them out of his paychecks in different years over a decade plus. They are and have been one of the worst at getting any percentage of actual donations TO THE PEOPLE IN NEED. LESS THAN 10% in many years of their operating expenses went to actually helping anyone. MOST costs are ate up by administration and salaries to top brass.

Your story does not surprise me at all. Their ties to organized, international govt crime and money laundering goes back a long ways, and the Clintons have been involved with them since either the 60s or 70s, which should raise a red flag on its own.

We've donated through some other organizations we trust more, and local organizations and groups that showed us where our donations went. Won't ever give another dime or minute of my time to TARC.

Several years ago I would have agreed, but after my last trip I advise looking at others. A group that works with the RC and goes wherever they are needed is Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. I saw one of their kitchens and it was a very impressive operation.

Thank you for that name. We will look into SBDR as a new org to which we might donate
