It is time for fans to stop believing that every team we play just magically plays so much better when they play us. It just looks like that because we are lousy defensively.

We did get a better game today from A&M. They shot like 29% the last game. Even in warmups it would be hard to shoot that much better unless they just played better today.
They faced a much better defense than they got from us. A&M treated our defense like a pregame shoot around.
I think both can be true. Tell me that Florida guy is banking in a three from half court against Miss State. Combine that BS stuff with Kentucky's MAC defense and you get teams like A&M scoring 90+. Kentucky's defense is just not cutting it.
The intensity most definitely increases when Kentucky comes to town. That's not debatable. Do the Cats get the team's "best shot"? Not always. More than most, though? Yes. No doubt about it.
I love it when fans actually think. Classic deflection by Calipari. Traditionally, over our history, UK goes in as the favorite and then kicks ass, just for confirmation. If you can't coach for that result, you make up shit no ones ever heard before, until Cal gets here. Is it a coincidence that he can't coach that we're subjected to his drivel? I seriously wish he would let the assistants just coach the games ... really do.

They might not get the others teams best but it isn’t from a lack of atmosphere. Everyone circles the UK game and it’s a sell out. Do you think LSU had to deal with that crowd when they beat TAM, no way.
We have the whiniest, pansies for fans. Every team plays its best when they play us and it's just bad luck, refs are always against us and the announcers all hate us.
Whatever gets you through the night. This team has been lousy defensively all season.

They did hit some incredible 3's today. And, they also had some other incredible plays. But, our defense is not good but they played in another world as well.
I mean it's quite literally what happened today. They called in celebs, it was the superbowl for the student section and they made circus shots all day.
I'm not saying we played well, we just shouldn't need to overcome this every road game we have.

We definitely didn’t play great defense but their two guards also hit their share of tough 3’s as well. Last 3 games they combined to go 5-37 from deep and were 9-19 today. We might not have gotten their best but we sure as hell didn’t get their worst. They scored a total of 53 points against LSU a week ago, you think the team played with the same energy then than they did today?
It is called confidence. When you don't respect your opponents' defense, you normally relax and make baskets.
The 2015 team, one of the best ever defensively, had close calls in games like this. We DEFINITELY get the best game from SEC opponents when we're on the road. Combine that with this team having defensive issues, teams are going to give us fits. They all seem to be fighters and hopefully Cal and co push the right buttons and let them know that you have to bring that fight on defense the ENTIRE game.

We are probably one of the worst defensive teams in college basketball. It isn't our opponents; it is us.
It's also interesting that I remember Calipari whining about fans complaint unless UK wins every game by 20. I actually do remember the 20 pt threshold as being somewhat of a regular thing ... it just happened. I honestly think Cal knows he gets outcoached often and comes up with convenient excuses to deflect from his obvious weaknesses. BBN collectively has watched enough basketball for our many years that we will not fall for Cal's blowing of smoke ... yet he never stops because he can't ... too much to selfishly lose.
I will say that Cal struggles to stop the opponents best player in games like this lately.
The first 6 seasons, his teams were MUCH better at making the opponents other players, not their best one, beat him.
Today, like several other times over the past few seasons, we just couldn't keep their best player form scoring. Cal doesn't even try to DENY them the ball.
Adou being out doesn't help because he is our best defender and athlete, but he isn't an MKG.

So the team that was 346 out of 351 in 3-point% just all of a sudden found great confidence from 3.
I recall a time when RP was here, teams were scared to death of us. I don't recall anyone saying that we got other teams best performances. I don't recall those comments when Tubby was here. Why? Their teams played hardnose defense. That is just an excuse to attempt to explain why our defense is so lousy.
You really think all 37 threes the two guards took the last 3 games were all just defended better than we were able to do today? I don’t think so. We have to improve defensively but still there is some bad luck involved as well with them just not missing.
That makes more sense than believing our opponents are magically able to play better against us than a host of bad teams.
When Kentucky plays teams, their averages go up. Players that shoot 50% from the free throw line will hit 90% that day. Teams that shoot 35% from 3 point land will shoot 45% that day, fact. If I’m Buzz Williams I chew them out because they don’t play that way every game. Also today I thought they were allowed to be more physical while we were called for fouls for the same thing. They rode us down the floor several times and were over the back a lot for rebounds today. There were times though when we had three guys there and their one guy got the rebound, that’s on us.
1992 UK played Pitt on Thanksgiving weekend and they had a Big White dude that scorched us and we lost in Rupp. Pitino couldn't stop him.
The Crispin brothers came into Rupp and BLISTERED the nets and beat us.
Dwayne Wade and Marquette beat us in the Elite 8 in 2003 and then the next game played like CRAP and lost in the Final 4.
Those are just 3 instances.

It isn 't magic. It is turning it up and playing like there is no tomorrow. Adrenelin and intensity wins a LOT of games. We often see a highly talented team come out flat and lose to a lesser opponent. Why is it so hard to accept that teams play UK like it is the Super Bowl??

And all the incessant whining EVERY GAME about the "officials stole from us". Execute the game plan, if the dog sitter has one, play defense like you're supposed to, put the ball in the hands of guys who should have it, in specific situations, and things like that are much less likely to happen. Like you, I don't remember any team wanting to take the court against us when RP was here. We exploited every team with great scouting and coaching, and ran the teams out of the gym who should have been run out of the gym. Then we got people saying "hey, hold your chin up, no biggie".
Credit to Buzz for targeting this game and having his team ready. Cal also coached a hell of a game but he’s got to get these guys to quit getting beating on straight line drives.
And last year's team, and the one before that. etc etc. There is a lazy $9 million a year common denominator from year to year and it isn't the players. Kentucky has not gotten better on defense from the 1st game to the last game of the season in years.
I want everyone to go to espn right now and just look at the top 25 scores . All the ranked road teams barely won or lost .

Some UK fans are exceptional at explaining away this BS defensive performance that Cal rolls out game after game. Cal's teams suck at defense and all of the nonsense offered for why teams perform better against us vs other teams is comical.
