We get everyone's best is a fallacy!

You suck if you don’t believe it true, come on how many times is there some sort douchebag out for when uk comes to town?

Bad thing is the team plays hard. They try to defend. If they could they would.
15 games in or whatever I think it's time for Tubby Smith matchup ZONE.

If you think A&M plays like that against everyone then you haven’t watched any other games they’ve played this season.
You obviously haven't watched how other teams play defense and rebound.

I’ll eat crow if I’m wrong, just feels like this is setting up to be another year of winning absolutely nothing. No reg season or tourney championship and an early flameout in the ncaa tourney. Their defense is so bad it just spells trouble

This team didn't work that hard on defense today. More often than not, they were standing flat footed and didn't provide much help defense. They stood around looking for someone else to get the rebound. There was one good example late in the game when DJ went to the floor after a loose ball while Reed was standing and watching instead of helping to fight for the rebound. Sometimes, they are too focused on running out for the fastbreak instead insuring they get the rebound.

It is time for fans to stop believing that every team we play just magically plays so much better when they play us. It just looks like that because we are lousy defensively.

You are 1,000 percent correct....it is not the other team always having a career day....it is plain and simple poor defense...time for the fan base to face reality and stop complaining. Defense wins games....offense often produces close losses.

I think this is a both things are true situation.

Our defense made it easier for them. But we've had better defensive teams and still had teams go nuts against us.

It's human nature to "show up" more for big games/opponents. It's also human nature to be less fired up for less quality/talented opponents. We always talk about how we're worried the guys may overlook some lesser opponent in between big games. We talk about college and NBA players that shine the brightest in the biggest games.

To add a layer, teams usually have way better turnout for the Kentucky comes to town game than other games. The crowd fires the players up more. They make it more hostile for our team.

You can say TAM played out of their asses, making us their superbowl, while ALSO saying we didn't execute well or had great coaching. Both can be true.

The problem is that you shouldn't have to be perfect to win games. You CAN have individual guys not perform well and have coaching mistakes. The problem is when these teams treat us like their SuperBowl, it leaves almost no margin for error. TAM played like a top15 team AND the refs handed them a ton of points. Hard to come away with a win when that happens.

Tennessee sure wasn't perfect yesterday. They had to pull one out of their ass. If Georgia pretended Tenn was UK.. the vols probably lose. That's the difference, and it's for sure worth a few more losses.

Well I disagree and agree, we are marked on everyone's calendar especially when we are ranked, teams tend to sell out their home games for UK but yes we can't guard a fire plug one on one.

The pressure of playing a superior opponent is supposed to be intimidating and not confidence invoking. Opponents play well against our defense because it is about as simple and easy to beat as a defense could be. Because we don't switch defenses, our opponents don't have to spend any time trying to figure out how to beat it. It would be real nice if at least once Cal would cause a little confusion with the opponent by coming out of a timeout with a defense totally unexpected by the opponent.

We did not play good D because we are predictable, Cal uses one D man no other, so teams can prepare for without any problems but saying that the way AM hit 3s last night they could have beat any team in the world.

It’s true we do get everyone’s best. Cal just likes to pound that into everyone’s mind to get us off the trail of this coaching deficiencies. Cal has just brainwashed so many in this fan base now that the man just doesn’t do any wrong and there is no way that he’s replaceable.

UK was UK before Cal and UK will be UK after Cal is long gone!

Well look at there past 50 point games and their normal 3 point averages
I love it when fans actually think. Classic deflection by Calipari. Traditionally, over our history, UK goes in as the favorite and then kicks ass, just for confirmation. If you can't coach for that result, you make up shit no ones ever heard before, until Cal gets here. Is it a coincidence that he can't coach that we're subjected to his drivel? I seriously wish he would let the assistants just coach the games ... really do.
we were NOT
a favorite in this one

... we were the favorite against UNCW, in RUPP ... double digit. None of what others have to say means that much to me, pundits, odds makers, and especially Cal. He just runs his mouth until people get tired of questioning him. He has no answers ... but plenty of excuses.

What was the line on this one?
Close to even?

Game went into OT?

It seems to me like based on UK rating and Texas AM rating this game basically played out how the ratings suggested it would.

The truth is that SOME teams we get their best. But we don't get it any more than any other team.

You obviously do not go to away games in the SEC. I am also taking a guess that you nothing about tee shirts sales as well.

We are every team’s Super Bowl. Always have been. Always will be.

Anyone that doesn’t know that is not a UK fan.

Without picking sides I'll say there's nothing worse than a loss and then coming here to see some of the back and forth between straight dopes. Between the excuses and the blame it's to the point where this board should only be read for comedic relief after the losses

It’s been that way particularly in the SEC since its founding since 1933. If you study history, the facts prove it is no fallacy.

I agree, or if we just played a good ole fashioned man to man where there is a team defense philosophy, there is no help defense when a man gets beat, are any of what I was taught in college and high school on how a team plays it's man to man. As much as I hate him, Bobby Knight teams played great team man to man defense, maybe Cal should find some tape of those old IU teams or even Joe B's teams back in the 70's.

The funny thing is, the cal detractors are using this as some sort of proof that Cal isn't any good.. when this is a problem that would exist regardless of him. The next coach that comes here is going to have to deal with the same thing. If Dan Hurley comes here, he'd have to deal with Texas AM treating this like the last game on earth.. when teams like Creighton and Butler are pretty "meh" when Uconn comes to town.

If your good enough it doesn’t matter what other teams do or where you play

See 1996 and 2012

I mean, 2012 is actually a great example of when a team made us their superbowl: Indiana.

They celebrate this game like they actually won something for it. It was quite literally, their superbowl.

A&m played the best game they could and barely won on a neutral court they lose by double digits.

Yep. Too much emphasis is put on beating UK instead of treating being steady and ready for each game. Historically this is why SEC teams that are good struggle on the tournament stage…the exception being Billy’s two teams at Florida

Honestly I think too much is made of this.

Yeah teams get up for highly ranked teams. It happens with all highly ranked teams tho lol.

What are the records of the teams the next game after they play us?

I'd venture to guess similar to the records of the teams that upset the Dukes and Kansas of the world.

It's like in the NCAA tournament when upsets happen. Like 95% of the time they play awful next round and get bounced.

This definitely does not just happen to UK is the whole point here.

Did we lose to Texas AM because they played out of their minds or did we lose to Texas AM because given the two teams strengths and weaknesses the line was essentially even and it was always going to be a 50/50 game.

Texas AM did exactly what they have done all season long. They rebounded 46% of their misses on offense. They had 25 offensive rebounds. Coming into that game tho, they were the best offensive rebounding team in the nation. So it was expected.

They played to their strength and we couldn't stop that and that's why we lost.
