Wallace and Toppin did it right.

The NBA deadline to withdraw from the draft is May 31st. It has always been May 31. At that date we will know all 3 of our guy’s situations and there will be an influx of guys available in the portal, and potential transfer will be able to see clearly where they fit in on this roster. I’m not sure why people are freaking out in the middle of the process.
Frosty and his canned statements in support of this sinking ship of a program. Really anyone defending cal at this point is a cal fan not a UK fan. I promise you next years champs roster is very close to set and they aren’t sitting on 7 players right now. Frosty 2/3 of the transfer talent is off the table which means we will end up with scraps. It’s unacceptable. We will have a team of children playing a man’s game next year. It kinda feels like 2020-2021 tbh. Strong recruiting year with a weak class of which we have to depend on to compete. What could go wrong????

my gripe us the three guys on the fence are not getting drafted...its over..its been over for those three....none of your last day workouts are gonna change that....make your decision and be done with it....IMO what all three are doing is rude to UK and Cal...just my two cents

I said things can change and they probably will. FWIW, I'm not the only one lamenting over this. National "analysts" have wrote about it. So you are happy with where we are at the moment?
If things will probably change, why freak out right now? National analyst said Dillingham would never be eligible, Aaron Bradshaw was going to USC, and we have mediocre facilities. It’s almost like they’ve tapped into BBN negativity and know how to get quick easy hits for their sites.

Fair enough,I get what your saying but I also look at what's best for the program.Waiting on 3 players to decide shouldn't shortchange the roster when we currently have only 7 players..There is room to add 3 more players while we wait. Now some will say players won't come knowing that our 3 are still deciding..that's why you make no promises, tell players straight up that competition will decide minutes, nobody is guaranteed a starting spot and how you perform in practice will decide things. We have 13 spots..why can other power 5 schools fill theirs but we go shorthanded and then injuries hit and the team suffers.
I would go with the 5 new studs instead of the 3 role players and/or any new portal. Hope we get all 3 back but would be happy with one. There will be others available next week. I think should be a limit of one transfer in your college career, or this portal thing will continue to change college basketball. To expect team loyalty from a transfer is naive.

Expecting team loyalty from a player you recruit is naive anymore. We sure as crap can't keep em

Bonding time? No one has bonding time right now because school is not in session and no one is on campus. Again, I have to laugh if you honestly think we’ll start the season with 7 players.
The freshmen move in either this week or next. So yes, there should be bonding among the players soon since our first game is 6 weeks away.

You're saying that everyone who enjoyed college hoops and liked the way it was before NIL is backwards thinking? Sorry, friends, not going to exchange insults with you. No one's advocating for participation trophies.

Yes I do because its never coming back. People have to adapt with the times or get left behind like calipari and Barnhart are with NIL.

Human nature I reckon? Like I said earlier, we are less than 7 weeks away from " some sort of competition" and we only have 7 guys on the roster at the moment. Why would we wait this long, knowing we have games in July, to field a complete roster? I'm not questioning your fandom, but it's a legit concern.

We’re not even practicing yet. There are no players on campus. The deadline is the 31st, the coaching staff knows far more than anyone on this board, Kyle Tucker, Trilly Donovan, or any of the “I’m hearing” twitter “experts”.

Left behind with the number 1 recruiting class in the country. Left behind by Kansas and their sandwiched between Liberty and East Carolina 72nd ranked football recruiting class. Make it make sense.

Left behind in winning anything that matters on the court. Win the SEC or make a final four.

Yeah when they get back with a middle finger up don't do the University any good. If they don't wanna be here, they know where they parked, Hit the Interstate and find kids that appreciate the chance to play for a prestigious school like UK. I'm not sure how it will playout, but I know it's a shitty business model.

I would strongly disagree. I say the Cal haters are not UK fans. Just haters.

They must live terrible lives. Always whining about everything.

I have heard of capitalist, but athletic scholarships were intended for athletes who could perform well on the court and off. NIL was never part of the plan. So if you want professional money, then get lost while you earn that money. College athletics was never designed for what we're seeing. Anyone who would try and argue otherwise hasn't been around long or they don't have what I call good principles.
As long as I have watched college BB I can say, without any doubt, that most of these kids could have never gotten into college and earned degrees by their academic merit. Regardless of the original intention, it has simply never been reality that the majority of the kids who go to major D1 programs to play BB or FB would truly succeed in the classroom. I would LOVE to be set straight if I am wrong on this.

I am concerned but not losing sleep or in panic mode about our future at this point. I had to laugh at the thread in which it was posted that Pilgrim thinks Reeves is gone and posters melted down like a group of 2nd graders being told that they weren't getting recess today. At the very least, can't we wait until after the 31st to start cryiing???

Then they've been lying all this time, or they need to do away with scholarships. Pick one.

Then I will get left behind. If all you've got in the end are what's important to you, then you've not lost anything. I have no respect for anyone who's willing to cast aside his own morals in favor of success.

Some people just believe in the free market and players being able to profit off of their name image and likeness.

Their future is supposed to be to their education. That's what school is for, and their athletic scholarship is given with the hopes that they'll do their part to bring success to the program. At UK that's supposed to mean titles. Not sure how I'm the world that got perverted, and why this perversion is okay with fans.
Their future is their education? Frankly, that's not why most of them came to Kentucky. Maybe to some extent but there are a lot of useless degrees out there and if these kids can make hundreds of thousands or even millions playing basketball, with proper money advice, that is "their future".

If someone was in a computer engineering program and Apple or Google offered them hundreds of thousands or millions to leave school early and work for them everyone would praise them for getting hired so early and being a prodigy or genius. I think that nobody would complain about that because they don't cheer for the engineering team.

There are all different kinds of intelligence and all different kinds of genius (academic, physical, mechanical, artistic). Kids are allowed to leave whenever they want to fail or to succeed by capitalizing on their skillset.

Let's not pretend that everyone is on this board to make sure the kids get a proper education.

That is not correct. The NBA deadline to withdraw from the draft is 10 days before the draft. What you are referring to is the NCAA early entry withdrawal deadline.

Wow!!! Players who have applied for early entry have the right to withdraw their names from consideration for the Draft by notifying the NBA of their decision in writing no later than 5 p.m. ET on Monday, June 12.

The NCAA deadline to return and retain eligibility is the 31st.

That is great! Thanks for the clarification. I don't keep up with this stuff much because I don't freak out worrying about the day and hour that an announcement will be made. I quit following recruiting because the news was always so up and down. I've seen threads that build up a particular recruit who may chose UK and then the meltdown when he goes elsewhere. Too much drama for me.

The 31st will be a welcome date just to at least bring some closure for the posters freaking out every day.

We have the #1 recruiting class in the country but we’re not eating? Y’all can’t even say what our NIL model is but we have to change it. Specifically how do we need to change our NIL model? I guarantee no one who bitches about NIL will answer that question.
My concern about UK's NIL model is this: By Cal's own words we do not offer guaranteed NIL monies. Dickinson even said it's "risky" to play here. Yet it's assumed other schools are guaranteeing a specific amount to play at their school. Since we've not added any players to complement our freshman class, our NIL approach needs reevaluation.

You said NBA, not NCAA. Words have meaning on a message board for some reason.
Context has meaning too, learn to apply it. Why would I or anyone else on a college basketball message board give a single damn about the NBA’s deadline? The issue is our 3 players who declared for the draft and can return, I was clearly talking about the deadline to return to college and you clearly wanted to score points with the mob. LOL at how big of a joke you simpletons are. Y’all keep trying and keep losing.

By NCAA rule and state law, all NIL deals have to be guaranteed. There are no incentives. You’re talking guaranteeing money for pay to play. That’s 100% illegal and I guarantee you can’t find any coach who publicly says that they guarantee money. All this comes from the twitter “gurus” who pretend to be experts and claim to know what’s going on when they don’t have a clue.

Let me ask a simple question. Which schools are specifically guaranteeing NIL, how much NIL are they guaranteeing, and where did you get this info?

You'd have to ask Dickinson how much Kansas is paying him. Because he knows. I assume it's not risky for him to play there.

So you can’t say? “It’s risky playing here” is an NIL reference? How do y’all say our NIL policy is so bad but can’t give a single detail about the ones you claim are better?

College is to train students for a profession. High level D1 athletes in the two main revenue producing sports are there to hone skills/bide time until draft day. Athletes with pro aspirations aren’t at any school for the general education requirements. If you believe they are, that’s a very naive stance.

Would you be as mad at a gifted freshman or sophomore Computer Information Science student for leaving school early to accept a high paying job in their field with Microsoft or Adobe? That’s essentially what early NBA and NFL draft entrants are doing.
