I said he deserved it over this one game....... the haters try to say it for his whole career so huge difference there.
and why wouldnt he deserve criticism for this game? If we all praise him for winning tough games...... then why cant he be subjected to criticism for losing a game by 12 to a team who was 1 future NBA player and a bunch of mid major talent ?
And what do you mean the way I defended it? I not only said thank god cal is our coach...... but also made it clear i thought he deserved it for this 1 game only........ Whats my agenda other than saying today was a bad game?

WIS, I have no beef with you, but you need to let this go, dude. You are WAYYYYYY overthinking things and are rightly being called out on it. It's not about whether or not Cal coached this *one* game well or not. It's about your over the top reaction to it.

About this comical thread. Every loss for Cal leads to him getting "hammered" on some form of social media. It does nothing in basketball, but give his haters something to chide him about. It has no effect on his recruiting. Kids come here for the NBA, not FIBA titles.

When you go 25/43 from the FT Line that isn't going to help? That is nearly 20 misses from the FT Line and that hurts. Then you have 1 player scoring near 40 points(38) in Barrett and that was the player that beat us. We have solid 'D' on Barrett and hold him to his average in the tourney which is half of the 38 he scored tonight and hit some FT's and we win this game easy. Barrett beat us today along with missing so many FT's!
If one game in which we lost to an inferior opponent because of crap defense was going to hurt recruiting, we'd have been screwed after 2010 loss to WV.

I think you’re going overboard with the psychoanalytical stuff here. If Coach K has no problem landing top 10 kids after getting his ass torched annually by the likes of Mercer and South Carolina, Calipari will have no problem continuously selling the program to elite kids.
Getting backlogged at UK because some guys who were considered OAD (twins) ended up staying longer is not remotely the same as Cal losing an international tourney. The fears of a fringe OAD staying too long is a legit concern for elite kids. The narrative you're creating is not.
If a kid goes elsewhere because Cal lost the U-19 semis, my guess is that we probably weren't going to land him anyway.
Can't be true. There's apparently a list of recruits out there saying, "Well, NOW I know I can't go to Kentucky under Cal. He lost the U-19 game against Canada!"
Why would any recruit want to play for a man that shields the team from criticism after an international loss? You'd think they'd much rather play for a coach that will publically humiliate them and throw them under the bus at the post game presser.
Which 3 and 4 star guys deserved to play over the 5 star studs the last few seasons?

There's only been two USA titles in that span. They haven't had an annual championship format.
Since 1987, there's been 10 championship tournaments in this format. The USA has won it 4 times in that span, and 6 times overall.
Still an upset and still disappointing, but hardly ground breaking stuff here.
I missed what happened so I'm going by what I have read. It seems team USA lost to team Canada and somehow it's all Val's fault. I remember a few years ago when team Canada had some guy named Jamal Murray that lit up team USA and beat them by himself during the hoops summit game. Anyways, I don't see how this will have any negative impact on cal or recruiting as it's one game and half of those guys won't even be recruited by cal or uk and the ones that are I find it hard to believe they would turn down cal and uk after one unfortunate loss.
The UofL fans are so excited that they have suggested Canada hang its 19U Championship banner in the Yum Center to replace 2013 when it comes down.
Buddy, the only over the top reaction I had was getting frustrated by the couple of people who took what I said way out of context and blew it up just to try and make me look like a cal hater.
Then I said it would hurt recruiting and people WAY over reacted and took it to mean something far beyond what I meant it to... Its like If i said stubbing your toe would hurt and you took it to mean you'd die a horrible slow death... So really who is over reacting here?
Barrett is clearly the best player in the world that's 19 or under. Cal lost because this team couldn't stop the next great player. It happens.
I'd like debating this further but there is no way to defend my stance without people taking it and blowing it out of proportion . I say Cal deserves Criticism and people in their minds take it to mean I'm trashing Cal as bad coach. I say it will hurt recruiting and people take it to mean that we'll have a bad recruiting year. But I do respect you debating it rather than going straight to name calling and insults.

First off... calling you jeffy is not some amazing insult. Its a nick name that you shouldnt even get upset over.
second.. They name called me and i responded. Yeah I probably shouldnt result to name calling back but hell... if you do it to me then be prepared to get the same treatment in return.

So people not wanting Cal to make the same mistakes irritates you? why because people say Cal can make a mistake?
I like him being honest but it brings up the question... Does he not think of these things during the game or whats keeping him from making those changes??
If this had been any of the coaches on our hit list we would have been all over them.

It will not hurt recruiting. He is still the best recruiter in the game. He has blown bigger games than this and he still gets the players.
It shouldnt resonate much but 17 year olds follow basketball and read social media. There is a lot of Cal criticism on social media right now and you never know just how much that could creep into a kids mind.
Its not going to hit us hard..... no way.. Cal's too good but what if K uses this in an intelligent way with Reddish .. just saying over and over again that he wouldnt of lost if K was coaching and points to the gold medals yadda yadda yadda (god i want to throw up typing that) .. I dont know if that would work but I guess it could....... and if it did then thats hurting recruitng is it not?
