Ugghh....Cal getting hammered on Twitter!

We still didn't have some super team. Quick glance at our Roster. We had a total of 6 top 20 players in their respective classes. I couldn't find Diallo's rating on here, but we know he was top 20. So there is 1.
2017 top 20
11.) McCoy
14.) Washington
2018 top 20
3.) Langford (injured)
5.) Reddish
15.)Quickley
The rest of the dudes on our roster were outside the top 30 in their class, so I just stopped looking. The closest one I saw was L. King at #31 in the 2018 class. Did we have the most talent? Yes. Should we have lost? No. But we didn't have near the team that is usually fielded. 6 top 20 players over 2 classes on a 13 man roster is less than average.

I watched some of the 2nd half and I thought the issue wasn't the type of defense they played but how poorly they played it. Honestly, none of them looked like they know how to play defense and most of them didn't give much of an effort. In this game the US had no one who could guard Barrett- Not sure what Cal could've done about that. He took responsibility for the loss unlike K, Pitiner, Self or Ole Roy who would have made excuses.
And yeah Self & the other coaches will sure look great talking about how Cal lost as USA U19 team coach while they sat on their ass at home cause they weren't good enough to coach a USA team.. Sour grapes is always so flattering and impressive.
Plus I'd be willing to bet that Cal got a lot of good recruiting time in with Canada's Barrett. I'd be willing to bet that he and Reddish wear UK blue next year... Wanna bet agaibnst it?

There are a lot of excuses that could be made but in the end... Cal is still responsible for the loss. But I guess people who say that are now the anti christ on this board lol
You've had a history of imploding on here.
Coaching is hard. Sometimes you look like a genius and sometimes you look like a dud and when you're the head coach of basketball at UK you can't hide anything.

what exactly do you define as imploding? and what does that have to do with Cal deserving criticism for a loss?
Most of the Earth, other than us on this board, didn't even know the games were being played. I think both Cal and UK will be just fine.

8 losses is something to worry about unless Diallo and Washington learn how to play through physical defense and shoot free throws. I by no means guarantee it but you're outside your mind stupid if it doesnt worry you.

What a lot don't realize is that the international game is much different than the regular college game. Not an excuse because upsets do happen, especially at this level.
What did he deserve? To lose? Okay.

if you really wanted to try and understand what I was saying.. you would of thought about it for a minute and realized that my prior post saying it would hurt... not kill recruiting meant that if a great player takes it to heart and we have to fall back to lets say 20th ranked... thats still hurting recruiting.

No effect on recruiting ... The issue as usual can be defined by numerous posters on here who suggest Baker will and should get minimum pt because he's not a 5-star. Or in their words "just not ready". Meanwhile we have those saying Diallo is the best 2-guard in the class (despite the fact he can't shoot). And so it goes.
It's not far-fetched to see UK losing a game or two this year with its 5-star athletes doing a lot of brick-laying while its shooters sit idly by (maybe with reps as poor defenders).. And Cal WILL step up and take the blame.
But history suggests he won't change and today's game is just another example in the minds of those who think this way.
Should be a fun year but the plot is not very different from every other Cal year.

Knox got hurt was perhaps the most talented kid on the team. Several recruits chose not to go to Egypt including the 2 best hs kids in the nation for the 18 class
Canadas coach was prolly just licking his chops waiting to throw a zone at cals USA team.

I think this was the 1st game the U19 team lost since 2011. Ouch. Not good.
