Every program that has succeeded under NIL has clear and direct guidance from their athletic departments. So no I will not be giving some random collective my money. There are supposed to be big changes announced by Friday that should include a plan on how they’re going to approach NIL with some of the things we’ve seen at schools like Tennessee taking place. It was nearly too late and Mitch should have been on this faster but things around moving. We should all be excited.

The ncaa just handed out wrist slaps for death penalty caliber violations. They’re dead and they aren’t going to regulate anything. NIL is the Wild West and everyone knew that except Mitch Barnhart. And because of that we were behind. Hopefully we didn’t fall too far behind.

I'm interested in hearing what policy changes are being made. Hopefully this time the media talks about specifics so I, and maybe others, feel better educated about the issue. This mostly felt like arguments that sprouted from older Barnhardt grievances and other previous biases. I don't think it's too much to ask: 1) what can individual fans do to help? 2) what are the specific policy changes? 3) how does UK's specific policies compare and contrast to other SEC schools?

I think that’s been the biggest issue….we are supposed to have someone leading us into the NIL era and instead we had someone who was afraid to touch it.
Funny how everything will now actually move forward even though we were promised all along there was nothing holding us back.

Again, I’d like to hear specifically why was he afraid to touch it and what impact that was having. What was the risk vs reward debate about?
Example: Brown had UT players telling him to come to UT. Got it. But also tell me: was he listening, what was UTs offer, what is he making at UK, what could UK do differently, etc.
I’m open minded to anything or anyone being right or wrong but Id like more specifics. To date it’s been mostly strong language parroted by others who have old biases already like it’s politics.
We will never better understand the intricacies of NIL if instead we just argue about the legitimacy of MB and MJ repeatedly. From the very beginning this effort required more pragmatists and less ideologues to get the most benefit to UK Athletics.

Barion Brown was an elite recruit who could have signed with any program in the country. Matt Jones said we got behind in NIL last summer, somehow we managed to sign several top recruits from Tennessee including Barion Brown but now he can make money at Tennessee but not 8 months ago in February when he committed and signed.

Well see I hope you’re right. My concern is that even if every SEC school had the same amount of total NIL money, a higher percentage of ours would be put toward basketball leaving less for football. Not saying we wouldn’t have any for football just that we might have less relative to other SEC schools and whatever UofL is doing.
