The Ukraine war. (Yes, we'll mind our manners)

As most realize, I quoted Obama's quip in the presidential debate when Romney pointed out Russia was a geopolitical enemy. Obama literally laughed at it and all msm followed.

When exactly did Russia become so dangerous? Sometime after Hillary and co sold him uranium and after everyone lauded the zinger.
Russia has always been dangerous dude lmao

Not according to Obama back then and not according to the uranium deal brokered with Putin. Unless you agree both those positions were insane.

Truth is, we had Russia down and out years ago. Obama slept on the job and let Putin build them back to a respectable power. Everyone knew he should be respected and kept down. Yet they argued it was good to let him rebuild. Even laughed about it.

Would be interesting to have some reporters reach out to them asking if that was a mistake after all. Will never happen of course

Feel like they’re starting to make more advances on the Robotyne front.
I think the attrition has the Russians worn down pretty bad.

Things are going so well on the battlefield that Russia is now launching raids on migrant workers with Russian passports and registering them for military service, more cannon fodder for the front alongside the prisoners. A raid in a St.Petersburg market did just that earlier today, netting over 100 migrants from Central Asia who now can’t operate their businesses.

Putin will eventually have to full mobilize the russian population. Shit will hit the fan when that happens.

I’m surprised it hasn’t happened already, I think they’re getting chewed up in the south.

If they can pressure south to tokmak, the coast line starts to become untenable. And when the coastline is taken, the kersch bridge is coming down.

Putin hasn't did it yet because he and his goons in the Kremlin are still saying it isn't a war. But a special military operation. Him full mobilizing would be him admitting its war. He's backed himself into a corner here.

Vivek is saying what anybody with a brain should be saying. I’ve said it since it started. Creating a Russian/Chinese axis is idiotic policy. But it’s precisely what’s happening.
So what can the West/anyone do to stop it? Must be something if we're creating it.

You realize we aren't actually sending 100 billion to Ukraine correct? The dollar counts are all of our old millitary equipment we are sending in dollar value.

There we're older tanks if I recall correctly

But newer hardware was mixed in - HIMARS is an example - Javelin missiles

Not disputing your post - just noting that it wasn't all older stuff

Thought i saw an article today mentioning F22's being placed within theater?

Could be wrong - im going on zero sleep for 24 hrs

Americas 1980s weapons are still more advanced than just about anything in the world. Excluding stuff like Humvees, and M113s.

We do have some reliable and effective old school platforms

B52s are fm the 1950s
F16s are 1980s
I think the A10s are also 1980s products

Sometimes older designs and technology just works well -

ICBMs are fm the 1970s

Upgraded F18 super hornets -- 1990s?

F15s - 1970s i think

Hell -- now im just naming shit

F22s were deployed to NATO's eastern flank, operating out of Poland, but they're moving back to home base in Alaska. No way we're training/providing the Ukes with F22s.

We won't even export the F-22 because of the secret tech on it. No way we would take the risk of letting one of those get captured into Russian hands.

I believe the Trump admin actually restarted production and lifecycle support of the F22 at some point - because the F35 was supposed to be the next gen ALL-EVERYTHING -- and clearly wasn't

I've only seen one F22 in person before and i was surprised at how large it was - or it had a striking profile or whatever ..: saw it outside of Seattle -- can't remember if its Fairchild or McChord AFB thats near there?

You wouldn't think so

But then again our Marines were ordered to abandon weapons and leave them in operation condition in Afghanistan - so - wouldn't have expected that either

The conflict in Eurasia isn't following a rational rhyme reason or path in many ways

And some of what we're reading as news is just fake - hard to know what's real and what isn't

The US definitely isn't employing any rational strategy that i can tell - unless the strategy is to deplete and exhaust pur military resources and capabilities

Sure would be nicer to see cooler heads prevail and allow the slavic people work out their regional alignment there - while embarking on a new / less globally oriented military posture ourselves

PSSSCHT -- NATO - outdated organization incapable of waging war without near total reliance on US funding and military commitment -

Hell, didn't Germany JUST reduce their financial support to less than charter specific requirements for members?

European nations aren't even defending their own national sovereignty - quite the opposite really

Just seems like they're talking out both sides of their mouth to me -

French President Macron had expressed interest in recalibrating NATO and standing up a truly European/Indigenous military force not long ago

I think they anticipate our economic erosion and perhaps a less robust US military capability in the future and want to prepare for that contingency

lots and lots of major shifts and changes happening around the world right now. -

Fair to add Iran into that mix I would say -
Possibly Turkey as well

but yeah - Russia and China adopted a very real strategic/military alliance about -- a year 1/2 ago maybe?

America won every single battle in Afghanistan until the point the Taliban were living in caves. But Ok.

And yet - similar to Vietnam - we failed to achieve our military goals and stated mission

To oust the Taliban

They outlasted us and we exiled disgracefully

Worse - we abandoned weapons to them and agreed to not touch the poppy fields / disrupt the source of 90% of the world's heroin supply

Failed to create a Afghan army

Longest war in US history & we didn't achieve any strategic objective whatsoever - that whole GD train wreck is truly upsetting - beyond frustrating

Wore out a lot of GI's on continuous deployments -

Awful - all of it

you have to separate Russian history from The Communist Soviet history though

And also its good to remember that there are other nations with longstanding "beef" with Russia that we shouldn't feel its our obligation to shoulder

I don't feel that post Soviet Russia and the US have any logical reason to be enemies

I've read former marines saying they wish they never signed up. These are guys who thought they were going in to stop terrorists and instead were told to guard poppy fields for weeks at a time.

You know I don't remember -

To be honest I go on and off active news consumption cycles

I will not look at ANY news whatsoever for anywhere between 3-4 weeks

Then I will go on a 2-3 day heavy intake of a wide variety of sources and outlets & get a little OCD with it

I THINK you're talking about the balloons that were appearing mysteriously over or near US airspace ?

I remember hearing about it but didn't really look into it or whatever

You are probably right - esp if they were within our western air defense sector --

The F35 was undoubtedly busy being non-stealthy, awkward at carrier landings and disorienting its own pilots with the heads up display -- and possibly waiting on another $2B Lockheed software update ;) [laughing]

And worse

Punishment for interfering with local "cultural traditions" that we would classify as barbaric or sick

F'd up campaigns from start to finish -

Yeah, the China balloon. Shot down off the coast of South Carolina. I wanna say it was the F22.

Although, it could have been the ones over the Great Lakes. I don’t know. Lol

I have NO idea if there's a relationship between the 2 things but the US conducted balloon delivery vehicles for EMP releases - in the 1960s i think

Ironic that we deployed a multi- billion dollar Aerospace kill vehicle ---

To shoot down a balloon

Seems like a bad choice of countermeasure - but then again - life sometimes just drops a logic roofie on everyone's asses
