Specifically from the article I linked... wouldn't we still see the sun? Even if it's not shining on America, you'd still see the sun 24/7 on a flat earth

I really need to quit reading this thread, this dude clearly wants nothing of the truth but wants to stir the pot.

He already told me the Catholic Church (which would benefit from a flat earth that proves god) is complicit in lying about earth. Still waiting on why that makes any sense. If that organization could prove god and essentially topple the government with it, if you don't believe they would you're the most gullible person alive.

You also didn't answer my question as to how in the hell is it possible that every human that's been connected with NASA has conveniently kept quiet about the conspiracy

I couldn't resist clicking on this video after seeing this balloon contraption with a piece of paper attached to it. I laughed hysterically at this guy's newton's 3rd law experiment which I time embedded below

old boy here has essentially made a sail and is surprised that it stops his balloon rocket from moving. Naturally, the expelled air propelling the balloon in one direction is negated by his paper sail pushing the balloon back in the opposite direction.

The guy in the first video in this thread is a f****** idiot. No way he's an engineer. The guy shows his basic math ignorance once the plane starts turning south. The plane is not going 1200 when it starts turning south. Once it turns south it decreases and is at 900 at 90 degrees which is his speed of the earth. I'm not reading through this entire thread.

Ida, these threads are why the internet is fun. you should definitely read it.

So, what was he trying to prove using Newton's third law? Of course that balloon wasn't going anywhere. The propulsion of the balloon wanting to rocket off down the line as the air is released (the action) is negated by the sail he created which wants to make it go backwards (equal and opposite reaction).

I just did some quick math, at 17 miles we should lose 192 feet on the horizon, but the Superdome is 270 feet tall so it would be easily seen across Lake Pontchertrain.

Also asking for a friend, how high in the sky is the sun? I need to know why we can't see it all the time? On a flat Earth it should just go from directly overhead to off on the horizon and it would never be dark.

In the first video the "engineer" says the plane is going 600mph which makes its speed 1500mph relative to Earth. [laughing] What's even funnier is he has just told me he read a book about relativity 3 times. I haven't read that particular book and doubt that I'd want to after seeing its deleterious effects.

Anyone found documentable proof of the curve yet? There is a cash prize if you can produce it.
It's all over the place, you just refuse to accept the answer. Everything you have posted can easily be disproven or explained why it doesn't work by actually understanding science. You can't prove something to someone that doesn't want to believe.

I guess when your faking a curved earth you can't remember everything.

Wow! They used a flat map to show air traffic. Hot damn, call the presses, Bushy Beaver found jack and squat at the same time! That is just a depiction to show he air traffic above the US. You realize all commercial planes have intstruments that account for the curve and rotation of Earth so auto-pilot works, right?

Guys he may be on to something. I mean why else would this be made?

Ask any pilot if they are constantly gaining altitude and having to correct for a curvature.

Planes don't have to correct for the curvature of the Earth. 30,000 feet above sea level is the same regardless of location, direction, or speed.

If the ground is constantly dropping away from you then you are constantly gaining altitude as you travel and you most certainly have to correct for that.

So do pilots take into consideration that gravity is fake and the Earth is continually moving upward? Seems like if you were in the air long enough the Eath would catch up to you.

Yes. One (or more probably) of your videos stated there is no gravity and the earth is constantly moving upward.

Had lunch with a friend today who is a Georgia Tech grad and actually is a helluva an engineer. He's also (proudly) a 9/11 conspiracy guy and believes the earth is around 6000 years old. I showed him this thread and before he made it to the end of the first page he was......

There are two kinds of flat Earthers. People with a surface level understanding of physics who think they're an expert, and people with zero understanding of physics who think that anything too big for their little brain to grasp must be a conspiracy.

LOL, no. They say their in no gravity, because weight, density, and bouancy are better explanations for what we see. IF any of them stated the earth is moving upwards (I don't think any of them did), then that is just incorrect and provably false.

Solid rebuttal. I like your enthusiasm.

The ground isn't constantly dropping away from the plane. The ground doesn't matter to the flight path of the plane. Could be ocean, could be mountain, doesn't matter because the plane is flying at a certain level in the atmosphere.

All of this would make more sense to you if you would accept gravity as a real and constant force.

LOL, physicists don't even have a grasp on physics, hello. What are dark matter and dark energy except theoretical explanations for anomalous observations. String theory hahahaha.

There's a big difference between Newtonian physics, which we've understood for hundreds of years and know the scales and parameters in which it applies, and theoretical physics at universal scales where things like "dark energy" are introduced as placeholders that essentially stand for "there's stuff we don't understand." Not understanding things at a universal scale - and physicists are self aware enough to accept what they don't understand - has not one thing to do with understanding Newtonian physics.

The "best" argument that dumb structural engineer in that video could make was "woah dude, if you really think about it... it doesn't make sense does it? Like, that doesn't work!" You know what we mechanical engineers think of structural engineers? They couldn't cut it as mechanical engineers because as soon as stationary things started moving, they flew right over their heads. Yeah, let's trust that guy to tell us about objects in motion. That's what I mean by a surface level understanding of physics.

Ah gravity, keeps oceans on a curved surface but doesn't keep a bumblebee from flying and NO ONE has ever seen, what it is. And I'm the crazy one.

LOL, the ole' 'I'm smart and they're dumb' argument. Bwahahahaha

Gravity most certainly would keep a bumble from flying, if he didn't beat his wings fast enough or efficiently enough to overcome gravity's force.

What's on the bottom of your flat earth? How thick is it?

I shouldn't do this, but I just have to further understand the why of this. You say that it is in order to deceive people into believing in evolution. However, the 'evolution' that you speak of was not really introduced until Rene Descartes in the 1600s, and further promulgated by Darwin 200 years later. Yet, scientists have believed in a spherical earth since around the 6th century BC. So, why is it that the spherical earth came before evolution? Would it not be the other way around if they were attempting to justify evolution in an attempt to delegitimize god? Further, who the hell is the "they" that first promoted this conspiracy?

So... if this is true where is Middle Earth?

On the other side of the flat disk, of course. We're top Earth. Bottom Earth is under the feet of the cosmic turtle. Tolkein just didn't tell you about the cosmic turtle's shell you could see rising in the horizon.
