Lee has some things that DJ would never have and the things that DJ has Lee will be better than. I think he puts up 12 and 8 with about 2 blocks a steal and 1.5 assist.
That would translate from his numbers last year. About 3 points, 3 boards and a block a game in 11 minutes. But with the team looking decidedly different this year, I wouldn't be surprised if he upped it a little bit. He'll be looked to as a leader more, not RELIED on to score per se, but I think he'll get more opportunities. If he can average 8-10 in both points & rebounds and provide solid D, I'd be more than happy. If he puts up those numbers then we will have one killer squad.
I just can't see him having those kind of numbers.
I'm thinking 5-6ppg, 5-6rpg, 1-2bpg, and 1-2apg in about 20-22mpg.
Those are realistic numbers, IMHO.
It would be nice if would come to UK, but I think hes just waiting on California to make room for him on their roster.
We could use another talented big for sure. I think we are fine with what we have, but one more big body could sure help. As far as Lee is concerned, imo, he will be every bit as good as Stein was this year. I caught myself several times this year, including the Wisconsin game, begging for Coach to play Lee in place of Stein. I really look for Lee & Willis to surprise a lot of people next year. They, along with Hawkins have practiced against some big time players in their time at UK. That has to help. I think the key to us getting to another final 4 is Poythress. He could be our best player. I love having a talented senior on the team.
I swear to Jehovah if Alex Poythress plays more than 2 minutes at the SF spot next year I'm driving to Lexington and personally crapping in a paper bag, setting it on fire, knocking on Cal's door, and running away.
I'll at least break a remote against the wall... maybe a window.
Swanigan is a "want" not a "need" to me.
Right now we have plenty of size and talent at the 4 and 5 spots.
Compare potential 2016 minutes with 2012:
Labissiere/Davis- 32mpg.
Poythress/Jones- 30mpg.
Lee/Wiltjer- 12mpg.
Willis/Vargas- 6mpg.
I see Lee getting more minutes and Poythress and Labissiere probably average a little less. Willis probably averages a little less than Vargas. Poythress gets some minutes at the 3 as well.
Plenty of minutes for our three main 5-star level talent bigs.
Swanigan would be a welcomed addition, but would pose a challenge for Cal to find minutes for everyone.
So he's not a necessity, he would be a nice luxury to have.
you don't wanna know.. Everybody on this forum would eat my lunch and ask I be blacklisted! It's all good though, I know what I did and what you haven't.I'm not really sure why it matters if UK wasn't his first choice? You only want kids who have only wanted to play for UK their whole lives?
As to playing D1, there are a countless number of inarticulate, low IQ, pathetically stupid people who have played D1.
But since you brought it up, who and when did you play?

Oh yes! It's Brian the internet Hard ankle!Brian Poe spot on as always.

Listed at 6'6, 225 lbs.
Matthews is not even 200 lbs. He won't play the 4.
Winslow is 6'4.5 without shoes, and weighs 223 pounds. That's what he measured as at the combine.
Winslow played the PF position when Duke had the success that they did, at that size. He was an incredibly small power forward by the season's end.
Charles Matthews doesn't weigh as much, but he's just as tall, and just as athletic. Matthews is also a better slasher (Winslow can only take it to the hoop with his left hand effectively, Matthews is able to use both hands well).
Matthews' athleticism, height, and slashing ability, as well as his passing ability which is surprisingly good will win him the small forward spot. Matthews is also a very good finisher through contact, and he will be playing college ball, which commonly uses a 3 guard lineup.
We will be perfectly fine with Matthews, and the only scenario he would play the 4 is for foul trouble.
I doubt it will ever come to that (Matthews at the 4), so your point is moot.
Anyone look see on UK Wikipedia lately? At the last roster spot? Lol...

From Matt Jones post on KSR tonight. This has to make you feel pretty good about getting at least one of Swanigan and Murray.
RECRUITING: The big news of the day was the decision by LeGerald Vick (Spanish for “The Gerald”) to attend Kansas next year. It was not a surprising choice, especially after his visit to Kentucky ended up not happening this weekend. For UK, Vick was somewhat of a backup option behind the twosome of Caleb Swanigan and Jamal Murray, both of whom UK would love to add this year. Chances are UK will only take one player and the folks I have talked to feel good about where UK stands with both guys.
To be the most knowledgeable fan base we have some real low bball IQ people.
We have a freshman (Skal), a junior who can't dribble or shoot (Lee), and a 6'7, maybe 6'8 PF coming off an ACL as our only bigs but we do not need a 5 star big man? Amazing.
Willis has not played one second in the post.
And others please stop with the we need a wing and a shooter instead crap, of course we do. We have plenty of schollies available, Swanigan has nothing to do with a wing player.
Height would be very low down my list for worries with Alex Poythress if I were a Kentucky fan. Sure, if it were the NBA, he'd be pretty undersized, but 6'7" or 6'8" with his strength at close to 240 pounds is perfectly fine for the college game at the power forward spot on most nights. 2014-2015 UK with a 6'10" Trey Lyles starting at "small forward" due to having WCS and KAT starting at the 4 and 5 and Alex's injury is very much an exception rather than the rule. Depth behind him and Marcus Lee as well as how he holds up from his ACL injury throughout next season would be more legit concerns for me. But if you guys can get Caleb Swanigan, obviously a lot of those problems would go away.
On another note, GL to Alex with his recovery from the ACL. I hope his recovery and rehab is going as well for him as can be expected.
Classy post from a Duke fan! Rare around here. I do expect us to compete next year regardless of if we get Swanigan.
Once again, take it for what it's worth but this time I am hearing good things from my guy (the AAU connection) that Swanigan is coming to UK. I hope he is right again!
California is working hard to get a spot open for him to join Rabb and Brown (that was the plan all along), but it looks to be too late. Go Cats!
I sure hope we land Calieb !!! Come tha UK play fer NCAA Championship. Like PU but not gonna go anywhere but battle fer BIG 10 !!!!Once again, take it for what it's worth but this time I am hearing good things from my guy (the AAU connection) that Swanigan is coming to UK. I hope he is right again!
