Stoops Signed New Contract - Bigger Buyout and Extension

Win 6 games, go to toilet bowl, fans are happy, and make over million dollars per win.
And Stoops has never done what you describe.

In the seven seasons since 2016, excluding the FU Covid year, he has won a minimum of 7, and twice 10 games.

I gotta believe there are going to be some Top 20 coaches getting contract renegotiation done in the off season after this. Either that or Sexton is gonna have a bunch of new clients.
This along with the Calipari lifetime contract officially ends the "Dumbest AD Of All Time" competition in my book.
I'm thinking Barnhart doesn't play a lot of poker.
Unbelievable.

Not trying to be a downer but we have 8 mil a year to throw at a coach and we went with Stoops!? WTMF ! Nobody has even legitimately came after Stoops to steal him away and we go and do this ? Id rather throw that loot at Fickle or Gus down at UCF. Barey confuses me a ton. These contracts hes writing are nuts!

Ya. I don’t hate it, but who were we bidding against? Did we need to go this high?

Well, we can count on several more years of opposing defenses knowing our plays better than our oline.
I'm too old to wait on Stoops' on the job training to reach completion.

I’d say most reasonable people would agree. The only person who thought Auburn wanted Stoops was the athletic director.
You are probably right about Auburn, but Nebraska is another story. I don't necessarily think Stoops was choice No. 1, but it was something to be concerned about.

Exactly...

Jimmy loves rollin' spineless ADs for Big $$$ ~ that gives Jimmy a bigger cut! Jimmy likes to buy things...
He’s asking a whole lot of those shirt buttons.

Ummm, what’s our record now? How many games do we have left?

We lose on Saturday and we’re winning 6 games and going to a horrible bowl game. But, seems like it’s worth a $2million raise to me!

but if some of you miss the Joker Phillips days, well....
It isn’t Joker Phillips that taught me the lesson.

It was Brooks and Claiborne. Claiborne is in the HOF, and Brooks might get a sniff.

Neither of them had a winning season in the SEC. Neither had an overall winning record.

Mitch and his wonderful contracts! Can we just fire Mitch’s a$$!!
Please keep in mind the buyout is only 4.5 million. That is relatively cheap compared to Cal's. Even Jimbo Fisher has an 86 million buyout. So Mitch shows confidence in Stoops, but at the same time, he shows practical business skills.

Start over with the new coach with the recruiting rules now and the free agency and the transfer market you would be screwing yourself if you lost Mark Stoops right now. 100% fact.
Take all the emotion out of it and think about it. Our only chances to keep him and Hope they can land some good players in the free agency December 4th.

Vanderbilt and South Carolina have caught up with us this year. Both made us at home which is bad because next year we got to play them both on the road. If you got a new coach right now I guarantee you would go 3-8.

I'll trust Vince marrow and Mark stoops ability to recognize talent and Hope we make it through this. Cuz if there's one thing those two guys know is they know what a good football player looks like.

He raised it from 1.75 million. Should not have raised it at all.

Jimmy's laughing at your post 'cause the $4.5M is Coach Stoops's buyout not the school's buyout.

You’re giving Mitch way too much credit!

What is the school's buyout?
Well, I don't believe the school has "officially" released the entire contract yet, but they will.

If we base Coach Stoop's contract on a "typical" Jimmy Sexton contract...say, Mel Tucker's at Michigan State, we can come up with a rough estimate:

"If the university chooses to fire Tucker for cause, it will owe him his entire non-performance-related salary. That means $9.5 million per year, through the term of the contract (2032). Tucker, however, must make a reasonable effort to seek other employment. The salary from his new job, if he finds one, would be deducted from the amount that Michigan State owes him. Tucker currently has nine years left on his deal after this one, so if he is fired at the end of the season (extremely unlikely considering the year the Spartans just had), he would be set to make up to $85.5 million over the next decade."

Therefore, I would estimate Kentucky's buyout at about $75 million, more or less.

If there is one thing Mitch B knows how to do it’s overpay coaches and lock UK into unreasonable buyouts.

Regardless of your feelings on Stoops, it’s just bad business. If things go downhill things will get bad fast, just look at A&M with Fisher.

Or, Mel Tucker @ Michigan State (5-6 Overall; 3-5 Conference). He has to beat Penn State this week to be bowl eligible...ugh.
