State of 2022 Recruiting

Love watching his film. He just out leverages people the whole time. And he's got that little nasty finish, I like it. And I agree, he'll just need a year or two in the S&C program. I gained a crap ton of weight just working out from spring to the fall and eating like a pig with the calorie counting scheme they had me on.
Geeze you should see the crap ton of weight I put on during this covid shut in :)

Thanks for the info. Where do you garner info this soon?
I am sure Rembrandt gets some inside into. UK's 247 page has a good list of UK offers. They also have a list of prospects UK is recruiting. On the prospects it shows the top targets etc. It also shows if team ate cool or warm. Not always 100% accurate but still some good info

Looking through some of that, the theme of expanding their recruiting to other areas sticks out to me.

Just seen a MSU inside flipped his CB for Ka'Maril Landers to UK. All other picks on both sides are for MSU. He is committing May the 9th. What are our chances there? Is he the guy they were pitching DT like McCall?

He is an interior OL. And that pick is at a confidence level of 2. Not sure why you even make a pick if that is your level of confidence. Personally, while the kid has a nice offer sheet, I think they are in on some better guys.

Kentucky is a FINALIST for 5 star DE Mykel Williams. If you would've told me this 10 years ago, I would've laughed in your face. He'll likely end up going to Georgia BUT to be in the conversation is what I wanted in the first place and Stoops has lived up to his promise in his introduction press conference, where he said, we'll back down to nobody in recruiting.

Apparently, there's good news on the horizon for UK according to JRow and TGraf

I would assume its Treyveon Longmire committing.

It would be a helluva start to add Longmire alongside Caldwell and Stewart.

A DB heavy start.
DB recruiting for this class is off to an excellent start, but they are going to have to fight very hard till the end to keep Stewart.

That's what I figured. Ole Miss offered him a couple of days after he committed.

Moreso Auburn is the one to really watch right now and he told JR that he plans to take all of his visits. I'd consider him a very soft commit. With that said, I think Kentucky will ultimately keep him as Stoops has done well keeping commitments the past few classes. Just hold your breath on him though.

It has been reported elsewhere today that Treyveon Longmire may have verbally committed to UK. Longmire was mentioned in the OP on this thread many months ago, and it has been known that he likes UK, so it will come as no surprise if he commits to Coach Stoops now.

Longmire has been considered an "athlete", but it is rumored that he would play DB at UK. At 6'2", he has great length for Coach Stoops' secondary.

Longmire could join Jeremiah Caldwell as the first two commitments to UK's 2022 class. Longmire is from Corbin, KY, and he holds at least five SEC offers.
As contemplated earlier in my 2/19 post on this thread, Treyveon Longmire has now publicly committed to UK’s 2022 class. Longmire is being recruited by Coach Marrow. He currently holds at least five SEC offers.

Coach Stoops appears to be focusing on restocking his secondary early in this class.

UK’s current 2022 class-

Jeremiah Caldwell, ATH, Bellevue, MI
Treyveon Longmire, DB, Corbin, KY
Andre Stewart, DB, Snellville, GA

Thanks Rembrandt. BTW, what is your take on the Wimsatt situation?
Wimsatt is said to like Liam Coen. Wimsatt’s mother is said to like Rutgers’ coaching staff as well as Rutgers’ emphasis on academics. It is believed that the Rutgers’ staff’s recent zoom meeting with the Wimsatts went well and resulted in crystal ball picks favoring Rutgers.

So it looks like a UK vs. Rutgers battle. It is also possible that ND could push harder for Wimsatt and work their way into the picture.

I have a hard time believing Wimsatt will end up at Rutgers. I don’t know if you have ever been to NJ, but it is one of the last places in the country most people would want to live. Rutgers is more or less to the B10 what Vandy is to the SEC. Only Rutgers is in a much worse location.

Vince Marrow is recruiting Wimsatt, although Liam Coen is also directly involved. Aside from being our state school, UK is appealing because of the recent Coen and Wolford hirings, Stoops’ goal of a balanced offense, and the growing reputations of UK’s OL and RBs. It would be even better if UKs receivers had that kind of a reputation, but Rutgers isn’t as strong as UK in any of those areas. I still believe Wimsatt probably ends up at UK unless his Mom puts her foot down and forces the issue, which would be unusual. Generally, the player’s preference prevails in most families. But his recruitment is probably going to take longer than I thought a few weeks ago.

Let's be clear, this is a part of Jersey that is crap. They have as much wasteland, as KY does, but they have some great beaches and backcountry. But, Rutgers is a terrible campus/location.

NJ has twice as many people as KY, along with higher quality of life ranking, higher healthcare ranking, higher education ranking, stronger economic output, greater geographic diversity, greater access to major cities, and lower crime rates. More aggressive drivers and much higher taxes but we can’t afford to give our players cars or cash bags so those things probably won’t impact him too much.

I get that NJ is commonly a punchline but just wanted to correct your post because it’s pretty ignorant of reality and has me questioning if you’ve ever been to NJ outside of passing through on the Turnpike.

As for the Vandy comparison, that would’ve been pretty accurate pre-Schiano and Pikiell but the school’s been investing pretty heavily in staffs and facilities. Football recruiting was ranked similarly to UK this past class even with a relatively poor record (and has a shot to be top 30-35 this year), and basketball came within a minute or so of a Sweet 16 matchup they probably would’ve been favored in.

Again, not trying to start an argument and not sure what Wimsatt will do but just wanted to offer thoughts on some misconceptions.

Lackford put two Futurecasts in for Bingham and Wimsatt to UK

I guess the Wimsatt hype to Rutgers was just that, hype.
It wasn’t hype. The Wimsatts had a productive zoom meeting with Rutgers’ coaches recently and his mother likes Rutgers. We have to remember there has been tremendous turnover on UK’s offensive coaching staff this offseason. That’s a good thing for sure, but there are still a lot of unknowns on the offensive unit. But at the end of the day, I still believe Wimsatt will wind up picking UK. Vince Marrow is a powerful recruiter, and it has been reported that Gavin likes Liam Coen.

I have spent a lot of time in NJ. I have a number of friends who live there. Be careful about prejudging other people’s ignorance when you don’t know them. It’s disappointing that you called my earlier post “ignorant of reality” without knowing, when the opposite is actually the case.

My roommate at UK, a great guy and an honor student, moved to NJ (near Rutgers) and couldn’t stand it. He moved back to KY after 6 months.

I still believe Wimsatt will end up choosing UK. But if he picks Rutgers, I predict he will transfer out of there within two years, tops.

And if you are implying we pay players, then take your ass right on out of here.
I didn’t imply anything. I commented on the two main drawbacks of NJ and why they would typically be irrelevant to a Rutgers athlete. Appreciate the hospitality though.
