State of 2022 Recruiting

Rowser is Arkansas leading slightly over UK it appears.
Really hoping Clink can pull this one out. With D-Rob, Ajian, & Corker all seniors he could have an opportunity to come in and play early. Factor that with Caldwell and some of his other teammates could be targets for the staff and Clinks recruiting success in Michigan, hoping all these connections win out in the end. Especially if Bama isn't neccesarily recruiting him as hard..

Kentucky is definitely using Mike Edwards and Kelvin Joseph right now as a recruiting pitch, speaking of Joseph, there's another mock draft with him going in the 1st round.
Lonnie Johnson.... He was considered somewhat of a project. Highly regarded athlete but hadn't been refined yet.

Explains how there's nothing but Arkansas fans under his post. Folks, don't tweet kids. I find it so weird but I rather live anyway other than Arkansas.
Sam Pittman is a stud recruiter, UGA didn't like loosing him. I would think he constructed his staff that way as well.

He hasn't produced a lot because Houston is using him wrong. They have him at safety right now when hes a corner and I've seen posts of him disgruntled about the situation before.

In my opinion they are using him correctly he is definitely a safety , as he is a little tight in the hips. He had a decent year for the Texans, but their organization is a dumpster fire.

Two big pieces of news tonight:

1) Kentucky gets a big commitment from Atlanta area CB and former Auburn commit Andre Stewart.

2) Steve Wiltfong put in a crystal ball pick for Gavin Wimsatt to Rutgers this evening.

Rutgers? Wut... that's not good.

Lackford on rivals put in a future cast for Rutgers just b4 Wiltfong. He also put one in for Goodwin to Bama

Schiano is a good recruiter, we have a relatively young quarterback room, I probably won't be all that surprised if Wimsatt goes elsewhere. All that said, Big Dog has been working on this one for a while now, he will end up picking UK IMO.

He might commit to Rutgers, but I bet he ultimately ends up here.

Caldwell could be a safety, when all said and done. Longmire (wish list), Tisdale, Dodson, Douglass, Hyatt, Lovett, etc. UK seems solid at safety.

I still don't understand the hype around Wimsatt to Rutgers and hope its just hype and hes still UK bound.

There has been a lot of crystal balls on the other site for Langston Patterson to Vandy. I know at one time, the staff was targeting him.

It’s not really that important. He’s a quarterback, they are made to transfer . Maybe he can go to Rutgers, improve his accuracy issues, and transfer back here . Who knows, but there will always be talented quarterbacks in the transfer portal.

We may have got someone in Levis out of the transfer portal but becoming 100% reliant on the portal will not work. You have to recruit and develop QB's still.

I disagree . There will always be quarterbacks in the transfer portal. Many of them will be highly ranked. Very few highly ranked quarterbacks are willing to sit and be “groomed “ these days . If Wimsatt comes to UK there is a high probability he would transfer anyway considering how young our current quarterbacks are . Like I said , he could possibly transfer here eventually . But it’s not like he’s Tim Couch , there are people that think Coen isn’t that enamored with him because of his accuracy issues.

You have Levi’s transferring in from Penn State 3 years eligibility, last year starter with 2 years eligibility and another 4 star QB sophomore on the bench. I think Wamsatt wants to play early first or second year.

I believe you hired a new OC expecting pro set offense and we hired the Oklahoma State OC and expect spread offense.

If he does decide on Rutgers, I hope he does great there .

Never have truer words been spoken.!

The greatest and most persistent myth about U.K. recruiting: “UK must lock down the state.”

Unfortunately, outside of 5-8 players per year, the state is irrelevant to SEC recruiting.

Then add in that some of these kids are in Jefferson County, that some are Catholic or maybe even Mormon (and have been headed to ND or BYU/Utah since birth), and placing a false requirement of getting 100 percent is damn stupid: it will never happen.

I have always thought the 65 UK team had the most superstars from Kentucky, Rodger Bird, Rick Norton, Sam Ball, Rick Kestner, all in the same class from Kentucky. Rick Norton getting injured along with the lack of depth (Thin Thirty) killed that team

He definitely needs to add a little weight but he's perfect for Coen's scheme. It says he's 255 on his profile.
Love watching his film. He just out leverages people the whole time. And he's got that little nasty finish, I like it. And I agree, he'll just need a year or two in the S&C program. I gained a crap ton of weight just working out from spring to the fall and eating like a pig with the calorie counting scheme they had me on.

Wagner is the perfect type of O lineman to redshirt. He's obviously very skilled but would get the first year to acclimate to college, live in the weight room, and soak in the knowledge of the position. By the time he is a 300 lb Redshirt Sophomore, he could a force to be reckoned with (assuming he gets a chance to dip his toes in the SEC water as a R-Fr.

It may seem a little early to start this thread, but I am not convinced that is the case. Sometime between this summer and next March, UK's coaches will receive their first 2022 verbal commitment.
