State of 2022 Recruiting

Getting Goodwin/Wagner for the OL is extremely important for the Big Blue Walls future. We need to get those guys but we'll probably end up with Wagner/Bingham, which I would absolutely be fine with.

Goodwin said at the beat of the midwest that his top 3 of were Bama, Clemson, and OSU. He is a long shot to come to UK

That is what Steve Wiltfong is saying. Goodwin has never named a top three. Kentucky may not ultimately get him, but they are definitely in the the thick of this recruitment.
The thing that helps us, is Clemson has two commits at OT and are recruiting the #1 OT. They haven't offered Goodwin and prob won't have room for him. OSU has 1 commit and are recruit 3-4 OT ranked ahead of him, so if they get another commit they may back off him. Bama had the monster class last year and recruiting the #1,2, and 5 OTs in the class. Don't see them taking more than 1 OT in this class. We have a chance. He is friends and works out with Juan Dale so hopefully it happens

Yes, his relationships at Aspirations Gym, Wan'Dale, Jager Burton, Marrow, etc is going to keep Kentucky right in the middle of this. Wiltfong is really really good, but I don't think he is giving Kentucky enough credit here.

Who are you referencing as #1 OT? Rivals or TOS? I doubt Rice goes to Clemson. He might, but as of right now, I kinda doubt it. They're also recruiting Givens, but I've heard they view him as more of a DL.

I was put #1 but it is the #2 Givens. Bama and OSU are recruiting rice

I normally use 247 as it easier to use. It is much easier to navigate and get info than this site.

Gotcha. Yeah, I think there's a better chance of Rice or Givens ending up at Clemson than Goodwin. But, ultimately, I don't think they get either one, maybe Givens. Honestly, haven't heard as much Goodwin/Clemson chatter. Think tOSU is your main competition there.

ETA: Nevermind. I see where that's coming from...TOS. Clemson prob a factor as well.

It has been reported elsewhere today that Treyveon Longmire may have verbally committed to UK. Longmire was mentioned in the OP on this thread many months ago, and it has been known that he likes UK, so it will come as no surprise if he commits to Coach Stoops now.

Longmire has been considered an "athlete", but it is rumored that he would play DB at UK. At 6'2", he has great length for Coach Stoops' secondary.

Longmire could join Jeremiah Caldwell as the first two commitments to UK's 2022 class. Longmire is from Corbin, KY, and he holds at least five SEC offers.

I hope you're right. Treyveon is one of the best athletes I've seen in all the games I've attended in southeastern Kentucky.

Tennessee has made it where he can't sign with another SEC team.

Tennessee has backed off that after they got heat on them. Don't know why schools continue to do this as they always release the player and end up with a huge black eye. With all of that said, looks like both UT kids are headed to Auburn.

Schools shouldn't do that. I wouldn't want UK to do it even if a kid does go to another SEC school from here. I'm glad they backed off after some heat.

Don't know if we get involved but I would say the kid will file an appeal with the SEC and he should win it

Tennessee did indeed back off the restrictions on Brooks. I believe Auburn will be his new school soon.

Kentucky is going after a lot of kids from Texas this recruiting cycle. They just offered Joshua Wiggins out of Texas

Momentum seems to be building for Owensboro QB Gavin Wimsatt to commit to UK this spring. Seems Wimsatt and Liam Coen have hit it off. Independent reports elsewhere are saying Wimsatt is getting closer to making an early announcement of some kind.

If these reports are true, such a development would give a lot of momentum to UK's 2022 class. Getting a top QB in place invariably does good things for the class.

It is looking like the RB Brown is looking very hard st Missouri. Sam Horn a 22 QB from a town just outside of Athen committed to Missouri Brown's interest in Missouri seem to explode. Brown is a hard working back, but is slow and not much wiggle, never been asked to bbn locked and no idea about his hands. But he was the offensive star of a team that had a good run in the 7A playoffs in Ga.

I'm sure its already been talked about on another thread but Drew Allar, QB, committed to Penn St.

That means this staff is going all out for Wimsatt and I hope we can land him soon.

This kid is a must get for UK.

He is one physical football player, with strong instincts stopping the run.

I wish we were the only SEC team he listed. But, we are the only SEC team an easy drive from home, for family and friends to watch.

He is a three year player, IMHO.

And we currently have his teammate as our first 2022 commit, Jeremiah Caldwell.

I thought Belleview Michigan sounded familiar!

Check out these drive times:

Belleview, Michigan to Lexington, Kentucky: 5 hours, 33 minutes;
Belleview, Michigan to Fayetteville Arkansas, 13 hours, 2 minutes;
Belleview, Michigan to Tuscaloosa, AL, 11 hours, 15 minutes.

I'm not saying it is everything, but relative proximity has to play a role. If I was 18, and grandmaw and grandpaw wanted to see me play, I would consider having them within a days' drive.

I agree but I think Mich St is close to Detroit, where hes from. I think Mich St is our competition for him and obviously Bama could get him but I think they're aiming higher.
