So, the threats to Higgins were released. ONE was a direct threat and it was for a slap

Other point: the screaming indignation about this, the multiple condemning columns and screeching radio talk hosts, the large font front page treatment of the story when it broke.....well, now that we know the rest of the story, you can rest assured it won't get the same treatment. Buried in the back of the sports section, no columns by national writers, and the radio guys won't talk about it. That's not anti-UK stuff, it's just the way this works.....

What, you disappointed the death threats weren't more explicit? That we have filth in our fan base that would do this is embarrassing. You seem to rejoice over it.
Since you're clearly not good at reading, let me recap for you. There were no death threats, none, notta, zip, zero. The only threat was that someone would slap him. Would that make you and your family fear for your life... Well probably, yeah, you seem like a whiny dimwit. But it wouldn't make a reasonable person fear their lives.

"The only threat was the weak one where a guy said if he ever saw him in public he would slap him"

He should avoid certain areas of Louisville which are
notorious for drive-by slappings...

You don't have to stick a gun up someone's nose to threaten them. The court, if it comes to that, won't ask you what you thought. It will determine if, under the conditions the statement was made, might it have been threatening.

Lol you're a joke. There were no threats. That's why we told you to chill out on labeling our fans but shocker you couldn't have that.

My last paragraph in the other post was deticated to you.

See, that's how you are. I've never characterized the whole fan base when I've commented on the filth that called this guy. We clearly have some fans desperate to sweep this under the carpet, like you. This isn't a question of how you felt about the comments. It's a question of how the victim felt. Given your acumen, I don't expect you to understand that.

This is Higgins second pass at being the victim. He reported threats after I believe the Kansas/Oklahoma game. Read that in the Sports Illustrated article. Waste of time to go back and get specifics. He is a guy who takes advantage of his position by bullying coaches who question his calls during a game while letting his agenda against certain programs control his ability to be above board.

Just shows how shallow Higgins is imo. Those were nothing but he used it to deflect away from how bad a ref he is and how he slanted his calls against UK.
Guy is pathetic.
Bilas jumped all over this but where is he now. He has become a bigger joke than Vitale.

But when you have a few idiots that do something like this, it plays into the narrative that uk fans are crazy. Stop for a second and think about the fact that this man has a family and kids, would you want someone doing this to one of your kids? Over a ball game? Totally out of control and stupid. Get a freaking life.

A lot of families in Kentucky that deserve better officials.
Higgins actually said he thought he called a good game against UNC.

Kinda proves the "guilty in the public eye" before any evidence is presented. That's one of the biggest issues today with social media and instant "news" reporting online - readers immediately jump to conclusions and peoples' lives are ruined (not Higgins, just talking about in general) because the online news media needs so badly to be the first to report a story, even though the person / people being shown as these awful souls have yet to go through due process. I've seen it so many times - guy gets accused, his photo splashed all over news outlets, is eventually acquitted, but is forever guilty in the eyes of public opinion - all because the media had to spew his personal photo and info all over the web.

The way the media jumps on things and portrays people (in this case, UK fans) as horrible and guilty without having all of the information to draw such a conclusion drives me damned crazy.

I have said, in public, that I hope he never officiates another Kentucky game because he's terrible.

My lawyer said to expect an indictment against me any day now.

Never said he was a good official. He is biased and shows it. That is not an excuse to try and terrorize or destroy someone's livelihood over a basketball game.

Facts are optional for them as long they get to be first and face no repercussions. They issue a half hearted apology and onto the next victim.

Good grief! One guy threatened to slap Higgins. No death threats, no mention of firearms or even weapons of mass destruction. Change out of that skirt and try a pair of pants sometime.

You, the king of dense, criticizes the acumen of another. You can only limp along on the internet, without much noticeable substance, and here you are questioning someone else's acumen. Only on the internet. Priceless

Wow. You have been presented the facts from investigators; but you still try to twist it to fit your agenda.
Now you passively aggressive compare a phone call about slapping someone to putting a pistol up someone's nose.
Give up. YOU are now the embarrassment to the rest of the fans.

Edit: oh crap, was that physical harm threat?

Terrorize? Really?
You may want to look up the definition of that word.

I think you'll find there is a difference between facts and a biased rationalization of facts. Regardless anyone that would make such a phone call over a game is filth. We don't need such in our fan base. Anyone that would condone or defend such action isn't much better.

I realize that these people are boneheaded idiots for calling him personally, but when did "I Hope" become "I Will"?

From the way the National Media portrayed this thing, I would have thought that list would have been MUCH MORE threatening. Still no excuse for ANY threat.

Just goes to show you that anytime UK fans are involved, the story gets blown up.

I still would like to know who the 2 media outlets are that the prosecutor turned into the FCC?

But the media outlets were proactive. Totally not the FCC.

Show me one post from anyone that has condoned the calls.
Saying the investigation was lame. Or that Higgins is a puss...is not condoning. But, keep trying find something to make your agenda sound reasonable.

Oh, my comments are reasonable. Yours on the other hand sound like a mother trying to defend a kid that just knocked over a liquor store. It wasn't that bad. Nobody was hurt. He didn't know what he was doing. Excuse excuse excuse.

Calls were made. Questionable statements were made. Intellectual property was defaced. All over a game. Those are facts.

What a maroon. The conditions? That's stupid, even for stupid people. Direct threats are required to prosecute. There were none, which is why Nebraska, a state with laws to address interstate death threats, didn't prosecute. The most embarassing fans we have are ones like you who TRY to shame everyone else. Go away.

That's true, but it does require an actual threat from the "speaker" to the "spoken to". There were no threats and you'll just have to accept that as no successful prosecution on this will EVER happen.

Nope, we clearly have some fans, you, who want to make this into something it isn't, death threats. It really doesn't matter how much you bitch and whine, there were no death threats. Worse is said at every game he ever refs. Somehow, calling him and letting him know you hope karma drives a stake through his heart is worse to you. What a snowflake.

When he overtly cheats UK and gets a promotion to higher level games from the NCAA because of it, someone has to do something. That or you can walk around with a jar of vaseline in your pocket, you know, just for emergencies.

Isn't the same done and thought during every game he calls?

Terrorize? Really?
You may want to look up the definition of that word.

Or look up the term:

A terroristic threat is a crime generally involving a threat to commit violence communicated with the intent to terrorize another, to cause evacuation of a building, or to cause serious public inconvenience, in reckless disregard of the risk of causing such terror or inconvenience.

It's wasn't just a game. It was a NCAA tourney game that very likely cost UK a national title. Millions of dollars were lost by the university thanks in part to Higgins. Not to mention all the time and effort put into a season by the players, coaches and staff. This wasn't just incompetence by Higgins, I think even you would agree with that. He has a bias against either Cal or UK or both and once again it was on full display in that game.

No one on here was condoning death threats against him or especially his family. But now we have proof that obviously isn't what happened. Poor Mr Higgins got his feelings hurt and ran to the media to play the victim. If he would've kept his mouth shut this whole situation would've been done and forgotten by now. Instead now he looks even more like a scumbag. And the best part about it all is I highly doubt he refs another UK game.

time for thief higgins to RETIRE--call it a career and live off his earnings from thievery on the floor.

then--no more worry about some little old lady wanting to slap his cheating lowlife thieving face.

bye bye higgins---so good to see you go!!

Such a wonderful thought!!

maybe his apologists can go massage his ego and befriend the lowllfe---they appear to be a mutual combination.

I would bet this emboldens this guy to want to call our games more. I hope the higher ups disagree and he never does another game. Because if he does, I guarantee you we will get more of the same.

In all reality, Higgins should be prosecuted for making a false report; and potentially sued for defamation by those named (except the slap guy).

The slap was the only one that even loosely qualifies as a slap. And that was far from a death threat.

That brings up an interesting thought. What should Cal and the BBN's reaction be if he is assigned another UK game?

If this was any other team, this board would be crushing them for being horrible humans. Because it's UK fans, it's tame and no big deal. Bottom line, a few UK fans embarrassed themselves and the rest of us. I don't care what happens, if you call a ref or his business, you're in the wrong.
Of course they're wrong. Of course it's pathetic. But that's not mutually exclusive with the fact that this was reported vastly out of proportion to what was actually said.
