No, it's called the truth and if you were an actual fan, you would know that thousands of UK fans will spend their last dollar just to watch UK play.

The fanbase is what makes UK the program it has always been. The sooner you understand that, the sooner you will understand what's actually happening here.
Jeff we have no idea what is happening here. At least that’s my point. Now if he leaves at the end of year, I will be the first to say what a total abortion him coming here was. Right before I delete my account if dude accepts my bet. Hahaha

Look if the Canada and Payne kid are getting clock while Sharpe sat, they’re not playing him. Not sure why people can’t see that. Don’t give me the but he didn’t know the offense or wasn’t in game shape yet bs.

Nothings happening here except us winning. The rest is a bunch of drama once again started with some pea brain haters of the program flapping their gums. Nothing is set in stone on any of it, it’s just a chance for those to sink their teeth in like the snakes they are

Calipari lied. It’s that simple. He’s known the entire time Sharpe wasn’t going to be at UK next season. I fully believe Cal just wants his name attached to another top pick that he’s not getting anymore and he couldn’t care less that he’s not stepping on the court. He will apply pressure to get him playing this season because the pressure will mount and with a mediocre team next year, he probably realizes right now he at least needs him to play.

It’s not hard to understand it, but some only care about making Calipari look good. They don’t care what happens to UK, even though I think they’re misguided and it’s not intentional.
No way in hell Sharpe plays this year. He won't risk injury.

This ENTIRE saga has been a big FRAUD.

One of you guys who keeps acting like this situation is so clear cut and there’s just absolutely no imaginable way that Cal might not have been 100% certain that Sharpe was always going to be eligible and was never going to play might want to ya know, explain that argument at some point instead of just repeating it as fact. There are people *still today* arguing that it’s not a lock.

I’ll be honest here
I really don’t give a shit about a player who has not played for us. This doesn’t affect my life in any way, except maybe enjoyment of watching him play (assuming his game translates to the college level) UK can afford to let this kid ride the bench and do whatever…doesn’t hurt any of us financially and at this point I think it would be a detriment to to team If he came in and started taking minutes from someone who earned them
If Cal knew he knew. I’m not naive enough to think he is totally innocent. My thought is Cal got him here more to keep him from going elsewhere, where he might be convinced to stay
next year
Basketball is an entertainment business. Nothing more or less
It is what it is
How come Cal couldn't convince him to play or stay? Lots of other coaches are successful in that area. Cal doesn't seem to be able to land the big fish anymore.

But he is good at lying to and talking down to the fans.

You're calling others 'pea brain', but you're the one that isn't seeing what's right in front of your face.

No question he lied & it was premeditated. Do some ppl seriously believe that Cal doesn’t know whether or not a recruit is draft eligible? 😂 Every coach in the country knows EVERYTHING about every kid they recruit. And, at this level draft eligibility is kind of important. And, it’s just as bad of a look if he really didn’t know. But, he did.

It’s easy to connect the dots unless you just don’t want to. If he knew Sharpe was eligible, which he did, then he also knew that Sharpe wasn’t coming back next season. He wouldn’t let him even if Sharpe wanted to. And, they all said the plan was to practice only this season. So, how is it even a question? He obviously agreed to allow Sharpe to use UK as an NBA training camp & devote time to coaching him that should be spent on our actual players. Again, if nothing shady was happening then Sharpe’s eligibility would’ve been public knowledge & not kept a secret, instead.

He's a total jackass moron. He doesn't see that we're being fed incrementally. Every step of the way there's just enough carrot to carry us to the next step. And so on and so forth.

1. Sharpe hits campus
2. He gets a uniform
3. Leaked practice videos
4. Big announcement (probably not what they wanted) BUT DON'T WORRY HE'LL PLAY NEXT YEAR!
5. YOU ARE HERE
6. Sharpe won't play this year. It'll be some fake injury or just "not ready" from Cal or TEAM CHEMISTRY! or a 'no' vote from the team or some other bullsht
7. Next year Sharpe 'tests the waters' and after much prayer and deliberation decides he owes it to his family to take China's the NBA's money and tearfully tells BBN good bye and thanks for all TEH SUPPORT
8. Cal celebrates with big hugs on draft night and says "THIS IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT LOL"

It's so EASY to see this stuff. It's shocking that so many fans in this thread are so dense.

I agree. But why would Cal agree to this? What purpose does it serve?

All of this is assuming Sharpe doesnt come back like he is currently saying he will.
If he doesnt come back and reneges on his word later, how exactly is that on Cal?
When has Cal ever LET a lottery pick come back—without the threat of a lockout? Cal has said that he doesn’t think high picks should come back and risk injury.

Evidently Cal knew Sharpe was 2022 draft eligible.

Oh brother 😔😔😔😔😔
Has any sportswriter given any indication of who was Givony’s original source?

Really curious to know what they’re basing this on. In the past, the NBA has refused to issue a official determination on eligibility until after someone has officially declared as an early entry player (see Thon Maker as an example). So is the draft eligibility truly a done deal, or is Givony’s source simply very confident of getting an exception based on Sharpe’s transcript?

Would really love to know what they’re basing this on, and also what was their motivation for mentioning it to Givony in the first place.

Lol. I will make the same bet with you. If he leaves after this year, I delete my account on here. If he comes back next, you delete your account. You game?

These guys work so damn hard to make excuses for the shit Cal keeps botching. At some point, they have to stop acting like Louisville fans. We all laughed at those guys for the excuses they used to put a dress on those Pitino and Jurich turds, but these idiots are just as bad.

lol. Touched a nerve?
See posts above. You guys could when any name calling, red herringand straw man competition. Oh up to 28 pages. Good work.

oh I’ve probably read more of the thread than you:

Literally no one is arguing that this topic was never discussed during the recruitment. That’s just a really boring straw man for the people rage-crying about how Cal hurt their precious feelings keep stupidly trotting out.

People are just saying that it’s not some given that Calipari knew with 100 percent certainty that he wasn’t going to play and still took him. That doesn’t mean they didn’t discuss it in his recruitment.
Golly, Beav, I didn't realize Sharpe ran UK basketball. Does Cal get to make ANY decisions without his permission?

Exactly, why isn't he? If Cal agreed to this whole thing, then he deserves every bit of the heat and scorn he gets over it. This is the epitome of not caring about the school that pays you.
Cal isn't helping Sharpe at all. Sharpe could get all the practice he wants by signing with an agent and paying somebody.

Cal is about CAL first. He uses the players to make himself look good. Didn't work too well last year so he took a flyer on Sharpe but he had a plan. Midseason hopefully we're 15-3 and he can weather the storm when the truth comes out. Exactly as he planned it. As long as we finish Sweet Sixteen Cal can claim he's BACK, BABY. Worry about next year later!

If you pay attention, and I have, you’ll notice most who don’t seem to comprehend this spend well more than half of their time in threads simply defending every single thing the guy does. It’s a psychological effect brought about by Calipari’s salesman ability. It’s not really questionable either, as some who are long, long time UK fans have said they don’t even care is he LOSES. They will support him even still. If this was a court of law there’s zero chance they would be allowed as jurors. So I fully question their ability to critically think. If you spend half of your time defending him, even when it’s not necessary, you have no credibility. Situations such as this will be impossible for you to understand.

I’ve said from day one, If someone believes Calipari is the best guy for the job given everything on the table I have zero problem with that. There are plenty of days I believe it too, and maybe he is. But that doesn’t mean he should be allowed free reign to use the UK brand any way he sees fit even when it’s totally unpopular with people that support UK. He’s the COACH of UK, he doesn’t need to be given the keys to Gods staff. This is the states team it’s not an AAU / minor league organization for Calipari to use in order to promote himself, his NBA gatekeeper vision, and 10 month players who are here to leave. That’s my real issue - what has gotten into some of the UK fan base? If Calipari was doing this anywhere else we’d by throwing the book at him and their NBA training team. And every single person here knows it regardless of what they say. Imagine Indiana doing what we’ve done with Calipari while we remained traditional? Please.

We are allowing ourselves to be too invested in a man instead of all eyes on deck of the USS Kentucky. If he’s going to be Gene Hackman, we at least need a Denzel Washington. To me, that’s going to come from fans and social media.

Hopefully that’s what happens and it balances itself out. What I want and what I think 94% of this board (fans too) want, is for UK to maintain our position. I’m just afraid we’re losing it because we’re too invested in an individual instead of the program.

If Sharpe doesn't play this season, I'd say there's 100% chance 'he gone'; if he does play, I think there's actually a slightly higher than a 'Dumb & Dumber' chance he plays for UK in 2022-2023. I say that b/c if Sharpe does play this season, it could be an indicator that he's not overly concerned about failure now (ie: draft stock falling), which likewise means staying @ UK and developing is an option. If things don't go well and his draft stock takes a slight hit, he can use the 'data' from this season to prep for next season and become a sure-fire #1 pick with megahype rolling into 2022-2023. If he plays this season and proves he's legit, then nothing changes and he probably bolts for the draft and UK would at least benefit, even if only briefly, from his commitment.

With all that said, I'm pretty jaded these days and I don't think Sharpe ever plays a game at UK.... sure hope I'm proven wrong.
Not bad points, finally a decent rebuttal

Totally different. Johnson actually played basketball games at duke. This is unprecedented and has never happened before I don’t believe. It wouldn’t happen to them because they wouldn’t have allowed a kid to make a mockery of their program, like Cal will here.
Pitino and Sebastian Telfair.

This ENTIRE saga has been a big FRAUD.

Of he doesn’t play and leaves for the draft, Calipari needs to be told that if it happens again we’re firing him for cause.
