A mural of him running toward a giant NBA logoWhat I want to know is if Sharpe’s picture will be added to the mural of UK basketball players in the NBA at the Craft Center?

If Cal knew he was never going to play or if he even had strong indications he was never going to play, it was beyond stupid to bring him onboard. It will end up making him look like a stooge if it plays out that way. It will have also have cost us a recruit or two. We could’ve signed a highly rated player or two that would actually contribute by, you know, playing. LOL. Now this is all speculation based on the information that just came out, but where there’s smoke there’s generally fire. If the kid ends up playing then it’s not a problem, but how positive are you about that now?Sharpe was going to enroll somewhere for spring semester if Cal didn't take him. He did the right thing by bringing him in even if Sharpe ends up leaving this year. He would have been an idiot to not to the chance.
You’re right he should’ve done that with Allen. Missed opportunityThe problem I have with that is Its NOT up to him .. Cal puts on his big girl panties , walks down to this guy and says " Go in for Brooks" ... if said guy says " No thanks ' you escort him to the locker room and tell him to check rates on both Lyft and Uber for a ride home
I think the main kid we lost was Nick Smith. A very good college prospect but someone that can be replaced with a ‘23 reclass or transfer however. You’re not thinking about all the potential NBA earnings Shaedon can add to Cal’s bragging sales pitch…I’m kidding of course. Frustrating no doubtSo all saying it does not hurt UK if he doesn't play....answer this:
Once you focus efforts and take Sharpe at SF/SG....you sort of lose kids that were options A, B, C, etc...
So does it not hurt UK to never play Sharpe and lose out on Keyonte George, Darik Whithead, Brandon Miller, etc.. and any other wing player that we might have gotten if Sharpe commits elsewhwere?
He will not play a minute for UK. He was never going to.I just hope he plays this year for everyone’s sake.
THERE HE IS
Smith was damn good. Scored like 33 against the best EYBL team in the country in the title game. He was begging to come to UK.I think the main kid we lost was Nick Smith. Maybe Cal thought NBA draft picks would help recruiting idk? But it has blown up in his face either way. This shit does not happen at Duke, KU, or UNC.........I wonder if it has to do with a coach who puts draft picks in front of program success.
We’re also the only one that’s been in a situation like this I believe? We would be the only school burned in this way. That's a new one for Cal.
No, it’s NOT Cal’s program. It belongs to the University of Kentucky and the fanbase. It always has. That’s who built it, not Cal. Where do you guys come up with this shit? It’s Cals program and he can run it as he sees fit. I definitely don’t feel any sense of entitlement. On the flip side, Cal shouldn’t get upset as the size of home crowds keep dwindling.
Dukes best player quit the team last year to train for the NBAThis shit does not happen at Duke, KU, or UNC.........I wonder if it has to do with a coach who puts draft picks in front of program success.
I actually agree with this. I was just pointing out what I think to be the case. Just because I point out something that seems so obvious, doesn’t mean I’m happy with it. I fully believe that if Cal, the coach, tells him to check in, he should check in, regardless. I just happen to think Cal is leaving it up to him. Which yes, sucks ass.The problem I have with that is Its NOT up to him .. Cal puts on his big girl panties , walks down to this guy and says " Go in for Brooks" ... if said guy says " No thanks ' you escort him to the locker room and tell him to check rates on both Lyft and Uber for a ride home
How could you possibly think this. Lets say he would be picked 6th this year and he has a very good but not elite NBA career. That would cost him 5.3M to play next year up front but it would also cost him one year of a high level contract at the end of his career. It would cost him in total 30M+. Now, who in their right mind is walking away from that kind of money, especially for only play 1 year of college ball. It isn't happening. He'll be in the NBA next year.Sharpe was going to enroll somewhere for spring semester if Cal didn't take him. He did the right thing by bringing him in even if Sharpe ends up leaving this year. He would have been an idiot to not to the chance.
You don’t speak for me nor anyone else on here so quit saying UK fans are sick of it. You think you a spokesman, we’re in trouble nowGo be an NBA fan then if you’re fine with it. We don’t care. Enough of this nonsense.
Some of you want to know why people are sick and tired of Calipari? Quit asking, he invites this crap into this program for his own personal situation with NBA players and UK fans are sick of it.
True and I'm not surprised that Cal would be the coach to do it.We’re also the only one that’s been in a situation like this I believe?
I wonder how you survived a mule kicking your brains out?I find myself reading many of the negative comments about Cal and Sharpe in this thread and thinking about those posters "how were you the sperm that won the race to the egg".
No, Cal has always said his main goal is getting kids drafted. The kids benefit and so do the fans. We let the ''kids'' use the program to go to the NBA and in return they win the games for us. That was the promise when he was hired, now they come and dont even play. Where's the benefit?Maybe Cal thought NBA draft picks would help recruiting idk? But it has blown up in his face either way.
That would be true if the coach cared more about the team and program than he did the player. Thankfully for us, Cal cares more for the player. That's really all that matters. The problem I have with that is Its NOT up to him .. Cal puts on his big girl panties , walks down to this guy and says " Go in for Brooks" ... if said guy says " No thanks ' you escort him to the locker room and tell him to check rates on both Lyft and Uber for a ride home
I know this is a crazy idea that has no place on a message board, but how bout we let things play out and see what actually happens before we grab our pitchforks and torches and head to Cal's house?
IF that’s the case, he and his handlers are a bunch of liars and I wouldn’t trust another word out of their mouths.Unbelievable
Ben Roberts reporting not only will Sharpe not likely play this year - Travis Branham says he’d be “shocked” if Sharpe is here next year.
Ridiculous.
And we stupid fans have a goal of winning titles. We must have been raised wrong. No, Cal has always said his main goal is getting kids drafted. The kids benefit and so do the fans. We let the ''kids'' use the program to go to the NBA and in return they win the games for us. That was the promise when he was hired, now they come and dont even play. Where's the benefit?
De'Aaron Fox says John Calipari "couldn't give a damn about winning college basketball games"
Former Kentucky star De’Aaron Fox will be the first to tell you he loved his time in Lexington and playing for John Calipari. Averaging 16.7 points, 4.6 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest, the 6-foot-3 guard quickly established himself as one of the best players in college...www.on3.com
its right in front of your face guys....
So we were supposed to say no to the kid that wanted to come here and is the number #1 pick in his class? How is that Cal’s fault?True and I'm not surprised that Cal would be the coach to do it.
Cal sold the fanbase on that pitch and some have bitten into it front teeth first. I mean my god we got dudes saying who cares. And we stupid fans have a goal of winning titles. We must have been raised wrong.
This shit does not happen at Duke, KU, or UNC.........I wonder if it has to do with a coach who puts draft picks in front of program success.
So you think this is all on his handlers and not on Calipari? Here's a spoiler: They're all in on this shady deal. And it's all brought to you by K-Fund donations and your tax dollars.IF that’s the case, he and his handlers are a bunch of liars and I wouldn’t trust another word out of their mouths.
Definitely a good prospect. But wouldn’t put him in the special category(not that I would for our other signees either). Give me one of the elite 23 wings as a reclass or a second team all conference player like a Sahvir/Oscar level and all is whole in my book. If we miss on those, being upset for not having Smith would be validated imo.Smith was damn good. Scored like 33 against the best EYBL team in the country in the title game. He was begging to come to UK.

Jalen Johnson opted out last year at Duke. If you recruit/land enough of the top 15 kids over an extended period of time, you're going to get burned eventually, whether you're Cal, K, or anyone else. This shit does not happen at Duke, KU, or UNC.........I wonder if it has to do with a coach who puts draft picks in front of program success.
So let’s stop pussyfooting around and fire Cal. For being too trusting? It absolutely does not happen at those programs. Dig up my post where I said I had a funny suspicion if Sharpe signed with UK over Duke there’s a reason. Here it is.
Cal can be played a fool because he wants to be connected to NBA players. He’s got a vision where he’s some Italian Godfather of the NBA player, and he doesn’t care what happens to UK as long as he can maintain his position.
If Sharpe does not play and leaves UK without contributing, he should have to return his money. The NIL contracts need to have stipulations that if you do not contribute at UK you don’t collect. And I’m sure after this they will.
It appears He’s at UK so he can make money without contributing. Cals fine with it because it’s all about Calipari and his connections to nba guys. UK and our position comes third.
People need to stop asking why many are sick to death of John Calipari.
If there is a chance that the #1 kid plays, which there still is, albeit a small one, you just cant do that. You have to take the risk of if he does play in college, it is at your school. You tell him if he’s not going to play to go somewhere else. It’s time fans of this program stop helping pimp this university for an NBA players profit.
