Rupp Rafters NBA Legends GM Draft Round 10 Aike OTC

I’m taking David Thompson, and I’m going to count on Magic to keep him away from the nose candy.

Well he's not a power forward but you're free to try and convince people otherwise.
Interesting. I'm asking a real question here, what makes him a C rather than a PF? In Sacramento he played with WCS quite a bit. Willie was the C. In NO it seems like 2 PF's are on the floor with he and AD. I'm not a big NBA guy, which you know, but other than his size, he doesn't seem to play like a C to me.

If we're in the part of the draft where guys like John Wall, Draymond and Klay Thompson are being taken, then let me go ahead and make sure this one-of-a-kind future Hall of Famer is on my team.

In the last four years, his scoring has gone from 13 ppg, to 17, to 23, to 27 ppg this year. His rebounding from 7 to 10. His 3 point percentage from 16 to 31. His assists from 2.6 to 5.

Additionally, the last two seasons he has averaged 1.6 steals and 1.7 blocks per game.

This past season, he posted 27-10-5-1.5-1.5 with an eFG% of 55 and a per of 27.

He's already a soon to be 2x All-NBA and All-Defense selection at age 23, and at the rate he's going, will be one of the 50-best players to ever play.

He's the perfect versatile fit for my team at 6'11 225 with guard skills.

Give me Giannis Antetokounmpo. F/G

I think people still get too hung up on labels. He’s a “big.” A post presence. Obviously mobile.

But if someone is insistent on choosing between Center or PF for Cousins, I’m calling him a Center because I can’t see him guarding a lot of the stretch power forwards in the modern NBA. At least that wouldn’t be the preference.

He's a center in the same way Karl Towns and others are centers. They can face-up and shoot from the perimeter, but you basically are what you guard.

It's why most places list Nerlens Noel as a PF despite having little perimeter game, because he's better suited for moving his feet against quicker PFs than battling big centers in the post.

In Sacramento and New Orleans, Boogie was guarding the 5 in both of those pairings. It's his natural fit, and since teams don't think they can say they have two C's on the court, they call them both forwards now even if neither is really a forward.

It's the same reason LeBron isn't a PG despite having the ball in his hands and averaging lots of assists.

Let me go ahead and snag another big man.

The year blocked shots became an official stat, this guy posted 23 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks and 1.5 steals. He never shot below 49%, and his career eFG% is 52. He also shot 77% from the stripe for his career at nearly 7 feet tall and averaged more than 3 assists per game as a center.

In the 1970s, only one guy had more win shares (and he's my starting center), and his VORP in that stretch (once they kept the stat, toward the downside of his prime) was nearly 7.

One of the top 70 players in basketball history, give me Bob Lanier.

Ah, ok. .

Watch Lanier give Moses and Walton that work. Also note that sky hook (you think it's gone when Kareem goes to the bench? Nope), the midrange jumper, the fadeaway, jumping the passing lane and running the break himself for a dunk and the footwork.

And this is all from a bit later in his career, not his peak.

8x all star, Pistons all time PPG leader.

Some of you guys need this cat starting for your teams.

I considered him when I drafted Artis, but ultimately I liked the 7’2” and massive strength of Gilmore more. Can’t really go wrong with Lanier though.

Gilmore just *looks* really cool. The size, the afro, even if he couldn't play he looks like he'd be dominant. To people who never saw them play, that's worth a lot.

I was hoping this run of current guys would stay strong and Lanier would fall to me. He was a stud.

Pretty happy this next player is still on the board. All-NBA player who is the perfect complementary piece to a championship level team.

I can bring him off the bench for AD, or just as easily play him next to AD for a speed lineup if anyone wants to go “small.”

Give me Chris Bosh.

Jeez @Aike, excellent pick. Talk about a steal. That's actually my daughter's favorite player.
