Rupp Rafters NBA Legends GM Draft Round 10 Aike OTC

My 6th man will be no other than “The Teacher” Adrian Dantley. Dantley was a 2x scoring champ, career 24 ppg scorer. Not only that, also one of only 4 players in league history to average 30 points in 4 consecutive seasons.

@gossie21 you’re OTC

I'll jump in my way-back machine and select my first player to play before the advent of the 3-point shot. He actually only has one career 3-point attempt and missed it.

What he does add is a ton of defense, rebounding, and that all-so-sexy outlet passing. He was Sir Charles before Barkley. Won rookie of the year and NBA MVP in the same season. Won a championship and Finals MVP in 1978. He is 14th all-time in rebounding, but 6th all-time in rebounds per game.

I'm starting my second unit with Wes Unseld.

No joke Dantley and English were both in play for me as well as Unseld but one guy stood out a bit more than big Wes to rebound and strech the floor for me. Give me the Big Horse. Dan Issel

Maybe one round early BUT the GSW have shown the world they have a GOAT backcourt. So let me pick Klay Thompson who will be right behind my other player Steph Curry in the 3 point rankings when it is all said and done.

I would have picked him before he got back to you. No real reason he should be behind guys like Reggie Miller other than longevity.

I was thinking that. He's the ultimate complimentary player. Stick him on any team and he will score 20+ without demanding the ball, open up the floor, and play good defense.

But thats why you (I) pick Miller. He was consistently brilliant over a long period of time.

Klay could have a career ending injury tomorrow and we might view him in a tier with other role players. Also you could put Miller in the GSW system and watch him set records every season as well.

That’s one of the fun things about a draft like this - people can view careers however they choose. Do you prefer someone who burned brightly for 5 seasons or someone who was consistent for 10?

At the very very top we sort of have criteria - stats, titles, dominating an era. But drop a tier and things get a lot murkier.

Are guys like Barkley and Malone really greater than Durant, for instance?

When another generation passes, might guys like Barkley slip back below the Elgin Baylor’s of the world. (Just to give one example).

The Mailman is better than Durant to this point.

The Mailman and Payton missed like 20 games total in 34 years.

LOL longetivity doesn't make you better. Maybe you have the career numbers to back it up. I prefer looking at a 3-4 year peak

Never said it did make it better but it sure doesn’t hurt anything... i like when my players play personally. Haha. his numbers speak to his greatness.

What if a player has a peak of like 35-16-5-4 for a few years but also is an all star 19 times and plays for two decades? Is that good?

I love Kareem, man. Sorry I had to draft a guy who could shove him out of the way with one arm.

I'm having to go to plan B w/ every pick...it's hard to decide which player has the best chance of still being there when I get back to my turn. My entire list of 2nd team centers disappeared in this round. So let me go ahead and nail my 4 before he disappears: Rasheed Wallace

Came close to taking him with my Wallace pick...thought there was a better chance of Hill slipping through the round to my next turn
I feel as though Wallace would have been more likely to have came back around, but then you have the pass to Lattener aspect. Both good picks, in my opinion. Wallace with a much better career overall, but I believe Grants best version was substantially better than Rasheed’s

There's seemed to be a premium on size--the fact that every center I had on my board for 2nd team got snatched up before my 6th round pick was a strong influence to take Rasheed, whose best may not have been quite as good as Hill's, but it's not far from it.

Very true. I felt I had to take Patrick with my second pick to compete with the dominant Centers in this draft
