I'm usually not the grammar police, but every one of your posts has something wrong with it grammatically. Take a basic English course.

Back to the subject at hand. Just as I thought......you're one of the butt hurt football fans that can't stand the basketball program's success over the years.

Please again enlighten us to how Coach Cal 'can't coach' which is what you said. At least you agreed to what someone else said.

No i'm really kink of Poed about Football right now but i am holding out Hope !! If you really want enlightenment Shave your head and Become a Monk !!

You obviously can't take any joy in our basketball success because of our horrible football program. That's just sad.

I always hope for football to be better, but I know it's not realistic to expect us to ever have a top tier contender in that sport. We have that in basketball. Embrace it or just stay on Wildcat Lair.

Depends on if they want their offspring trained in the art of adulterous fornication and scandal.
It seems appealing to the birth defects.

Ya know every team has their idiots. We're no exception. The guy brought us back from obscurity. So what he flipped off a fan big deal. It was probably nutz on the rail guy or some dude who just dropped 80 bones on beer. The dude is an fn retard. Keep his banner up. Sure he's brought a lot of it on himself. I don't see umass protesting cals banner after he made them a national force. Let it be
Like the UMass incident and Rick's Louisville incidents are even remotely similar. I couldn't care less if the banner stays or goes but comparing the 2 incidents is absurd even though I know what you are getting at.

Honestly if your kid is truly "elite" it doesn't matter where he goes. If he's really good he could obviously take advantage of the KY effect......as long as he's playing "good enough" to get time with the "elite" players. There's also a good chance he'll get a lot of pine time and get recruited over. Just the way it is at UK. As Cal always says, it's not for everyone. Just look at how many people are now bashing Skal. A young kid with impressive skills that just isn't ready physically.
So many reasons and issues posted have nothing to do with teaching basketball but are your own personal preconceived opinions. Most of you wouldn't even consider Pitino even though he's a HOF coach with 2 NC rings. Honestly that's exactly what I expected. I have no problem with it.

Preconceived opinions? For Pitino? I'm sorry but thats just a ridiculous notion for someone with his past and background. My opinion of him on this thread topic has nothing to do with his coaching ability and everything to do with Pitino as a leader, father figure, and character and I can guarantee that it is not preconceived by any stretch. I would not send my son to play for Cal if he had that type of scandalous past and ran that type of program. Even if Pitino didn't know about what was going on (which I think he did), then he should have known. Somebody in his staff was a key contributor in the scandal and it's just hard for me to believe he did not know. So, the fact that he has won 2 titles means very little to me if I can't trust him with my child while he is there. If I don't think he is going to help build him into being a good man while he is there and in my absence, then I sure as hell am not sending my son to a person like that, whether his name is Pitino or Joe Bob. Its just not happening and I assure you that it's not a preconceived opinion but one based on facts over years and years of character issues.

Also, considering it was a thread that asked for opinions, it's quite understanding that this thread is full of opinions. Did you expect something different when you read the OP's post?

Pitino made a greedy, prideful mistake when he left UK to go to Boston. That's according to Rick.

I know you can play 'what if' games all day long, but I do have to wonder if he'd say this had the Celtics gotten the #1 pick in the 1997 NBA Draft (they had the best odds for it) and drafted Tim Duncan, who would have been a franchise changer. Instead they ended up with Chauncey Billups (very good player, but his best days were in Detroit) and Ron Mercer (solid career, but didn't spend long in Boston) at numbers 3 and 6.

Obviously Pitino was far from a great NBA coach, but Duncan could have made him look like a genius.

Stingray, you're better than this man. This is a weak take. If your kid is truly elite, it DOES matter where he goes. It's especially important if he wants to get to the NBA asap. I understand your point, but the facts don't support your theory. Calipari has proven himself that he can get guys ready. The combination of Cal's ability and the stage that UK provides is the best in the world for a kid wanting to make it to the NBA. There is no denying it and, even if you try, it's clear the recruits know the truth.

The idea that great players will sit the bench at UK is also blatantly false. Name an elite recruit who has had to sit. Cal used the platoons last season to keep from having to sit recruits. You must have forgotten that, eh?

Skal hasn't been sitting the bench. He's been given many chances and he will continue to get more minutes. He's improving. As for those criticizing him, there are many factors that go into that. Ultimately he has to perform when he's on the floor. Pssst... it's that way ANYWHERE a player goes. If you play well, you get more minutes.

Define "preconceived notions" for me. How else can anyone answer this question? You have to decide based on what you know. Is preconceived before his multiple affairs? Is it before he had sex on a table? Is it before he paid his assistant to take his mistress to abort his child? Is it before he testified to all these things without blinking? Is it before he flipped Rupp Arena the bird? Are these preconceived notions of mine?

Rick Pitino is a terrible human being who is a great basketball coach. If the coach-player relationship were just a transaction of Basketball knowledge, I would consider Pitino as a good candidate but that's not the case, is it? No, this man would be one of the most significant influences in my son's life. That's why there's not a chance I'd hand my son over to him. This hooker recruiting is what happens.

As I say stringray, you're better than this. Don't defend Pitino. He's not worth defending. His bird flying Saturday leaves no doubt.

Don't kid yourself Zipp is here under a fake account acting like the UK fan he wants to be.

Not sure he is. With the 100's of posts he has on the Tard board daily trying to get people to think his "LPT" thing is funny he does not have the time. It has to be embarrassing as a U of L fan to have that guy as a fellow fan and board member. Don't know if anyone could purposely be more of a tool with his antics, and he is delusional to the point that you can see why he is a registered offender, pushes old women around (as caught on tape), and is the stereotypical dork/geek type who could never blend in with society so his only hope is as a faceless poster on a message board.

The constant "we are UK's Super Bowl line" is so retarded, and you would think that after it has become so lopsided they would maybe make a little effort to try and win a game. I guess when you think about it he was ahead of everyone with the LPT thing since it will soon mean "Louisville's Probation Terms" from the NCAA :)

Those guys should be labeled "Done and Ones", since they graduated first, then returned for one year...

They graduate????[laughing] I hate to break it to you but Cal's players have a better graduation rate... (I like that Done and One though.)

Yep, seems pretty clear. The fans immediate reaction seems to confirm it.

The most disgusting part of it, to me, is how Pitino tried to play the victim in his weak denial by claiming horrible things were being yelled at him when the audio on the video doesn't confirm that at all. All anybody yells is something like "one and done". Besides, Pitino is very well compensated to take abuse from opposing fans and should quit playing the victim when the video shows the fans behaving much better than him.

UK should go ahead and take down his banner. This was just the final straw.

In fairness I want the ncaa to take care of business with uncheat first. It seems they can't do more than one thing at a time though they may bump this ahead of uncheat's issues just for GP since it was such a heinous act. uncheat's "alleged" crimes are just not that important in the grand scheme...

Cal is a great coach until the FF and then he goes brain dead most of the time.
So Cal has been to 6 Final 4s now. Was he brain dead in 96 or just up against a better team? I agree he made mistakes in 2008 that allowed KU to win that title. 2011....brain dead or we just couldn't win because Terrence Jones went 0-5 from the foul line? 2012....I guess he wasn't brain dead. 2014....brain dead or just that the team ran out of miracles? 2015....I agree he should've done something....call a timeout or whatever....after that first shot clock violation.

Also, does Tom Izzo go brain dead in the final 4? He is only 1-6 once he gets to Final 4.

What gets me is that it was such a little bird. Weak sauce. Go big or go home. Well, I guess he did home...

How charming, ad hominem attacks.
The last recourse of the logically challenged. Here's a tip boyo, if you cant summon up enough intellectual fortitude to refute my points, then just walk back in your bubble and move on.

You'll save face in the long run.

Oh and for the record, I've been a UK fan my entire and will always respect what pitino did to bring this program back to glory, after the darkest moment(that seemed more like a lifetime) in UK history. The failed experiment that was Eddie Sutton nearly destroyed not just the program, but the hearts and minds of all basketball loving Kentuckians whose greatest source of pride(excluding the minority of UofL fans) was in the teams who put on those blue and white jerseys and fought like wildcats on the court every year, declaring with every made shot who the true king of college basketball was and always will be.

Rick pitino's behavior was abhorrent and unbecoming of anyone with even a modicum of common courtesy and you will not read one defensive argument from me about it. But I'm also going to abstain from joining the remonstrating lynch mob calling for the tar and feathers and figurative noose all because he's turned into a sore loser in his advanced age.

He's apart of our history whether you like it or not, and deluding yourself into believing he was not instrumental in helping to rebuild our program into it's current iteration of the past 20+ years is nothing more than an exercise in stupidity.

Solid post, as was the one earlier.
