I did not see "Shawn's" post. After reading it, the explanation is simple. He had legal counsel present at that press conference and had the go ahead to say what he said. I highly doubt the attorney's went to Michigan with them.

How hard would it be to simply say "I can't comment whatsoever on the scandal, so if you ask any non-basketball questions, I am simply not going to answer." That is pretty easy. The problem? Yeah, Id like some examples as well. I admit I do not watch enough post-game to be an expert on any coach's percentage of blowoffs of postgame interviews, but Cal seems to always show up as far as I know.
I don't listen to enough UK games to know the answer to that but I do know that he blows off most of his coaches shows each week. Even Lachlan McLean called him on that one.

Then we immediately get this Meiners interview and I believe that ol Ricky's intent was to let Ramsey know in a very puplic way that he wasn't going to quit and give up his buyout.
