It's always funny when Rick never wants to talk to the media only after losses. If the Cards win, he's always willing to tell everyone how great of a coaching job he just did and how many future nba superstars the other team had on it. What a blowhard! Rick needs to just retire already if coaching and talking to the media is that big of a hassle. You're being paid millions of dollars. It's always amazing to me these guys act like they can do whatever they wish.
Dakich said the latest scandal, along with the history of sex scandals at UL, would cause him to remove RP as coach. DD said Rick was luck to have an AD that supported him so strongly, that he (DD) wouldn't want RP to be his coach if he were the UL AD.
While traveling a couple of weeks ago I was listening to WLW out of Cincinnati on a Sunday afternoon. It was an extended Sunday morning sports talk show that morphed into the UC b'ball pregame show. Host had a guest on, I didn't catch his name 'cause I wasn't paying a lot of attention, but he was a TV b'ball analyst. Totally ripped RP. Said he should have been fired, etc, etc. Ripped UL as an institution that would allow someone like RP to be their coach. Pulled no punches. May have been the guy last night 'cause when the host asked him what he thought would be his toughest game this season to cover (or something like that) the guy kind of chuckled and said UL 'cause RP would be out for him. Wish I had been paying better attention when he was introduced.

Pitino has been advised by University attorneys not to speak to the media. He did a St Louis postgame but only for 11 minutes. He did Samford, the first game. Other than that, he hasn't done any media other than his blog.
Funny I've heard him spew plenty of Lies Nationally on a regular basis since they told him that,the only time he has nothing to say is when he loses

This was on October 8th before advice of counsel. Involvement in a legal proceeding, virtually any legal proceeding, precludes media statements unless reviewed by subjects attorneys. He literally cannot talk unless he has a lawyer present. Anything he says could compromise the investigation. The Meiners interview was anything but friendly, if you listened to it.

He could take questions on the game and refuse to answer questions related to the scandal/investigation. Kind of simple really.

Apparently he's had legal troubles for years, because this isn't exactly the first post game press conference he's run from.
SEXtino gets paid to do post game press conferences..He justs fluffs the media and Tommy Turleneck doesn't have the Ballz to make him man up...
So let me get this straight. He has been advised by the University to not speak to the media and that is why he didn't do the post game press conference. Yet he has done other post game press conferences even though he was advised not to. He "literally" cannot talk to the media unless a lawyer is present but he has done post game press conferences after the St Louis and Samford games. Did he have a lawyer present then? Seems like there are some inconsistencies between what is happening and what UofL fans say is happening. Everyone knows that Pitino is still going to talk to the media when he has some BS to say that no one other than UofL fans believe. He has dodged press conferences for years after losses. Him missing that press conference had nothing to do with the scandal. If UofL had won last night, Pitino would have sprinted to the podium.

He could have come out and said how proud he was of his team. How they almost beat the #3 ranked team in the nation. Nah whores.
You can't seriously have your head buried that deeply in the sand or up Pitino's ass. He JUST had a press conference where, despite again reiterating that he has been advised not to speak in the scandal, he proceeded to speak on the scandal. He admitted some stuff was probably true but then relied on the word of other hookers to chastise the media for believing the worst of the scandal. The guy is a serious piece of work, and it is sad that someone runs to his defense on a message board.
I haven't read through the thread yet so if someone has already commented on this I'm sorry. Rick is not talking to the media to the advice of legal counsel. It's nothing more than that.
Also, I doubt Ralph Willard was the one talking to the media since he was asked by Rick to retire because of the health issues he incurred over this scandal. Apparently, he is having some major heart problems that stem from his worry over all of the allegations that Powell has thrown out. Ralph's job right now is to stay out of this and get healthy. I think we can all agree that we would like to see him get better.
