Hope Senzel keeps this streak up. I get it's a small sample size, we know. That said, never has he shown the power consistently at the plate in a Reds uniform in any run in the past. Hitting them at Petco Park is nothing to sneeze at as one of the biggest parks in the league. Far from the point where I'm going to say Nick has turned the corner for good. Last summer, Senzel hit .300 for about a month but lacked the power numbers. Given he has been snake bit his entire career, I'm not going to minimalize the streak either for a guy like Senzel as long as he has been in MLB that hitting 3 home runs in a week to just be some fluke when he is hitting for average along with it too.
He needs to keep producing through May, about 6 weeks then maybe you can start talking about him as a fixture in the lineup for the long term instead of just looking at it as riding the hot hand right now. Like I said in the last page, whoever steps up between Senzel & Barrero emerging as a hitter, stay healthy and offer the most flexibility in the lineup should be the one that gets to play by the time the prospects in AAA arrive. It only helps the Reds for them to get it together. Better late than never with guys like Elly De La Cruz & Matt McLain breathing down their neck.
