Reds

I don't see this Front Office having the gumption to call up any immediate impact prospect until sometime in June at the earliest or post trade deadline. They're content riding this thing out no matter how ugly it gets. It is an ownership group that wants to hang a banner for splitting a series on the road vs the Braves last season.
Agreed, FO doesn't care if they win or lose. But with attendance at an all time low they have to at least play like they're trying to change. With long losing streak they have to have a roster redo.

Good lord, Senzel still in starting lineup vs Texas? The guy's bound to have video/audio of somebody in the FO in compromising situation.

No, don't see an EDLC call up. He's having a ST redo as is. Same with CES, give them 6-8 AAA games. But I see Reynolds, Chucky, McClain and either Hopkins or Ramos call up this week...at least. Maile and Newman released and Senzel/Vosler sent down for starters, wouldn't unpack from the road trip if I were those guys.
Agree, I would take Reynolds & Hopkins on this team now in addition to the ones we want up here too. Reynolds gives them versatility all through the IF/OF unlike Newman. Vosler is what he is, not MLB caliber talent and agree Senzel must have something on this FO to warrant so many chances to continue to start yet fail. This does absolutely nothing to build for the future. Too much dead weight in the lineup right now.

McLain has nothing left to prove to me and I'd give CES the same timeline to show what he can do in Louisville. If anything like his ST, time to call him up. Can't even find a quality hitter for DH so you can't tell me there isn't room for CES and resting Stephenson too. Votto not even in the equation right now.

Since Stephenson has caught at least 2 of every 3 games anyways, 7 of his 1st 8 games this year at catcher I don't think it's necessary to have 3 catchers on the roster and as long as Robinson is looking good in AAA, there's some insurance with him there and can use this roster spot of Maile to bring up a hitter that will help this team.

Ramos had a really good Spring Training and carried it over for the Bats. Thought he had a real shot to make the team out of ST. Hope this move works for the Reds now. Benson still has 1 hit in Louisville.

Our whole outfield is bad.
Friedl isn't bad a player at all. He's finally getting his chance as an everyday player and has taken this job and ran with it. Has shown glimpses of putting it together in the past and so far this year he is paying off. He at least busts his ass which is far more than you can say about guys like Nick Senzel who have been handed chance after chance.

Improbable outcome for a team that seldom wins. Who would've thought a ML pitcher would issue back to back bases loaded walks to a guy who was in the minor leagues 24 hours earlier and a guy "hitting" .130? Talk about not trusting your stuff!

Major concerns for Lodolo.

Friedl's only really big drawback is a below average throwing arm. He really only has an arm for LF. Otherwise he's a decent hitter with good speed.

I like the lineup move putting Friedl in LF since the start of the Pirates series. His hot hitting streak has dated back to some point last August and I don't think it's any fluke. Needed someone to emerge to be a quality hitter in this lineup. Reds hits leader with 25 and the only one batting over .300 now, tied for the most home runs & RBIs with Vosler gone though that speaks to the piss poor production of everyone else if Friedl is carrying the load there. India & Steer have been the only other consistent hitters in this lineup.

Hopefully he isn't injured. I know it's early but may considering pushing him back or skip a start as they will need to do that anyways to rest the young starters. It was 3 starts into last season when he got placed on the IL until July. They get a day off before playing literally one of the few teams worse than the Reds with Oakland. 33 years ago would have never thought these 2 organizations would be in the shape they're in and Oakland losing another team to Vegas.

ROTFLMAO!! Went to Reds link on mlb.com and what do I find.....a film clip of Senzel's bases loaded walk to tie last night's game! Ex-Top 5 pick, #2 overall and 7 years later his "highlight" is a bases loaded walk. God, whatever.

Saw where the Reds and Graham Ashcraft have began talks for a contract extension. Abbott promoted to Louisville and Lyon Richardson replacing him in Chattanooga.

Pirates extend Reynolds for 8 years, smart move.

For $106 million, that's a good deal for them. It's amazing what 3 weeks of play can do to change his mind all of a sudden that he commits long term to the Pirates after wanting out throughout the entire offseason. Like many of the Reds though, doubt he sees the end of that contract in a Pirates uniform.

That's the only knock right there is the Reds have a couple of guys in Friedl & Fraley who I expect will get it together, both are better off in LF. It's really time to hand CF over to Barrero, callup McLain at SS or see what Matt can do in CF as he did for the Bruins. One can only hope Ramos can be a 'stop gap' but he is a 31-year old outfielder for a reason. Even if he carves out a few good years, he's not apart of the long term future.

Can any of us say for certain who the Reds outfielders will be 3 years from now? Blake Dunn is doing well but a 24-year old still stuck in A Ball. Jay Allen II was batting .111 before being placed on the 60-day IL, likely pushes his development back an entire year. Hendrick no real improvement at this point in the season. Maybe Benson but that seems far-fetched right now. Siani, excellent speed, defensive potential but can't hit. Hopkins appears ready, McGarry doesn't. Don't see Hinds or Cerda being everyday outfielders either. You mentioned Yerlin Confidan awhile back, perhaps he can rebound to help the Reds but don't see that happening in the next couple of seasons.

Maybe Almonte can be a long term Reds OF product but it's shocking to see how poorly the Reds have drafted outfielders in the last decade. Development is even worse. I have very little faith in them relocating the plethora of infielders to the OF.

The Reds are so fundamentally bad it's comical. Senzel is a terrible centerfielder, Stephenson just gave Texas a run and let the guy go from second to third because he had his head down and jogged over to tap the first base bag on the grounder that he booted. It's borderline High School.

Hector Rodriguez is another one I looked over though it's still a long way off at 19.

Reds OF routinely makes poor plays, take wrong angle to balls, miss cutoff man or throw to wrong base. I think Pickler is responsible for OF D, was greatly surprised he wasn't replaced after last year.

You're right, TS gets lazy at times at 1B.

Just took the series vs the AL West leading Rangers and Graham Ashcraft on the mound tomorrow. Lets go for the sweep!

It's good to see the FO move up pitching in the pipeline that can help this year. I think it's time to move some position players up too and help the offense with the recent quality pitching the Reds have gotten.

3-4, 4 RBIs and a triple away from hitting for the cycle tonight. Hitting .310, 6 HRs, 18 RBIs & 6 SBs right now.

If the Reds are serious about "building" they'll call this guy up NOW, release Newman, put Barrero in CF and McClain at SS. Maile, Senzel, Myers hanging on by a thread. Can't believe they'd start a West Coast trip status quo.

Hard to believe Barrero has only 342 at bats in MLB. Saw a Dodgers site this morning that listed him at #2 of 3 SS trade targets. Says something still if a team coming off 100 wins has people interested. Still very much in the window early in his career where he can improve. Playing CF only boosts his value here or elsewhere. The last thing I want to see is another Edwin Encarnacion situation struggle here for a few years, move on and another team reaps the benefits.

Great bounceback series for Senzel and the Reds. His base-running still sucks but the bat has come back to life. The bullpen finally gave up a run but kept the team in the game for the walk-off HR in the bottom of the 9th. 🧹

The bullpen has really done a 180 from the start of the season. Hope they stomp all over the A's for another sweep kicking them while they are down. The worst in all of baseball. Love looking down at the St. Louis Cardinals in the division for now ahead 0.5 games. Hope they lose tonight for all of the smug fans that are really quiet this year for some reason lol

Yeah, I know I sound like a broken record but the bullpen is a big piece of a MLB baseball team who's starters are lucky to pitch 6 innings. The Reds simply can't be competitive pitching the way they had been the past couple years.

I'm curious how Ramos hits on the road. He's been a huge help this series. Senzel, generally speaking, is not a smart player but seems like a good kid. Happy for him but I don't see how anyone can expect much more than this tbh.

I fully expect the Reds to finish last in the Central but in complete rebuild mode, you hope they can slightly improve along the way to respectability in 2024-25.

If Senzel's going to play, and it looks like they're going to force him on us, I hope he can stay healthy long enough and produce enough that they can flip him for a prospect in the off season. That base running gaff today....the guy must be dumber than the handle on a coal bucket.
