CE-S is my hope as Reds next 1B. Yeah, I don't get his ranking either. And McGarry, out of Oregon St I think, also put up big minor league numbers and gets nary a mention. Is it because the Reds minor leagues is THAT strong??Been messing around with some Bowman First Chrome auto cards. I've been looking for some prospects to buy. Everyone knows about Elly, and that's reflected in his card prices. So, I was looking elsewhere and noticed a Reds prospect I haven't paid much attention to.
Talk to me about Christian Encarnocion-Strand. He came over from the Twins.
What's this guy's deal? First full season of MILB after going 4th round out of OK State in 2021. He absolutely CRUSHED the ball this year. 952 OPS with 32 homers, 31 doubles, and 5 triples with a 304 batting average and 114 RBI in 484 at bats. Rated as a decent defender on the corners. Played as a 22 year old all season between A+ and AA. Looks like a tank too. He does strike out quite a bit and doesn't walk a lot. But those hitting numbers are eye opening.
Yet, he's not rated in the Top 10 of Reds prospects much less top 100 of MLB prospects. What's his deal? Do scouts just think his game's not going to translate to the next level or what? Because the numbers suggest he's a possible superstar.
