I wouldn't worry about it. God knows his true intentions...

Interesting that your imaginary friend seems to know peoples’ intentions. But he never does anything about it. He just sits back and observes, I guess? It would really be swell if he knew intentions, then stepped in and stopped mass shooters, crazed dictators and pedophile priests. What good does it do for him to know if he remains invisible, inactive and silent?

Ahhh.. therein lies your problem, my man. What if, 20 years before the mass shooting happens, the would be perpetrator of that mass shooting (to occur 20 years in the future) died at the hands of childhood cancer...are you going to applaud God for preventing this unspeakable tragedy 20 years before it happened, or are you going to yell at God for allowing children to die from cancer??

We can't see the entire tapestry of why God allows things to happen in our lives or in the world. If we could, we would be god, and God would no longer be worthy of worship. I see the evidence of God's goodness all over my life, as do millions of others. I find rest in His plan.

Ah, what if?

Yeah, I never yell at your imaginary friend over childhood cancer. But I do ask questions of those that saying crap like, “it’s all part of god’s plan”. But, the only answers I ever get are non answers, similar to what you said above. “We can’t understand”. “He works in mysterious ways”. “Who are we to question?”

When did I say "who are we to question?" I question God all the time. I don't understand why He does what He does. Or why He allows what He allows. But He's God, I'm not. It's rather pretty simple.

If I knew everything He did, He wouldn't be worthy of worship. It is an impossibility to come anywhere close to completey understanding God. You can't fit His infinite being inside our finite heads. Again, if we could, He wouldn't be God.

I gave you a completely reasonable response. And that is without even bringing up the consequences of sin or having free will.

There was a cool story a pastor told. A woman was raped. Absolutely tragic. The man got away with it and was never caught. Despite what everyone told her, she decided to keep the baby. That baby ended being him (the pastor telling the story). God has used him to bring many people to Christ, to help raise tons of money for local charities and those in need. Too bad God didn't stop that rape. There's always a reason God allows something to happen, whether we see it or not.

And you truly started with, “there was a cool story…”? Then proceed to tell about a rape? Is the cool part the rape, or that your imaginary friend chose to allow another preacher to exist at the physical and emotional expense of an innocent victim?

WTF is is wrong with you?

Dude...any chance you get to bag on Chrisitans and pervert what they say, you 100% take. Anyone who reads what I posted (and everyone in this thread knows me and my posting style), knows the intent and context behind what I posted.

You have now lost all credibility, as a poster, in my mind, for once again intentionally perverting what I said in an attempt to make me look morally inferior, something I would never do to you.

Like I promised you earlier in this thread, I have prayed for you and numerous other people in this thread each day to find and follow Jesus. I will continue to do so.

However, I will no longer be responding to your posts in this thread.

Good. Then I get the last word.

You claim I intentionally attempt to make you feel morally inferior, something you would never do? Then you follow it up with telling me that you will use your hotline to heaven, and you’ll mumble to yourself thinking that you’re asking your imaginary friend to save my soul. That’s hilarious! You get to condescend to me, while placing yourself on your perceived moral high ground. Classic!

Nothing at all cool about your rape story. Zero. Nada. It’s freaking heinous, and you should have called it that. Yes, you said that the rape was tragic. Still the story is not cool. Reminds me of when I see stories of a violent storm that rips through a town, destroying dozens of homes and killing some folks. Then, invariably, someone says what a miracle it is that the local church was unharmed, and that god is good. As if those two things balance out. No! And your preacher is born due to a violent crime does not balance anything either.

I’ve got no qualms with you personally. I’m sure you’re a good dude. It’s your thinking and your belief system that really irks me. If you’re ever in SW Ohio, let me know. I’ll buy you a burger and a beer as payment for whatever hurt I’ve caused you by ripping on your favorite book and favorite religion.

Go Big Blue!

Religion and politics are hot topics, people who would normally get along fine get into heated arguments. Like when I wear my Yankee hat in the Pacific Northwest. I even have a A Rod Yankee jersey haha. Old ladies give me looks of disgust.

Never understood why Christians represent their faith with a cross. I mean.... if the the JC story is true, upon his return, seeing all these crosses should piss him off. Not very welcoming to say the least.

We can all agree @WildcatfaninOhio has never had sex, right? And if so it was missionary with a pale fat woman in Ohio, correct? Probably floppy tits, moon size nipples, just a traditional Midwestern chick you bang because it’s there.

If JC had been executed by lethal injection.

Seems more respectable than your pastors and priests corn-holing little boys.
I’ll wax your wife or gf with ZERO regrets and actually show her a decent time for once while having her dropped back off before midnight so you can stop clutching your pearls and wondering where she is.

No just another day actually. And the fact you admitted she’s a ne’er do well that you married says plenty.

Maybe you could use a little Jesus in your life or hers bro? I guarantee you some other dudes definitely have your girl a few passages.

Psalms 137:9 Here god commands that infants should be “dashed upon the rocks”.

And,

“If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.” (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

God is "love", yeah right.

What god makes you rely on a book filled to the brim with contradictions as truth?

A perfect god, with an imperfect book that is supposedly the word of God makes no sense.

How Christian of you.
Exactly. I’m going to punish your wives and then I’ll ask for forgiveness and all is well.

Meanwhile, you think you’re the cats pajamas and your wife is DMing a guy like me on insta, lying next to you in bed, who’s going to Dick her down and crush your relationship and walk away with no effs given. Enjoy.

CHILD SEX ABUSE BY ILLINOIS CATHOLIC CLERGY SPANS STATE AND DECADES, AG INVESTIGATION FINDS

I wonder how many of those priests will do jail time? And how many of the 3.5 million Catholics in the area will stop funding the world’s largest and most powerful crime ring?

Someone earlier in this very thread had the balls to comment on the Catholic Church by downplaying their heinous crimes by referring to their “warts”. Almost 2,000 victims mentioned here in one diocese. Warts!?! I’d laugh if it weren’t so horrendous and sad.

There just can’t be a god. At least not a loving one. One that would remain invisible and silent while this happens to children. What a crock!
Yeah, but as a Bab-tist friend of mine once said (with a straight face) about the Catholics, "those people aren't real Christians".....

And, of course, sexual abuse would never occur in the Baptist church, would it?

US Southern Baptist churches facing ‘apocalypse’ over sexual abuse scandal
Of course it will. Every sort of failure will happen to individuals within the church or any institution. People are not made sinless because they are in the church. Many are there because they recognize their sin and their need for a savior. You can walk through a hospital and see more sick people than you would see walking through a museum, but you would never go to a museum if you felt sick. The church is filled with sinners. No doubt. Sinners will sin and sin hurts people. The church is no exception.

My mom's church deacon cousin went to prison for it. There were other victims over the years besides the two he was convicted for, including a kid I grew up with who told said he'd kill him if he ever got the chance.
Sick freaks in all walks of life, unfortunately.

Very true! However…

When this is as widespread and pervasive as it is in a church, it’s far more troubling. Because churches will publicly profess to be good and holy and loving and wholesome, while privately they are full of sexual predators.

We can only hope that every last member of the clergy that has committed these heinous crimes is held accountable. And of course I mean serious prison time now, not some make believe reckoning after they die.

There is absolutely no question that sexual abuse has been a serious prevalent problem, of course, but it seems to me that vows of celibacy contribute mightily, along with the propensity of gays to "escape into the cloth" over the years by joining the priesthood. I see no reason why priests should not be permitted to marry in the Roman Catholic church, as they are in some rites of the Catholic tradition.

There would be many reasons to believe that the Abrahamic God doesn't exist or if he does, has been obscenely misrepresented though writings that resemble the knowledge base and morality of ancient Mesopotamia more than an omniscient, otherworldly, divine, loving entity. Those writings alone would be powerful evidence enough that if God exists, he doesn't want us to know very much about him.

The real kicker for me, however is just the general way so many Christians behave. It would be easy to point to a wave of Pedophiles Priests or Southern Baptist clergy, but I get all people make terrible mistakes and do terrible things. I also understand people might use religion to coax money out of other the more vulnerable. Many, many of us seem to be predisposed to prey on others-as a Republican Christian joked to me one time, "I wish we lived in a 'praying' society instead of a 'preying society. What I don't get is the ridicule and loathing that I see on a daily basis from those that should be at the very forefront of spreading love and kindness. Look no further than this board for a brief example. Forget about comparing Christians to Atheists-I don't know that Christians treat others better than any random group of Gorillas.

I also get the argument that the Church is a Hospital for sick souls. Fair enough-I'll buy it. Seems to me, however when one is in the Hospital, one wants to get OUT of the Hospital. one does not assume the Hospital is en excuse for bring permanently sick. If I'm in the hospital, I want to get out of the hospital, and if I need to change my behavior, so be it. Christianity seems to imply, if not outright say, "well we're all filthy sinners who are damned before God anyway...no need to not call my liberal brother a liar or a hypocrite just because he disagrees with me.

I believe but I have doubts and have always questioned things. Even as a kid, I would hear the story of Abraham or Job and think it was messed up for people to be asked to do these things. Others in my church would get some profound meaning out of it. I get what the point was; I just didn't always agree with it. And I've never been able to turn my brain off and stop questioning these things. Not saying others need to do that; just the way I've always been.

There are no questions not sufficiently answered in the Bible, at least not the ones typically posed by unbelievers looking to self-validate their unbelief.

Becoming a believer does not requisite "turning your brain off," as is understood by you atheists/agnostics.

Do you feel that you left your brain fully engaged, and still managed to believe that snakes can talk, two of every animal journeyed to one location and got on a boat, a man survived after being inside a huge fish for 3 days, multiple tales of men living to be hundreds of years old, a talking donkey, a virgin birth, and a dude coming back to life after being dead for 3 days? You never once “turned your brain off” and just accepted these absurdities as facts?

Some of those were fables just like anything else. Also, God and some of those stories aren’t supposed to be logical. You can’t apply logic to God. You’re trying to take your experience on earth and fit God into the same hole while using the wrong peg. You don’t have to believe, I certainly don’t give shit if you do, it’s just weird you spend so much time trying to make others believe what you do when that’s never going to happen.

Hop into the political thread and convince those bros to switch sides while you’re at it…
