Just as he waffled on the tariffs, Trump is now setting the stage to walk back his tough talk on undocumented workers. As someone who travels frequently, I can say with confidence that if Trump could somehow magically deport every undocumented worker, the hospitality industry would collapse by this evening. Farming? Same thing. Construction? Try putting a roof on your house. Meat processing? Those jobs are bloody, dirty, highly dangerous for very low pay, no insurance or benefits. Guess who does them?
America was built and is being built on slave land immigrant labor. We've never been able to break that cycle, and even if we could change course today, our economy would implode. Those who are forcing Trump and Miller to reverse course, are not the evil, liberal, marxist, communists, but the wealthy CEOs of American Corporations.
The violence that is occurring in Los Angeles, has nothing to do with undocumented workers. Trump is just revisiting the playbook of dictators and tyrants from the past, while playing on the racial fears and prejudices of the weak minded.
