Saw where California passed Japan, to become the world's 4th largest economy, at 4.1 trillion.

Considering that fact, why are they always needing bailouts from the Federal government? Further, I'd like to find a breakdown, state by state, ranking their net positive/net negative position with respect to Federal revenue produced vs. Federal funds received. Mainly to see if California is "living off of" some of these states that it loves to put down. Other than mandatory infrastructure dollars, I'm not sure WHY they continue funds from the rest of us, while essentially acting as a free soup kitchen and hospital for illegals.

I might be wrong, but it seems to me that if we get the economy really going, and reduce the debt to GDP ratio, and keep finding ways to trim the fat, that we can "tread water" on the debt until most of the boomers/the gray wave has passed, that that will start to lower the entitlement bubble that we're in, and at that point, it will be possible to start taking some large bites out of that debt.
The problem with that is each younger generation is proportionately smaller than the one turning 65/67/whatever. Never will be enough to pay all the current entitlement levels.

We need a lot of legal immigration to counter that along with bright minds vs. so many pot & meth heads.

Might be time for a few math problems.

For a guy who both wanted to overturn an election and is perfectly fine with staying in office longer than he was supposed to, he sure left office quietly w/out using that military he had at his disposal to remain in power.

Weird both of those things happened isn’t it? You know since he was so gung-ho on overturning the election and remaining in power.

It’s almost like the story you and the MSM and all the other leftists love to tell about J6 isn’t exactly true.
Military leadership at that time would have refused to follow Trump's illegal and unconstitutional commands.
Not as confident in current military leadership under Hegseth. His DUI hires are more loyal to Trump than the U.S. Constitution.

When someone or something takes something or yours without your assent, what is it besides theft? If the tax rate is 100% or even 90%, that's not legal theft? If your property is confiscated by government, that's not theft?

Legal theft is oxymoronic because it is a contradiction in terms: theft cannot be legal since it is defined by being unlawful. Your assent is maintaining citizenship.

If you want to revoke consent, you must first revoke/renounce citizenship. By being a citizen, you consent to be governed by laws, in this case tax laws.

If I was in charge, the second you come to my country and wave the flag of another while committing violence all bets are off. The restraint US officials constantly have against these invaders is rather commendable. However, at some point something has to give to send a message that it’s not going to be tolerated anymore.
Agree. Firing squads.

Sure he is.

There's more loyalty to the constitution in that dude's dump he took this morning than all the Baidens and Milleys of your world combined.

Depends on whether or not the ones hurt were the actual ones doing the physical protesting. Those there who are just protesting verbally the lawful way could be accidentally hurt. But, if it is the ones who are illegally attacking ICE/law enforcement then yes, they earned it.
I was of course referring to those physically protesting - meaning rioting once it's physical.

Something told me Musk-Trump relationship could easily go to hell in a hurry.

Both gentleman's egos way too big. My respect for each is off the charts, by the way.

That’ the way I see/saw it as well.

Bigger issue imho is that men of genuine substance can’t stand shoulder to shoulder while disagreeing publicly; ironically it was trump of the two who took the high road and didn’t respond childishly

Because, even though the population is increasing, the volume of deaths from the boomers will outpace it. The average age of the population will decrease and therefore, it will dramatically decrease the number of people that are drawing Medicare and Social Security, which are the two largest items in the government's yearly spending. IOW - the outlay for those programs will "automatically" lower themselves, without external correction. I couldn't tell you offhand, the duration of the trough that follows the wave but it will happen, and I think that will present an opportunity start re-working future entitlements.

(the entitlements wont' be "removed" but the total cost will go down)

In a way, it's really nothing more than.... A MATH PROBLEM 🤣 🤣 🤣

Call me whatever you want. I just know that what you want (and I would love to have) isn’t possible. And it won’t be possible w/out a completely new Congress that has the same vision as you, and those types of folks aren’t the ones running for Congress.

Our govt is broken and corrupt as all get out. I don’t like it, but I also realize that’s the system that is in place, so I alter my expectations on what can get done based on that knowledge. You can be as angry as you want and call everyone names or insult their intelligence, but at the end of the day there’s zero chance of Congress making giant cuts into our deficit or significantly lowering spending.
This is absolutely true. Most of Congress (with some exceptions) answer to their donors, lobbyists, and they could care less about answering to the American people and the ticking time bomb of national debt that is unsustainable and essentially a fiscal crisis. The BABY-BOOMER Uniparty establishment has ****ed over younger Americans with their free trade deals that have decimated the American industrial base, destroyed any chance of younger Americans of affording a home, debt crisis, etc , and it’s going to be up my generation (X) and the younger ones to fix it. TS.

1.) Suspend congressional salaries until the budget is balanced
2) Term limits

It’s a pipe dream and won’t happen anytime soon but a good start towards a solution, as well as many of these Baby-Boomer politicians dying off and going away permanently.

All of that is assuming that an unfortunate miracle cure, that artificially increases the lifespan of the boomers doesn't happen. That would throw a spanner in the works. LOL

Understand the intent of your post and agree somewhat but as a boomer who has been paying into SS & Medicare since I was 15, I will never receive the benefits equal to what I’ve contributed. Doesn’t matter how long I live - within reason.

Problem is that there are a significant # of people pulling from those entitlements who’ve contributed little or nothing.

OK, legal dispossession.

Entitlement Bubble?

Entitlement Bubble?

I fell into the old trap of using the government's terminology, because they're NOT of course, entitlements for most people, because we have paid into them for most of our lives.

The bubble is only referring to the wave that the baby explosion created. A larger than average number of people compressed into one generation.

I am one of those boomers so, math will be short lived for me from this point on according to info in bold.
The Big Lebowski Thank You GIF

Of course, none of this would be a PROBLEM, if the government hadn't completely crapped the bed, by borrowing against the massive amounts of money that "boomers" (including me) were paying IN, during their most productive working years. 😡😡😡

warrior, I'm also a boomer.

Lemme rephrase, because I've come across as anti-boomer, and that wasn't my intent. My point is basically this. We get the economy going full-steam, and we don't have to make cuts to social security and medicare, because as WE (you, me, and the rest of the boomers) start to pass away, those programs will see "automatic" reductions. Which will present a more opportune time to start taking big bites out of the debt.

Clearly, I'm not an economist, but this seems intuitive to me. It's just a shame, that those dick heads in DC have put us IN this position.

Just read some comments from Coco Gauff who won the women's title at the French Open yesterday. Stated that she's very patriotic and proud to be an American - love it. However, she went on to say she's proud to 'represent Americans who look like me and support the things that I support'. So, she's patriotic and proud to be an American but only those who look like her (black) and support the things she supports? If a white American male won the French Open (I know, fat chance) and said he was patriotic and proud to represent Americans who look like him and support the same things he does, he'd be crucified in the media for being a racist and, most likely, a crazy conservative. But, Coco can say she's proud to represent black Americans and those who support what she supports and crickets from the media. The double standard in what passes for journalism today is astounding. I was pulling for her to win yesterday and I'm white and, presumably, not 100% in line with her politics, so she doesn't feel proud to represent me as an American fan of hers? Probably won't pull for her ever again if that's the way she feels.

Hey ya Mug.... You're a Boomer, He's a Boomer, I'm a Boomer nearing "When I'm 64...Beatles.) But I AM nearing 64, less than a month... 64... 😆

Is Newsom really this dumb? He's supposed to be Wonder Boy and be a leading candidate for President at some point but he continually comes across as a dumb ass. His reactions to the LA fires, SF falling apart, CA budget shortfall and now these riots are comical. He just sounds like a complete clown. He's got the pretty face and all the approved physical mannerisms but the words he speaks are, more often than not, nonsense. Just complete BS and downright idiotic. He's a threat to win the Presidency? God help us all.

I'm 62 with no priors. If I had the chance, I'm pretty sure I would do a short stint and fines to punch Olbermann in the face.

that's not a joke. and if i had enough notice, I'd train, just to get my money's worth. maybe pick up a roll of quarters on the way. (gotta ditch those pronto though, that would escalate the charges)
Just don't hit those goofy looking caterpillars on his forehead posing as eyebrows. They might be an endangered species.

Yeah,

I think when DOGE, who now has access, removes nearly all the 150 years old's and 200 years old recipients from the cash payroll things may actually become "solvent" for the people under 110 or so... BUT, there's nothing to see there.....
