So, some of these on the left (probably most) would rather have a system where accountability is nonexistent, or the use of a scapegoat being the go-to fix therefore making punishment for corruption basically nonexistent (scapegoat being protected anyway) rather than fixing problems and making things better.

These firms are increasingly powerful. They caused enormous shifts in affordability of the housing market and are now running close to 1/2 of the health care industry. Often they buy companies, borrow against assets, increase margins, and then resell the company.
In healthcare this looks like all the practices in town now being corporate looking places where you get 15 minutes and not a second more with the physician in 6 months when they finally have an opening. Then you get billed for the absolute most they could possibly bill you for, then you end up getting rescheduled at every possible time they can get another payment from whoever is insuring you or paying for your healthcare. This is often the US government (some of that fraud you all keep talking about).
Why does no one care? Because these people are heavily involved in financing political campaigns and are beginning to work their way into actual government positions (Scott Bessent notably is the first Treasury Secretary from a hedge fund background).
These people make up the vast majority of the richest people in America list and they are creating nothing. They’re just buying up American companies and then sucking all the financial rewards away from the non-owner stakeholders like the employees and customers of the businesses. And for this privilege we don’t even make them pay income taxes on their capital gains.
This is literally how the rich get richer, the private equity class is concentrating all the gains from our economy into their little financial packages that do nothing for the average citizen.
