started playing with the 1’s only a few years ago at family get togethers in ky. i think i prefer it now. the game moves much faster.

What's "playing with the 1's" mean exactly? Haven't played rook for years now, but it was my favorite card game back in the 90s when I played with some good folks from Eastern Kentucky, a WW2 Veteran and his wife. Miss those days. It was a good decade

As long as it makes you proud....
I'm just saying that use of the expletive was as ambient back then as it is today. I'm listening to an audio book about JFK. In the 1930s, he actually used the word liberally in letters to friends. Kennedy!

rook decks come with cards 1, 2,3,4 thru 14 (4 each different colors) plus one rook. back in eky when i was a kid my mom and dad and their circle of rook players traditionally played with only cards 5-14 + rook, which was the boss trump card.
when playing with 1s the 1 becomes second highest card, between 14 and rook.

Piastri wins. No excuse for McLaren to keep Lando (who SHOULD have been slapped with a 5 second penalty for crossing the line coming out of the pits) as the 1.

RedBull SHOULD have given that place back on the first lap. If they had, Max probably wins.

No way will Trump ever send US citizen criminals to a facility out of country. I think we all want to get rid of those kinds of people, yet the left is absolutely going bat shit crazy about it. They are really ate up!
maybe ... we should say, okay ... but we don't have enough facilities to house these animals ... so let the executions begin... see what the lefties do then...

😂 if only

When I was kid (not sure when they quit using them) your dry cleaning came in these really thin plastic bags. The bags were covered with safety warnings about not letting kids plays with them/suffocation danger etc.

They were MAD fun to play with BTW, because of their size.

I made a hot air balloon out of one (with an attached candle in a tuna fish can to provide heat/lift.)

Not only in the trump suit but in every suit. The one is the highest card

right. but only one rook, top boss. my explanation was not the easiest to understand
We played the 1's as worth 15 points so 40 points in each suit plus 20 for the rook and 20 for the last trick for 200 points as top bid. We always played the rook as the lowest trump

“We did a report on Texas A&M. We found $1.3 billion in undocumented money between the Qatari regime and Texas A&M. We found 502 research projects. Texas A&M gave ALL of their intellectual property rights to the Qatari regime. 58 projects we flagged that have military dual use purpose, 13 have nuclear research dual use purposes.

Qatar has very good relations with the Iranian revolutionary regime, Hamas, and the Taliban. At Cornell University, we found $2 billion in unreported undocumented funding going from Qatar to Cornell K-12.

We just published a report, hundreds of millions of dollars going to create curriculum across the United States of America for children that removed Jews and Christians from curriculum about the Middle East.”

If you like heavyweight boxing (when it was still good), this is an interesting breakdown on Ali's defense, and how it made his counter-punches SO devastating.

Huge Ali fan. At his prime he out worked everyone. He said, the fight is won or lost in the gym and out on the road, long before I dance under those lights.

If true then kick their ass out of the SEC.

Just a random thought...

Does ANYBODY else remember the long, red toy ping-pong ball guns from the late 70s/early 80s? They were rifle-length and bolt-action with a spring so heavy that no 5-7y/o could cock it w/o help from an adult. Spring so heavy that the bolt lever would eventually just break off and you'd have to set the bolt with your palm or thumb. They'd leave a welt at 15 feet. My GP's were in the Moose Lodge and I'd get one every Christmas, but they all magically disappeared before New Years.

I can find no proof of their existence.
