That Social Security tax repeal is going to be impossible to sell I'm afraid. It would probably move the insolvency D-day closer by a few years.

Gotta believe that more kept income will generate enough more growth to pay for it. I think it will only be partially recovered, probably less than half. But it appears more folks want more income now & to hell with the future of the country. I'd certainly come out way ahead if it happens.

As a SS recipient, I would benefit but understand and agree with your point. My counter would be to raise or eliminate the FICA maximum. When I was employed, was good with it but it would help in keeping the system somewhat solvent imo

The entire program needs to be reformed. Asking middle class wage earners (which is where the SS cap gets you these days) to pay an additional 6.2% of their income to give a Ponzi scheme a few more years of life is crazy.

Thankfully the younger demographic is shifting right.

If you have two wage earners, that was close to $20k paid into the system last year that young people will never see back.

Since my wife is self employed, if you tax effect for the 50% deduction, we paid almost $27k into the social security system last year.

While also saving for retirement because I don’t expect to ever see anything.

How much more is my fair share so others don’t need to see reform?

Expecting my first check next week. Between my wife still working and my pension etc. that check is going to get hammered. I still get irritated about how much taxes we pay, it's utterly ridiculous, BUT in the bigger picture nobody wants to hear a person that has been as fortunate as I've been complain. Don't get me wrong, we're not 'rich' but we're on the very low end of our tax bracket, which kind of sucks so...

If you're going to have a larger income in the future from having to take RMD's at age 73, and you're never going to be in a lower tax bracket & perhaps a higher one, it's a good idea to start taking IRA distributions up to RMD age so they are taxed at a lower bracket & then put the remaining proceeds in a Roth IRA. I've learned the hard way.

When I first moved to Atlanta, I remember that there was a CDC lab quite a ways outside the city. Basically out in farmland. Driving by it, it kind of reminded me of Ft Knox or something. 10-12 foot security fence, building(s) off in the distance. Very high security. Was told, and remember several articles in the paper that the CDC kept EVERY lethal virus/germ know to man there. Reason was that in case there was an outbreak of one of them (some I guess hadn't been seen in humans for a number of years), they would have the virus/germ to do testing, etc for a vaccine.

CDC is based in Atlanta but I wonder if this lab is still there. What was farmland back then is nothing but subdivisions, schools, shopping, and office parks now.

If the judicial system that is supposed to support anti-fraud and "We the people" protection measures did its job, we could be funding SS, investing it properly so it creates a return/growth, and making it untouchable by congress and bureaucrats for those who paid into it, while stopping the need to pay into it by the generations that will never see a dime anyway. The current generation could be investing their own money (7.5-15% of their income each year, not paying tax on it before investing it) so that they have a retirement.

If someone currently 35 yrs old making $30k/yr invested that 7.5% and only generated 6%/yr interest over 32 years, they would have an additional $220k for retirement by age 68. It would be difficult not to double that total with some simple investing strategies along the way.

I'm not arguing that innocents aren't being slaughtered - Muslims/Alawites/Christians/Druze/Jews/Kurds. I am arguing that I don't know, and you don't know, whether this is A) in conjunction with beating back political & armed opposition and is part of sh!t that happens in war/revolution, or whether B) it's a concerted effort to go after Christians in particular and is sanctioned/encouraged by the new regime. My opinion is that it's the former, A). Either way it's bad but only B) is targeting Christians for being such. I take from your post that you believe it's B). Don't know.

I presume you're referring to Ukraine not ending well. It's way better today than when Russia started their unnecessary BS that you've never had any qualms with because Russia was so so threatened. In case you don't know, he traps scammers in India, and reverse connects to the scammer's desktop. There are a few guys on youtube that do this but Scammer Payback is the best. He's got a network of guys that work together, and they've actually been responsible for getting some of the scammer call centers closed.

Anyway, I was just watching a video of his, and he downloaded everything from this scammers computer. All of his emails, some plane tickets, the dude's photo ID, and then low level deleted everything from the scammers computer, and this scammer is FREAKING OUT. Blowing up Paybacks phone (which is a decoy) and telling him he's going to come to America and kill him LOL

This dude provides a valuable service, and it's highly entertaining to watch.

I've seen him hack into the call center CCTV, and he can watch them as he's leading them on (voice changed so they think he's an elderly lady) 🤣
