My parents are near that same age and are just as ignorant (and God knows I love them). It bothers me a lot that they’re so unaware. I’ve come to the conclusion that people of that age have two huge limitations: they grew up on Hunley and Cronkite and it is inconceivable to them that the nightly news (where they still get their news) could be full of lies and liars; and they are of an age where they either saw their parents go through the Depression, or heard their parents relate to them that it was the New Deal (the “government”) that saved them from the Depression. In their mind, “government” is a savior, not the enemy.
I'd throw Crowder in that mix as well. Guy is funny as hell (like Gutfeld).
A lot of folks have to be sweating right now with both Kash and Bongino being at the highest level of the FBI now. Bongino gets to bypass Senate confirmation and will assuredly be a major part of the assassination investigations amongst other things. I have to provide a detailed monthly spreadsheet to my boss that shows what I have done. My boss hates being a micromanager but its a product of a small group of folks who are not doing their jobs and I guess HR said this is a way to put some pressure on these folks to give the ammo needed to fire them. Maybe I should sue my company now. Sure that would go over real well for my career aspirations.....
I'm being totally serious. I have a ton of Republican friends that voted for Trump (Kentucky friends/family). I have a family member that is an elected Republican in KY.
In speaking with them recently they are NOT HAPPY with what he has done so far. The only thing they like so far is his border policy.
They hate the tariffs.
They hate his Canada 51st state, Greenland and Gaza land acquisition threats. Haaaaate.
They think his government spending cuts are ok but hate how F'ing sloppy and disrespectful it is towards the workers. They also think Musk looks like an Ahole billionaire swinging a chainsaw around and laughing as people lose their F'ing jobs.
They hate Trump calling Ukraine a dictatorship and sucking up to the real dictator Putin.
They want money monitored there but in no way support Putin like Trump does. Neither do most members in Congress.
They also think the 5000 dollar check is asinine because that is money we need to balance the budget and it will just create more inflation.

Aside from weeding out undesirables, productivity reports are useful when it comes time for department heads/managers to justify annual budgets etc. It's not always punitive.

You are probably right with a lot of people, but my mom is 97 and conservative ((as is my sister and me). Dad was a WW2 vet, had to quit school in the third grade to work the family farm in the depression and was also conservative. I am 77 and conservative.

Comparing physical meritocracy to this is apples to oranges. It is not remotely possible to be this overrepresented in non physical roles simply on merit. It's not possible. It's straight tribalism just like it's not a coincidence that Indians hire other Indians once they're in positions of leadership/control. Yeah, just totally normal that 2% dictates your banking, your media, your politics, your foreign policy, pharma, etc.
