Im curious too what propped up the auto industry. I waited for prices to come down for years but they never have. They must've all gotten massive ppp money or something. The sales part of the business isn't even high margins at least for new cars.

I looked the board of these Catholics- rather interesting.
From the beginning it's been this group funding and chauffeuring them into the country, going all the way back to just after the 2012 election. Bus after bus onto their properties and then redistributed over state lines. Watched a bunch of videos of them doing this throughout the past 12 years. My conservative catholic friends were in denial about it until I showed them the videos.
It remains to be seen if these treasonous actions will be punished and their property confiscated for doing it. It also tells you this is an international strategy to undermine our entire country. No one wanted to hear it then, and I wonder if it will be heard now.
Human trafficking is what it is- taking unapproved funding from our govt to bring people over the border illegally and then dropping them off in cities without continued support of the criminal enterprise that brought them in, and never vetting anyone, never making sure the children belonged to the adults bringing them in to the point of losing track of them completely. The lots are overfull for domestics, but Honda a Toyota lots are still sparse, which would be my where my money goes.
Found a unicorn in 2022, though. 2017 Accord with the big V6 with 73k on it. Last year that engine was available in the Accord. 278hp is probably too much for the kids but I couldn't turn it down. I love that car and gank it over my truck every time a head is turned.

I have been saying this on here for years. We should pull out of all countries in the world unless they pay us to be there and also send troops to our borders after training them for that type of duty. We would have enough from those who came back to put them on a rotation not dissimilar to overseas deployments making it about a 6-month rotation.

Probably a bit of self-preservation. Do we really need all these sales guys in the floor? How about the other positions like greeters and fluff admin positions? It sure seems like the auto industry did not want to take a hit to their departments or their paychecks. Which, I can't fault them for that.. I'd probably do the same.
There's also the aspect of people not neededing to use traditional dealers.. they can use CarMax and others. So not only can people not afford to buy cars the last few years, but places like CarMax have cut into their numbers.
But yeah, I don't get how they are getting away with charging 6 figures for a pickup truck that was only 65k maybe 4 years ago. Something isn't right there.

On truck prices, I don't quite understand the dynamics of it, but it's something to do with the EPA and their formula for size:horsepower/fuel consumption. Only way to get a big V8 in any truck is to buy the biggest truck, which necessitates the engine, which drives the cost up, creating headroom for everything else under it to increase in price. Almost all mid-sized trucks are now relegated to a 4banger with a turbo and NO THANK YOU. However, their prices keep increasing as they become less desired or useful. I'm assuming there is an EPA charge to break the threshold, which, drives the prices up.
Nissan has a V6 and they consider the Jeep Gladiator to be mid-sized and so it gets a 6cyl diesel. That's about it besides the Raptor Ranger... for $55k
Also, unless you get a premium Off-Road model anything, you aren't going to find a manual transmission available in nearly ANY truck. I don't even think you can get a manual in a super duty anymore. I think the Tacoma TRD OR is the only one I know of currently. Nobody needs/wants a turbo 4-banger strangled by a 8/10-speed auto. Those two things equate to planned obsolescence, inmy mind. The manual trans is the single most reliable mechanical system in a truck's drivetrain, and they've 86'd it. Why?

Yeah, my wife (who has the newest model we have) has a 2017 Nissan Rogue while I drive a 2006 Kia Sportage (my hoopty) and a 2007 Ford F150 (hauling and fishing) wants a new one first because she is still working and will be for another 15 or so years. If/when we buy new, she will get the first and her Nissan will become my daughters so...I am out for a while on a new one. I am however looking out about 2 1/2 years (I will be 70) into the future to buy unless really good deals come along. That way, it should be my last as I figure I won't be around (chances are) for another 20 years.

Same here. I bought a new Tacoma in 05 and it's still my daily driver. 3 kids and a wife has me at the end of the waiting list.
However, I cannot replace what I have (4x4 V6) with nearly anything available that I'm willing to pay for, so I have no desire to do so. My truck is a tank.
I am literally considering buying a 70s/80s/90s rebuilt/restored truck just to get what I want, provided the laws don't change in the next 5 years or so and I CAN find what I want.
