I remember a few years back an economist (can't remember his name) predicted we would continue to grow the debt to the point of not being able to pay it off and then default on the debt because no one could make us pay it back. It is quite possible that most of our politicians see it this way and or just don't care. If our economy falls and the dollar collapses, I don't think the rich or our politicians will suffer because they have a backup plan for themselves.
Cubans i met are very similar. They love America more than most Americans. I was at a facility with one guy and he saw some paper on the ground. He picked it up to carry it until he saw a trash can. He said he can't leave litter on the ground in the greatest country in the world.
That goes back to the broader point of legal immigration. The vast majority of legal immigrants are wonderful additions to this country. Hard working, assimilate, and literally willing to fight for the country if they can. Theyre literally some of the best people i ever met.
We need a system that prevents people from skipping line and coming here without these qualities. Otherwise all their hard work and willingness to assimilate and produce gets diluted and they get thrown in with the whole lot.
Trump had to deal w/ Obama's mess, George Floyd and covid in his first term, and now he has to fix Biden's mess, Ukraine, and forthcoming billions of dollars of assistance to Cali.
One thing is clear about the Facebook firing of their "fact checkers" is the danger is still there. I know for s fact the operation is just getting reorganized and these people are going to spam the community notes in an attempt to bias the process. One person i know well is already bragging how theyre getting paid to do just that.
So unless Facebook takes notes from X on how to keep it neutral, it will be more of the same.
As an aside, its shocking how many paid trolls there are. This person is paid to not just "correct misinformation" on social media, but also in the comments section of news stories, etc etc. There are literally armies of these people and no interaction is too small. Thats why you can bank at least one or two posters in here are getting paid for interactions.

I knew quite a few who came here and joined the army to get their citizenship and almost all I knew loved this country. Only one I had work for me was more for himself and his attitude reflected it. He was from Barbados and did not want to go fight in Iraq when Kuwait was invaded. He joined the army to get money (enlistment bonus) for college and did not feel it was his duty to fight for the US. He had just joined the unit about a month before I got there and was given to me because, every section in our unit (8 howitzer artillery unit and there were only 7 filled at the time) was told to give me one man so we could start building the 8th 10-man section.
When I got there, I was given a derelict howitzer that had been cannibalized to bring the others up to 10-20 standards so, I had a lot of work to do. What made it harder was that every chief of section gave me their worst soldiers (can't blame them) so I had some hard cases to work with. Three of the soldiers professed to be of the Islamic faith and could not fight against their Muslim brothers. Not a good start so, I made it clear to them and the guy from Barbados to either get in line or, I would do whatever was necessary to see that they would go to jail as they had sworn an oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States and would be in breach of contract. Needless to say, they went, but under protest.
We all fall into that trap from time to time. Welcome home...

We will switch monetary standards just like the last two times we faced a debt crisis. All evidence points to the digital dollar. I'm just interested in how they divvy things up. What will one DD be worth? 10 cents on the dollar? Less? Will people accept that?
The problem with isolationism is that we are not one people anymore. We might have no fear of a foreign military, but I am afraid we would kill each other off if left to our own devices. Balkanization is the most likely scenario if things go tits up.

Listened to a bit of Glen Beck this morning. He said he was told that border patrol in AZ caught a shoulder fired rocket at the border this week. Supposedly one set of rockets got through and they arrested the smugglers on a second run. With the girl on Shawn Ryan podcast saying that there are dozens of terrorist cells in our country it sure does seem like something really bad is about to happen.

Its about China. China has control of most of Panama Canal. They have multiple bases in South America. Canada/Trudeau has tons of Chinese immigrants and certain cities are being ran as Chinese only areas. They do their own policing and don't allow Canadians in. Trump is just making it clear China can't just surround us with problems to deal with while they do whatever they have planned to Taiwan, Korea and Japan.
