I love that DC people think Musk is making us believe stuff and whipping us into a frenzy... everyone I know was freaking out at what was in that bill. I saw Liz Wheeler and Glen Beck talk about a few things that morning before everyone else started piling on with other stuff. It's not like it was just 1 or 2 things that made that bill a stinker.

Judging by the lack of likes on my post, a good number either work there or are related to someone that does.
I know people that are or were employed by the govt. Most would tell you how bad it is privately, but most of the ones I know work/worked their assets off every day. They're just those kind of people, and for quite a few, being among the only ones in their area of govt working their assets off is what made them work their way up and/or retire sooner (asap actually). From teachers to medical industry professionals. From police and fire to admin and engineers.
No one wants to be that one guy that knows how to and does their job well in a dept full of people that don't know, don't care or care to know how, and just won't work. They're usually scapegoated and hated by the rest, if they can't move up. There are too many supervisors and management that have been promoted to make the deot they left run better.
Trolls don't have to be smart. They just have to get people to respond to them. Again and again. Day after day. They'll spout nonsense and hyperbole. Outright lies. Whatever it takes to get others to give them attention and waste time, energy, and even emotion responding to them.
