I won’t bore with details, but to sum up conversations with my dad go:

Dad says something.
I challenge or ask a question.
Dad refuses to answer or goes into diatribe.

So my approach has now been to find things that I somewhat understand or agree with and start the conversation down a path where there’s common ground. Once I do this, we can talk more about differences.

When I post here, I’d like to extend the conversation so that it isn’t so open/shut, like most of the post I see. If I feel like I’m sucking too much air from the room, I’ll go back to lurking.

Well, provided you're genuinely actually interested in having productive dialogue with him, give me an example and I'll tell you where your/his error is.

"Spent 3k on X, 2k on Y, and 3k on Z this week. I can't keep doing this" -Dad (Dad is renovating house).
"Yeah, its tough. Everything is expensive" -me
"I cannot wait for Trump to get into office so things get cheaper." -Dad
"Me too, but what exactly is he going to do to help?" -me
"He's not going to let companies take care of Americans." -Dad
"But how?" -Me
"Don't be a smartass. I don't know, but we didn't have this problem when he was in office." -Dad

Last phone conversation went something like this that mentioned politics.

I was thinking for the ones (most probably) who are now preparing for the inevitable (deportation threat) to move to the sanctuary cities and places where the governors are saying they will not allow that to happen before Trump gets into office. I welcome it actually. I hope these states and municipalities get what they are asking for. It will completely overwhelm them and destroy their strongholds.

Do us a favor and open your doors to a few of them and show us how good it works for you.
You first.

Correct, but francophone Africa still uses it. There’s a video by TLDR that explains it with better detail about the Sahel region and why switching from the franc upsets France that I can post.
The Fr franc has no value, but apparently these places don't know it. France won't exchange euros for 20 years+ old francs. No other place would either.

You should learn to have such conversations without being offensive.

THis is part of our cultural problem of "not discussing religion or politics" in polite company. I haven't read your posts, and likely won't, but what I have from people posting like you, say someone like Nightwish or DreadLox, are so remarkably obtuse and unjustifiably arrogant that they strain credulity. If you bring that type of attitude to someone older with demonstrated competence, it's likely you'll frustrate them by your ignorance.

But one should never get upset by politics, i.e. opinions. Tha's dumb. People are tribal and have political beliefs for a host of irrrational reasons. Tha'ts just as dumb.
The MAGA folks that take offense at anything they perceive to be less than 100% MAGA are a much bigger issue here than he is.

if your economy is dependent on illegal non citizens then you’re commiting crime

Jmo but deportation wont cause the price of goods to go up at least not by much. 1) other than small construction and small farming, barely anyone employees illegals.

The real consumer cost pressure is going to be the game of chicken with tariffs. Thats because outsourcing is where companies really spread their margins. However even that wont impact consumer prices too much, because marketplace competition.

So where will companies make up the difference? It will have to be cutting insane ceo pay. Or by saving on the fortune they spend on specialists to navigate administrative boondoggles.

The left are constantly screaming tax the rich, especially ceos and companies. So this will achieve that goal. I assume theyre happy?

Understand where you're going but it doesn't work like you are depicting. Wish I felt like typing but getting ready to call it. I just made a request for unallocated funds for FY25, called a UFR. Only a few hundred k. I know how this works intricately.
An unfunded request? Very familiar with them.

Why do you think there was such a huge red wave and why do you think the American people elected Trump - a man I’m sure you think is a fascists dictator nazi?

Basically, why do you think the Dems lost to a man your side calls Hitler?

I don't think it is fair to assume all democrats fit the mold of the soundbytes you see.

Incumbents lost everywhere this past election cycle because of inflation. I think most people think that republicans do a better job at controlling inflation and so this with the backlash of incumbency is why he won.

I will be consider the second trump term a success if he is able to:

Reduce government spending
Reduce inflation
Reduce the number of people that live in poverty
Prevent the increase in global conflicts (if possible)

What I really want to see avoided is the culture war nonsense. I don't care anything about those issues at all. I work in a school district (home with a sick kid today) where 60% of the students are free or reduced. The most important thing for me is seeing this population have a higher quality of life.

Abortion, illegal invasion, million$ of illegal drugs into the country, child trafficking, child mutilation, sanctuary cities, economic peril, high risk of war...........just a few things to congratulate this administration for.

The drug thing is the one that pisses me off the most. I cannot believe our society allows 100K people to die each year from Chinese and Mexican poison. To me, that's war level shit.

Regarding free or reduced lunch, I'm all for abolishing the Department of Education and allotting some of those billions to providing all kids with a free or much cheaper school lunch, but it also has to be much healthier and preferably in coordination with local or regional food sources. Stop subsidizing ungodly amounts of corn and turn some of that land over to grow other various crops.

Just my 2 cents.

Well how else is the CIA going to generate off book cash to fund coups if we go to war against their suppliers?

This is why the fake COVID concern should've been obvious.

Democrats haven't given a single shit to stop the flooding of our nation with fentanyl and heroine. They will step over the homeless and the people who have overdosed in the streets without a second thought yet we had people believe the government cared if you got the sniffles? GTFOH. 😂

You ever see a Democrat discuss the victims of illegals? Nope. They have never cared one iota about the people being raped and murdered by them but the Democrats are very quick to say they will stand up to fight any removal of illegals (while they also fund them and house them). These are the same people who wanted you fired, lose custody of your kids, and put in camps for not getting a Pfizer jab.

I understand that cutting the DoE is an idea that has a lot of support, but the thing that I will counter that with is the role it plays special needs students. All public schools receive special education funding through the DoE. I worry that anything that disrupts that ecosystem will harm the most vulnerable populations.

And to add, I think it was the kentucky state and house has created a program that provides free lunches to all students regardless of income to title 1 schools this school year. Kudos to whoever is responsible for that.

Figured. Lazy answer (inflation).

It’s easy for you to say you don’t care about the culture war nonsense. Fact is, your side has taken a wrecking ball to our societal norms with your culture war nonsense…..and now you say you don’t care about it when you get voter pushback.

Of course you care about. You just don’t like the pendulum swinging away from it and now that it’s clear it’s hurting your sides election chances, you want to pretend like it’s no big deal.

You want honest discussion? I promise you a huge part of Trumps election was retaliation for that culture war wrecking ball. Ignore it at your own peril and watch how that plays out for the Dems in the future. If you so called moderates don’t get control of the extremists running your party, you’ll have a long row to hoe.

BTW, We all want people to rise out of poverty (conservatives just have better ideas on how to do it).

But, You do sound just like every single other so called moderate to ever come in here. And as soon as we start “reducing government spending”, it’s people like you who will be the first to scream we are killing grandma and starving the children.

I’ve said it thousand times; if we truly had as many “fiscally conservative” Dem voters as y’all like to claim, we wouldn’t be in the financial mess we are in and DC would’ve been burnt to the ground decades ago.

Guess what? Fiscal conservatism is dead, buried, and decomposed. Meanwhile our society is in a fight for its life thanks to your sides lunatics.

Maybe start thinking about that socially liberal side you’re on since the fiscal conservatism war is already lost.

The culture was is now at the forefront. Right at our doorstep. You can claim not to care about it, but I have a feeling as soon as we start pushing back, you’ll be screaming like a banshee.

D'Souza's documentary 'Vindicating Trump' is available on youtube. If you go to about the 1 hr 6:30 mark, you can get to how our entire voting system is opened up for fraud.

- Minnesota has a voter registration method of 'vouching.' All you need is a registered voter to say 'Yeah, he lives there' and that person can vote on Election Day.

- You can purchase the ballots- buy the ballots directly from the shop. Go to any printing company and just print them out. You can even order these online. "How do you get the info on the ballot?' Most of the time, your area will have the sampe ballot or you can request an absentee ballot and you can copy that. The guy in the doc purchased 10K ballots and had it verified they would work.

- You can get the voter rolls (and see who hasn't voted the last few elections-aka inactive) for free or a low cost. Minnesota's was $42
- Homeless people who have been registered by their social worker-- using shelters as the address---nursing home patients who have died but have not been removed, college kids who graduated and moved away, etc.

There's so much. Democrats are all about fraud and you have to wonder just how many elections they have actually lost but have cheated with the bogus ballots.

The rest of the tweet:
So...it looks like Mexico is planning to be extra helpful on the border. . . and the Sinaloa Cartel is killing fentanyl makers just to stay off of Trump's bad side. Was that so hard?

Follow up from my post yesterday, more China shenanigans,

Weakness invites aggression. Appeasement accelerates it. There is absolute clarity what the People’s Republic of China is doing. There is also absolute clarity that no one on the international stage has the will or the ability to do anything about it.”

England is such a tyrannical country. I would never go back to this country as these psychos would probably put me in prison for memes considering that's what they do to their own citizens.

Tommy Robinson is in prison for 18 months right now. Unreal.

I considered myself a Libertarian for about a decade. My roommate was president of the KY college Republicans chapter and I frequently went and hung out with these guys. Hell, I walked the entire distance of Irvine twice for Andy Barr giving out flyers and stickers in the Mountain Mushroom Festival. I also have an Andy Barr shirt that he personally gave me for spending an afternoon making phone calls for him in 2012.

There are liberals that get their panties in a wad for cultural war nonsense, but nobody I know really cares (that libertarian mindset live and let live). We saw Democratic ideas win bigly in very red states. Missouri raised minimum wage. Missouri passed abortion rights. Florida narily failed a measure on abortion. So I don't think the wrecking ball was as devastating as you are saying.

I will not post anything about grandmas and babies dying if the government spending truly helps alleviate the stress caused by the national debt and any other factors that contribute to stressors in people's life. I will complain if the neoliberal policies enacted enrich the top .1% while making life more difficult for everyone else. But let's wait and see before we have these conversations.

I switched parties when fiscal conservatism. I'll consider crossing sides again when this because a chief issue.

So you’re good with banning kiddy porn books in school, getting drag queen happy hour out of schools, arresting pride parade participants for indecent exposure, banning transgenders from military, banning transgenders from playing in sports and using wrong bathroom, banning late term abortion, deporting illegals, firing teachers who promote the alphabet mafia, arresting parents and doctors who mutilate children, and so on?

Or maybe you aren’t “good” with it per se, but you won’t care if we enact those laws and policies, right?

Again, ignore the role your sides culture war played in this election at your own peril.

I've seen the books being banned. The more extreme examples are certainly not in schools. You see where Florida is set to ban the Outsiders? Crazy greasers with their tranny ideas.

The subsequent things that you mentioned are certainly not happening in central KY where I live. I'm not going to lose my mind on boogeyman type ideas.

I don't think either side has the right to point fingers when it comes to government spending. Both sides spend WAY too much, just on different things. Neither side has, up until now, shown any restraint or any notion of actually cutting spending - none. At times, they brag about cutting the GROWTH of spending like that's a true cut. Our interest payments on the government debt now exceed $1T per year. Adding $1+T every year to the national debt is only making a huge, critical problem worse. I applaud Trump/Mush/Vivek initiative to form the DOGE. I hope, for every Americans' sake, they are successful at truly cutting spending in a big way. There is so much waste and redundancy and red tape and, I believe, fraud/corruption when you're talking about a $6T budget that has to be reined in. When the interest on the debt is > DoD budget, we have a problem. Very soon, interest + SS + Medicare/caid > tax receipts. Then what?
