I saw somewhere that, since 1900, only three cabinet level appointments have been made by recess appointment. The last was Clinton appointing Mickey Cantor as Sec of Commerce after Ron Brown had died in a plane crash. The Senate was out of session when the plane crash happened so Clinton appointed Cantor to take that position immediately.

It would be terrible precedent for Trump to get Gaetz into the AG role this way. It will only lead to the Dems doing the same type of thing the next time around. The Republicans have control of the Senate, why can't he nominate someone who will get confirmed? Maybe Gaetz can get confirmed - let it go forward that way with a public hearing .

How ironic that the same ones screaming bloody murder about government control because of being asked to wear a mask during the "plandemic" are perfectly ok with a President taking over every government agency in America, placing yes men in charge of those agencies, and suggesting the creation of a tribunal to have complete control over the military generals.
This is exactly how democracy dies.
in other words, Sam says GOVERN ME HARDER ESTABLISHED DEEP STATE POLITICIANS!!!

Joe Biden was the “return to normalcy” candidate. With a Senate confirmed AG who weaponized the Justice system against their political opponents.

Trump is the MAGA candidate. He’s not there to get back to the Washington “norms” but set new precedent.

Now is not the time to take the high road. Trump did that his first term. Then they framed him for treason and tried to bankrupt and imprison him.

First, one would have to look at the details of the program, you dunce.

Second, most of us would probably prefer the federal government have no control over local school lunches.

Third, small portions of highly processed inedible foods are not “healthy” lunches.
If we would stop subsidizing insane amounts of corn and let farmers actually grow varieties of crops and livestock for meats organically, there are enough farmers and local food producers out there to supply the school systems in their regions with quality food. Think if all of the small businesses producing food with the "Kentucky Proud" labels were contracted to provide school systems with their products. do away with the Federal DOE and redirect a good portion of those funds toward an initiative like that.

Ok. Sounds like you want to laugh and crow for the next 2 years until the inevitable Dem victories in the midterms and then 2 years later a Dem candidate wins the presidency.

Gaetz has his own demons, but he also strikes fear in the entire DOJ, and the left doesn't want him anywhere close for fear of him turning the entire dept upside down....who knows what he will find.

I have no faith that big talking republicans, who never got results, then went on to be a foxnews contributor, are anything other than useless establishment cucks.

Gaetz just needs to operate in the background. Which he may be unwilling to do as he’s trying for his next career move. But we can hope republicans won’t be dragging him in front of committees.

I thought gowdy was extremely effective in those hearings. He was obviously a skilled cross examination guy from his days as an ausa. One of the most skilled I saw which means he is a sharp prosecutor. Cross is usually the weakest skill for a prosecutor since they spend most of their time on direct.

One member of Congress can't do much on their own.

The house is currently 219 to 212.

There are four elections that are undecided and Republicans have the lead and three of them.

One problem is the terrible rank choice voting in Alaska may may go to the Democrat. It's unreal. If someone that loses by almost four points in the general election can win the election based on second and third place votes.

So 221 to 222 is the most likely count. California has a lot of mail ballots which favor you guessed it.

What Casey's doing in in Pennsylvania should be screamed to the general public so they understand that Democrats want illegals to decide who their political leaders are. This is not unlike Minnesota some years back except Casey's way back.

Garland allowed the prosecution and conviction of the President's own son. How much more impartial can he get?? Garland has been anything but horrible. Gaetz the freak would be horrible. Just ask his fellow Republicans that hate him.
Seriously? Let's revisit this, shall we?

Hunter Biden gets assigned a friendly special prosecutor, one who was former US attorney for Delaware, and well known to the Biden family. His appointment raised eyebrows in the legal community, but oh well.

This prosecutor slow-walked the case against Hunter in order to allow the most severe charge fall away due to statute of limitations expiry. This same prosecutor then arranged for a sweetheart plea deal that would have kept Hunter out of prison with a slap on the wrist. Thankfully this plea deal was blown up by a judge with a conscience.

It was only after all this that any real prosecution of Hunter was set in motion. This prosecution only occurred when all other recources by the Biden DOJ failed. Furthermore, if you recall, any negative development pertaining to Hunter was overshadowed by lawfare developments against Trump.

You are completely wrong about Garland. I thought Eric Holder was terrible, but Garland is even worse.

For the record, I am against Gaetz as AG. I'm fine with all of other Trump's nominations so far.

Well said. The Democrats are like wolves probing the edges of the light from the campfire. Always thinking of ways to get closer and closer.

You know, in a normal environment I’d completely agree with you.

We are in a period where the Democrats used the government to spy on their rival, create hoaxes about him, and try to imprison him.

Not even touching on what they tried to do to Kavanaugh.

It would have been nice to consider the repercussions of these actions way back then.

I’m sure the Dems will have returned to not weaponizing government by then, right?
But the Democrats just lost power because of how they governed. Why should Trump govern in a similar manner just to "stick it to them" and the Republicans lose power in a couple of years? Again, my comments have only to do with the idea of using a recess appointment just so Gaetz doesn't have to get confirmed by a Republican majority in the Senate.

Don’t think you realize what Trump ran on. Not only that what he won on including both houses and the popular vote. Business as usual is over.

So Clinton won in 92 without a majority (benefitting from Perot taking votes from Bush) but proceeded to try to govern like he had won in a landslide - remember the socialized medicine effort that Hillary was running, complete with national health ID cards? The result was the 94 so-called Republican Revolution midterms. My prediction is a similar thing will happen in 2 years.

What? You just made all of this up bc you're told to be mad. But yes, democrats proposed to a secondary cabinet for no reason yesterday. Speaking of yes men...what was merrick garland in your opinion?

Here's an even better solution in my opinion tho:

You'd cry if this happened to tho

Possibly but that was over 30yrs ago. Politics is a much diff game now. The Dems still haven’t figured out why they even lost yet. It sure wasnt racism and misogyny but they can keep doubling down on that if they’d like.

If and it’s a big IF the Trump admin can accomplish what they’re trying to do, the midterms will take care of themselves imo.

Ex-FIL years ago was the regional director (for lack of the proper term) of the Labor Dept for the Southeast. I remember him telling me about how they would (have to) throw out brand new furniture bought the year before....and buy all new. That and other wasteful things at the behest of D.C. That if they didn't 'spend the money' they...the Labor Dept....might get their budget cut for the coming year.
He said it happened every year.
I worked at a gov owned plant for 11 years. It was run by private enterprise on a cost plus basis. The more they spent, the more profit they made. They wanted to spend every penny in their budget for the same reason you talked about.

I don’t want to laugh and crow at all. Trump has a once in a (my) lifetime opportunity to root out corruption and reshape the federal government. Losing the midterms is a given as that is going to take some short term pain.

He’s got two years.

He doesn’t need some dipshit AG that’s going to cede power to an “independent counsel” that’s going to help frame him for treason. He needs someone who’s going to bring the hammer of Justice and help get the results Trump was elected to get.

Putting in a uniparty acceptable AG to hamstring him in hopes they’ll win the midterms will lose him the midterms anyway.

In case your haven’t noticed, the establishment Republicans hate Trump just as bad as the TDS infected democrats do.

The American people have spoken. We want Trump and his people in place. We don’t care if Trump has to do an end around because the Republican establishment refuse to do what its constituents demand.

So do nothing about the obvious corruption in the federal bureaucracy? That’s what you’re saying?

Did any of those hearings result in anything?

House races on a knife's edge:

AK-1: This is likely a GOP win when you look at the numbers. The Alaska Independence Party candidate won about 4% of the vote, and they trend right, and some no name democrat got 1% or less.

CA-13: GOP candidate's lead keeps shrinking as more votes are counted. Very tight race.

CA-45: Even closer, GOP candidate leads by a few hundred votes, but this is likely to go democrat.

IA-1: Extremely close, but the GOP candidate has maintained a lead, and very few votes remain to be counted. Likely GOP win.

ME-2: Democrat leads by about 700 votes with relatively few left to count. Likely democrat win.

The other remaining fairly close races all show the democrat with a slight, but more comfortable lead, so those are unlikely to change, especially as they're all in California.

The official entropy13 House forecast is 220 GOP, 215 democrat for the House. If CA-13 holds, then make it 221-214. The fact that the GOP maintained control at all is an achievement.

As for the PA Senate race, Casey's antics should be labeled for what they are: election denialism and dirty tricks.

Sir,

You are exactly correct. No federal and probably state agency "leaves" funds not spent. It is a HUGE deal to any agency leadership IF every dollar is not spent in the appropriated budget. Want to feel tight shorts working for the government? Do not spend all allocated funds. You will NOT like the outcome BUT, the funds are always spent. THEN most agencies start UFR's (Unfunded Requirement) to appropriate MORE funds. Happens EVERY FY (Fiscal Year). No agency budget EVER goes down. It is nefarious and against everything American.
