Ohio governor just said he’s certainly looking at shutting down bars and restaurants.

That will be fun! It’s gonna happen eventually, and boy it won’t be pretty.

Because the state now knows what's better for me than I do. This entire situation is opening alot of doors that won't be closed like 9/11 and the Patriot act.

I’m sure the media will continue to feed this panic until the worst possible end. It’s their agenda now since everything else they’ve tried has failed.

Absolutely. Their clicks and views must be through the roof. Plus their pals in the DNC and China are loving the financial devastation

So you can understand:

I know man, I'm not worried for myself nor particularly worried about this virus and know that other people are running about like nothing has happened, but if you do that then you are part of the propagation of the virus by chance.

all I did and will do is things like stop going to the gym, things which I don't necessarily need to do but greatly increase my own personal chances if becoming part of the problem.

also, maybe I shouldn't have said 100% agreement with AOC... it's possible, maybe even probable, that she wants a recession and people not going to F&B in NYC, which is the best damn food and bar scene in the world, just does that much more to accelerate economic decline.

You people are part of the problem, not the solution.

But I'll throw you a bone here... for once, I agree with AOC 100% and 100% disagree with the sentiments of Katie, which may be prevalent around you in KY or on the Catpaw or whatever.

The same aoc who just two days ago was scolding everybody for being racists if they weren’t going out to eat at chinese restaurants.

First off alot of items come China. Maybe not the food itself but containers and items used in shipping. All that is disrupted already.
Show me which foods in USA come from China, what % of the total that it is, and that their supply has been disrupted. W/o that info, I'll continue to believe it's small to very small.

Good post until you started looking through that political prism and disparaging people based on nothing but bias.

Here's an unexpected side effect from WuFlu that one would not necessarily anticipate- the homeless in Cincinnati downtown are increasingly aggressive and obnoxious. It's not directly because of the Corona, but it's because there is considerably less pedestrian traffic because of the panic, and hence fewer monetary targets- as such, the parasites are becoming increasingly desperate and ruder than ever when they see someone walking in their direction. In the last two days alone, I have noticed this. Some stupid idiot tried to start a fight with me last night when I politely declined to give him a cigarette. I probably just have gotten into it with that fool, either that, or just fake cough to run him off, but that one probably doesn't even know enough to run off after that lol.

Was parking my car in OTR on the street for dinner last night and a homeless guy knocked on my window and asked for change. Sorry buddy. It’s 2020 and I no longer have coins.

Due to actual or feared illness, many workplaces will be forced to either shut down or send sick people home. This is already happening. Without that human capital, production stops or at least slows.
How physically close together do you think people that pick bananas & pack them? Same for vegetables from CA. What about slaughter houses? Dairy farms? I say not close at all.

@blubo

exactly... can't trust these hypocrits alwasy speaking out of both sides of their mouths.

maybe we could kill the toxic stupidity that is the racialization of everything and just come out say "hey Wu in Wuhan, how about you stop eating bats and do the rest of the world a favor?"

but that would be racist so we can't... dude, it's not like we are talking about the people that built the railroads here.

not political, you people are not to be trusted, demonstrably.

plenty of you have expressed openly your desire for a recession as a means to an end.

you can fool some people sometimes, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

"Us people" are just as American as you and frankly only a blind man or ideologue can't or won't see the threat to this nation today has been made far worse by runaway ego, ignorance, stupidity, and narcissism by the leader of the GOP.

there are lots of threats to this country.

bad ideas, unAmerican ones at that, are probably chief amoung them... you people are sole purveyors and proprietors of that, you are a threat to everyone, including yourselves, unwittingly.

drop the bad ideas and you people can come back to we the poeple

I don't think you, and many others, realize the steps most companies are ready to take based on advice they're getting. If this panic doesn't let up in the next 5 days, we're going to really see some bad fallout.
Food & essential household items production is not going to stop/slow due to this. It's counterproductive to the needs of the people. And I don't think you realize how labor efficient; i.e., how few workers, these products' production chains are. I've worked in both household products & beverages plants as part of my R&D jobs & have seen it in action first hand.

Just who does a truck driver who pulls up to a production dock & takes on a load & then delivers it to a warehouse come in contact with? Two at most & maybe none.

Well the fact remains every one is an improved model of a weapon the Army asked to be developed for their paratroopers in combat. The AR-1 won a contest the Army had to pick the weapon of their choice for combat.
AR-10, designed by Eugene Stoner, Levi. Damn it, if you criticize something, at ensure your data is correct.

You are dismissed.

I didn't say they did. Read my post again.

For the rest of your posts, if you don't understand how the supply chain is impacted then it doesn't surprise me that you don't understand why it can't hold up to this for extended periods

"went to Walmart yesterday
A lot of the junk food was gone"

Plenty of produce and healthy options available though[/QUOTE]
Junk food normally has a longer shelf life. (See Twinkies ingredients)

Trump: "I want to thank Google. Google is helping to develop a website. It is going to be very quickly done, unlike websites of the past, to determine whether a test is warranted and to facilitate testing at a nearby convenient location."

False, while I agree with the general idea here I disagree with people not panicking because it is a deadly disease. Most are panicking for that exact reason because of the media screaming "Orange man allowed this to happen and it is very deadly". There are quite a lot of idiots on the left with a few sprinkled from the right who are buying the hype.

+1

Noticed the same yesterday at two HEB stores here in Austin. Well-stocked produce section, but shortages of junk food, napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.

Average American can't understand why they are overweight and run a high risk of contracting diabetes.

You are absolutely correct. Gotta get the junk food and tp because there’s gonna be diarrhea from that diet.

All I was saying is that if Americans were that worried the produce would be gone too.

How many actually touch the same items eventually during processing and handling? A larger number than you might think.

No matter what happens during this we're all going to come out of this changed from what we were. I hated the media before March 1st. Hate does not even begin to describe what I feel for them now.

The reactions of the average citizen have been extremely disappointing. I'm trying to live normally and when I run out of things I go to the store and nothing's there because some hoarder needed 20 of something. That is largely media induced.

The reaction is the problem. Decisions should be made with a cool calm head. The left and the media have tried to panic society as much as possible. The president has tried to remain very calm. This is criticized by the leftist. The people who support Joe Biden for president.
