Yes, you would think that, but somehow many states continue to shit all over it, inch by inch. The 2nd is already gone in many states, and that's becoming "normal". In a few decades, there won't be enough people/hunters/olds left to give a crap about the 2nd amendment.
Curious as to when the democrats are going to announce they’re hiding Biden. Do they wait all the way until Sunday then cancel the debate after the morning news programs? Friday afternoon?

Would have loved to have been able to close down borders earlier and help things...but we all know how some in this country are with stricter measures when it comes to border security, immigration, people visiting this country from certain areas generally speaking...

I bash Levi as much as anybody, but I think his data was what was reported as of 3 or 4 days ago, it has increased that much that fast. Those numbers are definitely all bullshit in different ways, and countries are all having vastly different responses, so good luck getting more accurate data.

It's not really about profits. It's about survival. For example, if you produce televisions in the USA, you won't make less profit, you will go out of business because you can't sell any at the price you have to charge to make money.
Now maybe the issue can be addressed through tariffs or some other way, but companies are doing what they have to do to compete with other global companies that are producing their product in China, etc. I'm not sure what the answer is, but you are right that we need to be more self sufficient.
All the United States manufacturing industry needs is a level playing field. I do realize the much cheaper wages paid to workers in other countries and that does compute the lesser costs along with other factors but in the larger picture the United States has distinct advantages in shipping and other areas that help combat those costs. Shipping and in many cases protected storage and other logistics and insurance costs along with host country taxing/ confiscation factors are huge factors in expenses. (Not the only expenses but that would take another forum to go in depth.) Give the United States a level playing field and I like our chances in the competitive markets. Note: There are always exceptions such as raw minerals or materials located in an advantageous area or other countries.

The death rate especially doesn't mean anything right now. It's clearly going to look worse in the US last week because we were only counting the most obvious cases. It's like if we only counted case #1 in the movie outbreak where the guy gets off the plane vomiting blood, the death rate won't look so hot.
As we've reported more cases, the death rate has gone down. Do more cases make you feel better or worse about the situation?

Depends on frequency and severity. Lots of US elderly out there are endangered by COVID-19. Zero, of course, is the goal. As a nation, I believe we are engaging in many positive steps to mitigate spread of this thing. Awareness is off the charts. College campuses are closing. Travel has been restricted and curtailed, not only externally, but also internally.
At any rate, my point is Levi''s little chart is not only misleading, but intentionally posted with bad data in an attempt to frame this present administration in a negative light.
If no confidence existed, bond markets would have already collapsed. The opposite, however, is true.
