This gal had just come from Church. I'm sure Jesus would be so pleased. Holy Crap!
Wow...just wow. Black men being gunned down in the street. She's right...black men are being gunned down every single day...BY OTHER BLACK MEN. Police are not "gunning down" anyone. Racism does exist, but it is in the tiniest fraction of law enforcement.

Everyone who has sense is beginning to see just how ignorant most liberals in America are and how gullible that a high percentage of america is.

Also why in the heck do we have 599 pages to wade through on politics when there are multiple issues being discussed? Should there not be a Political board with threads just like the other 10 we have that don't get discussion? How is it more important to have threads about "Can you swim" or "Ghost busters trailer", but we can't have separate threads on important issues? Crap gets slung in political threads, but stupidity is still abound in other threads as well.

For what reason do the Black Panthets think they need to be armed? Sounds more like they are just lookin for trouble. Hope the
Powers that be tell them not going to happen.

I'll always say the JHB4UK Paddock plan is best. 4 threads, & 4 threads only:

1)Politics
2)GYERO
3)Wrestling
4)airthing else

"Those who have been marveling at Donald Trump's political showmanship were given a reminder of who is the top showman of them all, when President Barack Obama went on television to make a pitch for his unilateral actions to restrict gun sales and make a more general case for tighter gun control laws.

It was beautifully choreographed, like a great ballet, and performed with consummate skill and understated eloquence. First of all, the scene was set with a room full of people who had lost loved ones to gun violence. A father whose son had been gunned down made a long introduction before the president showed up, walked down the aisle and up on to the stage to growing applause.

As political theater, it put Donald Trump's rantings in the shade.

As for the substance of what Obama said, there was very little substance, and much of it false, but one of the signs of great artistry was that the presentation overshadowed the substance.

None of the things proposed by the president is likely to reduce gun violence. Like other restrictions on people's ability to defend themselves, or to deter attacks by showing that they are armed, these new restrictions can cost more lives on net balance. The most we can hope for is that the effects of the new Obama-created rules will be nil, rather than harmful.

Like most other gun control advocates, President Obama invoked scenes of mass shootings, as if what he is proposing would have prevented those tragedies. But, almost invariably, mass shootings occur in gun-free settings. Yet gun control zealots seem determined to create more gun-free settings.

How often have supposedly mentally unbalanced shooters opened fire at a meeting of the National Rifle Association? They are apparently not that mentally unbalanced. They pick places where people are not likely to shoot back.

A mass shooting at a movie theater a few years ago took place at a theater farther away from where the shooter lived than other theaters in the area that were showing the very same movie. The difference was that this theater had advertised that it was a gun-free zone.

Who is more mentally unbalanced, those who are doing the shooting or those who refuse to examine the facts about what kinds of places attract such shooters? Schools and religious institutions are sitting ducks, and the shootings there have gone on until someone else with a gun showed up on the scene. That is what puts an end to the carnage, not gun control laws.

People who are prepared to defy the laws against murder are not very likely to be stopped by laws against guns. Only law-abiding citizens are likely to be stopped by gun control laws, and to become sitting ducks.

As for facts and statistics, the only ones likely to be mentioned by gun control zealots, including the media, are those on how many people were killed by guns. How many lives were saved by guns will never make it through the ideological filters of the media, the political establishment or our educational institutions.

Yet factual data on how many threats or attacks were deterred in a given year by displaying a firearm have long been available. Seldom is it necessary to actually pull the trigger to get some thug or criminal to back off and go elsewhere, often in some haste.

Are the only lives that matter those that are lost, usually because there is no gun immediately available to protect them, but not the lives saved because they did have a gun at hand to protect them?

Gun control zealots seem especially opposed to people being allowed to carry their guns concealed. But concealed weapons protect not only those who carry them, but also to some extent those who do not, because criminals have no way of knowing in advance who does and does not have a gun.

Muggings and rapes become much more dangerous activities for criminals where many law-abiding people are allowed to carry concealed guns. It can take a lot of the fun out of being a thug.

President Obama said that we are the only "advanced" nation with so much gun violence. But there are a number of countries with higher murder rates than ours and stronger gun control laws. But that leaves the definition of "advanced" to Obama — and makes for clever political theater." - Thomas Sowell (oppressed, yet educated, black man)

I just tuned in to what I believe is the Dallas memorial service....this should be a hoot. We'll see if the police get a word in.

I agree with every bit of this.

good line here:

Thus we've come full circle and on of the true intents behind this madness.

Good ole gun grab.

George Soros and the anarchist left that basically fund the fake protest and rally the neighborhoods want to use gun intimidation as a means to apply pressure on the gun lobby. Scare the public into forcing tyrannical gun laws.

Well this is very unprofessional. He has repeated himself multiple times, contradicted himself a bit, and been talking CHANGE the last 5+ minutes...he has said the same stuff 3x.

Yea, Obama is being very inappropriate right now. This service is not for the 2 guys who got shot by the cops and it should not be a time to spout his gun control nonsense.

You could tell the folks in uniform behind him were ticked by it, they all but stopped clapping once he went off on his political theatre BS.

He's good, and that's the bad part. If you speak on *everything* the people can't get mad, especially if you contradict yourself. You're bulletproof to the media, or anybody who tries to question your motives.

yes, being good means when it matters most, have no substance at all.

We were already sure . . . truly.

I knew he was a POS in 2006, when I read his book as a state senator. Nothing worse than uneducated voters canceling out the informed populous. That's what happened in 2008.

The weirdest part to me, and I'm a nimrod, was the beginning with the holy men, or whatever.

When I turned it on, it was a Muslim preacher talking that religion stuff, for equality, he speaks for all, for we all worship the same god and whatever whatever....Well said. No harm no foul. I thought it was weird to have a Muslim saying this at a memorial service for 5 white cops, and there was one particular male cop on the far right sode of the shot who was visibly angry, but whatever.Seemed odd, but ok, whatever, it's obviously a political move to show "equality". Well, then a Jewish preacher follows him and he does his thing, which was more specialized and not a worldly message like the Muslim was saying, but it was good. Now I'm all sports of confused. What's the reason for this? The Muslim just summed it all up in a non denominational type of peace speech...which was weird considering what the radical Muslims believe, but I get it, you're a good Muslim and that is a very hot political point. We fn get it.

Anyway. That weirded me out, and I just wondered if I missed the beginning where other denominations spoke? I assume so, and it wasn't just a Muslim and Jew because that really weird and not equal or fair at all.

And what did he quote? It was something odd about giving someone a heart....this was after the part where he was praising America for coming together and progressing, then he turned right around and lectured the country for many minutes on how we're still racist (and you know this!!!! ...he said that lmao) and we gotta do better, and blablalala, then he dropped that scripture that basically said "here, I will give you a new heart and you change and be a good loving human" just furthering this notion that Obama is some sort of nobel peace prize ;) winning world savior sent here to heal the cruel and dark hearts of the American people, and learn to love. It was fn rich and pathetic.
