You can be salty all you like but it doesn't change the fact that the current incarnation of the Republican party is old and white. Millennials and minorities make up a larger and larger share of the electorate every year. Both lean heavily Democratic. You can enjoy your long life as a political minority, or try to reform your party into something more palatable to a diverse electorate.
I’m a democrat and they have no message that appeals to me either. I’d much rather stick with Trump than be steered way left. At least with him we know what we’re getting. Some dumb gaffes at rallies, regular twitter meltdowns, and lots of cringe-worthy quotes - but nothing harmful. He’s at worst net neutral, which is totally acceptable from a POTUS.

It’d be nice to have a don’t give a shit attitude, but some of us don’t have kids yet, and would prefer they aren’t forced to attend leftist cesspools when we do.

And Trumps tax cuts had a big impact on some of us. My wife owns her own business. We only had to pay tax on 80% of her income, at lower rates.
Both of us work in professional service industries heavily impacted by federal government regulation.
I drive across a bridge every day that’s going to fall into the river because the federal government taxes the hell out of the citizenry, and won’t give it back to build a bridge until the states comply with the federal strings.
Etc. etc.
It’s easy to say who gives a shit, but a lot of what comes out of Washington impacts a lot of us.
As people get older they wise up, change and become more conservative so, our base continues to replenish itself. We got that going for us which is nice.

Trump has high negatives but when the other side is pitching raising taxes, open borders, praising China and Iran it gets mitigated.
