I agree. Unfortunately these huge corporation control politicians and make policy. I don't know who Walmart is listening to but I doubt it is their customers. Fortunately I live in a small community that has more guns shops than department stores or mega stores. I can buy anything legal on the spot because of my relationship with the gun shop owner, one who is on our county board of commissioners. But everyone does not have that luxury and they need protection to buy what I can buy One time Walmart was their source and that is going away. The next shooting Walmart will eliminate something else.

Making some pretty big generalizations there about urban areas being the only areas that "depend on the government for their free stuff." There are many sections of country that are rural that take the free stuff just as quickly and many of them are in some pretty red states. Funny how you only think it's a big city problem. Farmers also say hello for the handouts. Which side do you think the farmers fall on more of the time? You can be mad about our welfare state, but let's be honest about it and realize that both republicans and democrats have their hands out.

I think you way over-estimate what firearms sales adds to their bottom line. Oh, and companies are very much into making social statements...that's why they donate money to different causes. My employer (a publicly held, Fortune 500 company) encourages us to do volunteer work and allows us 2 paid days/yr to do it. Directors are graded on the participation rates for their reports.
And you know that the Walton family owns 50% of Walmart stock, they are on the BoD so they are obviously on board with the move...trying to sue you would have no standing. Best you could do is sell your stock.
And seeing that Walmart's stock was up on a day that the market dropped nearly 300 points...Wall Street must see it as a good move.
