Most Jews in America are not conservative how it’s defined in the USA. Most aren’t fully practicing. Many do not observe shabot and most only go to temple when there is a wedding or bar mitzvah. Many observe major holiday like rosh hashana, Yom Kippur or Passover.

Most Jews in America see themselves independent of Israel. Most who love Israel are in Israel or lived there at some point. Many Jews who live there were not accepted bc perhaps they didn’t speak fluent Hebrew or were no practicing so they went back to the USA.

Jews in Israel are very arrogant and look down on American Jews who have not made Aliya. Even with in Israel the orthodox look down on anyone not orthodox and it continues to different degrees with certain subgroups held in lower regard.

I’ve mentioned this here before, but I had a conversation on this exact topic with a Jewish coworker. She is Jewish to the max. Lived in Israel, will move back there. Surprisingly, she knows I’m not religious at all and that I think some of the shit she believes is crazy, but she is the only person I ever discuss religion with.

Ok hang on. In Judaism “conservative” is not what you might refer to as politically conservative. The “conservative” movement in Judaism is in all reality a liberal or at best a moderate left movement with in Judaism. Conservative vs liberal as you know it in the USA does not apply the same way in Judaism. The orthodox look down on conservatives bc they see them as evolving and constantly changing the law. Most Jews in the USA fall under the conservative movement heading BUT they are not likely to be conservative based on the political definition in the USA.

Most a huge majority of Muslims are not anywhere near liberal in their social views so no your context is incorrect. Every Muslim country on earth is significantly conservative in the true meaning. Any practicing Muslim is the USA is likely very conservative even though they may vote democrat. You are correct that it is all relative to geography in the case of Bernie Sanders as you mentioned his politics in most countries are leftist but a few they may view him on the right. Although he is a populist and would move wherever he needed to in order to gain power.

Honestly it’s like this. The USA and Europe are by far the most liberal places on earth. In comparative economics liberal is ascribed to open markets. In politics democracy and socially, equality, freedom of religion, speech, etc. Israel in my view and the view of Jews in Israel is a liberal nation. The orthodox want to change it which is why they are having a helluva time consolidating the right in order to back Netanyahu. Americans have blinders on bc the media drums up these terms based in fallacy. Most countries don’t define movements as liberal as conservative. You just cannot acknowledge bias and its effects due to convenient ignorance or more likely because you like the effect of the influence for the Dems. Equating the biased news channels to content put out on entertainment outlets like ESPN, Showtime, HBO, and Netflix is moronic but it is how you choose to process info to conflate what is obvious. We watch the same stuff I think and of the 4 above all have gone signficantly more political over the past 5 years or so and 100% of their issue or political commentary is to the left and the amount is growing. HBO has added 3 liberal shows in the past year or so. Showtime has a Fox hit piece series on now, btw.
