The other issue noone talks about in education:
The societal shift in gender of educators. Traditionally teachers were women who were a secondary income in the home. Biologically Women are much more suited to the position in terms of grade school. They just are.
Plus the secondary income was always viewed as bonus to the home (in an era where most women didn't work) while also allowing them to be home with their kids on days without school.
Fast forward. Not that way anymore. Now marriage is virtually non-existent/temporary. Add in that many women seek other jobs. So you're left with many men in these positions and whomever is working them (either sex) it's probably needed as the primary/sole source of income.
Combine that with the already insane union protection they get, and you see why we have some of the worst teaching candidates in American history

Dept of Education needs to be dismantled. It's useless
In Florida a teacher quit because she would not give 50% grade for students who did not complete or do assignments. She wanted to give them 0%. School said no and she quit.
That would make a hell of a news story. Shame nobody is covering it.
Hell, media will spend a week on a tweet from some celebrity.
Here we have a company worth a gallizion dollars, sent the swat team, fbi, bomb squad, etc. to an employees house because he was “suicidal”. They surrounded his home with guns, helicopters, sniper rifles, bomb robots, etc..and ordered him to come out with his hands up. Standard procedure when you’re worried someone is feeling suicidal.

The education system in this country is working exactly as it was planned to work. It doesn't matter if a certain percentage of kids graduate without knowing how to read. The ones that do know how will get jobs and be productive enough to have 30% of their paycheck stolen from them to provide them a life.
