Libs won't win the Presidency for a long time with the way they are trending. I mean barring some disaster or breakdown on the right, we could see a run of 2-3 more Pub Presidents post Trump.
Not sure they're going to hold on to the house or gain any significant advantage in any chamber going forward.
I'm chalking the past mid-term up to a bunch of sane people not quite on board with Trump but not totally aware of which way the libs were trending...they've trended to the edge of the abyss and are about to tip over it.
Moderate dems, independents, libertarians, sane people of all colors and creeds I think now know that libs are going down a dangerous path. These folks may not like Trump but I think overall they still would like their country to not go down the shitter. A lot may throw up their hands exasperated and sit the next couple voting rounds out, some are going to start voting pub.
We may eventually see a great schism on the left and the formation of a third party.
The feral anarchist wing will either come out of the closet and shed the (D) altogether, or they'll keep posing and hijack it thus forcing all the reasonable moderates to start forming an (M) party.
His twitter feed and my wife. They aren’t close now. They were at one point. They still follow each other on social media and converse a few times a year.
I guess his retweeting and tweets she’s shown me just get under my skin. Total lack of logical thinking applied.
I hope I am wrong but I think you are underestimating the power of the media.
I think the media is underestimating the power of the American people and their desire for the country to remain, well, America. Hell, they are ignoring them altogether and focusing on a few radicals and their relatively few but disproportionately loud zealot followers.
If this country wanted to be a some warped romanticized version of what the radical few are peddling, we would be.
If the Democratic party was real serious about leaping off the left edge, Bernie would have been their nominee last time around and they would not have twisted Joe Biden's arm to come out of retirement. They'd have cleared the deck for Warren and Bernie to duke it out.
I think that is the clear strategy behind working with the Dems to paint all Reps as radicals to counter that. DT did very well with suburban white women last time. He will need to come close to that again in those key states or siphon more latino and black voters.

Man I really really hope you are right, but I fear you are not. Between the media and school system liberal indoctrination, I feel like conservatism is fighting a losing battle. Eventually libs will get back in power and that will probably be all she wrote. I just want to try to deny the inevitable for as long as I can at this point.

You can say the same thing about the entire country. This country is a wonderful place to live! Other countries may do some things better, but in my opinion this is overall the best place in the world to live. Yet, for some reason, you have half of the country that want to fundamentally change literally EVERYTHING. It blows my mind.
I wish the Republicans could get on the same damn page the way the Democrats are.
The Dems have the power of illusion. They control the media and social media so their ideologies and backing seem larger than what they are.
Me too but it makes sense why we don't. Liberals are lemmings and subject to group think. They can't really think for themselves so they just follow the leader. That's why they rarely disagree with one another because they don't even attempt to use logic or reason. Just emotion and what makes them feel good. Conservatives on the other hand are more free thinking. We analyze the crap out of everything and put serious thought into potential outcomes. Unfortunately this opens the door for a significant amount of disagreement, which keeps us divided.
2 things here.
1. This guy has every right to protect his property and family by any means necessary.

It's the old game that's played out since living organisms evolved, and then eventually became man who then developed society. The clash of differences, ideas, etc...
It's intensified here lately as the world has shrunk with technology, media, 24/7 live feed/stream, hash tag this and that...but it's always been around...nothing new...
As far as modern times. School and media have always been liberal.
That's where liberalism thrives. Bubbles. Coastal and port cities, college campuses, Hollywood. Social Media.
It has it's strongholds no doubt. But we all saw the last electoral map. Red with some blue blemishes. America is a big chunk of land with a lot of people.
People by in large clearly want America to be America, some tweaks here and there left and right. But nobody want's to run off the edge in either direction.

I haven't - the only TV I have watched since the shootings are golf, NASCAR, WWE, Seinfeld, and a couple of movies on HBO and Netflix.

The media can't influence me because I pay them no attention. Pretty much all the news I get comes from this thread or the occasional blurb on my home page that interests me. I don't use Twitter or Facebook, don't listen to any talking heads, etc. Some of the posters here spend hours a day on Twitter - those are the types of people being influenced by idiots.

This is my problem with “conservative” news outlets. Not even they act like journalists and ask questions that they need to be asked. The do the exact same thing “liberal” news outlets do....spew stupid opinions and defend those stupid opinions. Nobody deals in facts, and it’s all detrimental to the citizens. It all helps to further the goal of the current left - divide and conquer the US.
It’s why trump won. He questioned the system, questioned the leaders on both sides of the aisle and addressed real issues that neither republicans nor democrats would address. Mainly jobs and immigration.
I read a pretty nicely balanced piece in the LA Times where the police chief basically said that it seemed pretty clear that if the shooter didn't write the manifesto, he sure as hell agreed with all the talking points. The article talked about the shooter's background - pretty typical mass-shooter type: didn't have any friends, picked on as a kid, probably on the spectrum, not a lot of hope for the future, crappy job. Loser.
WE DONT CARE WHAT OR HOW MUCH YOU WATCH WE CARE THAT THE MEDIA IS PURE SHIT AND CREATING FALSE NARRATIVES IN VIEWERS THAT VOTE FOR OUR LEADERS.
