No.

This is my problem with “conservative” news outlets. Not even they act like journalists and ask questions that they need to be asked. The do the exact same thing “liberal” news outlets do....spew stupid opinions and defend those stupid opinions. Nobody deals in facts, and it’s all detrimental to the citizens. It all helps to further the goal of the current left - divide and conquer the US.

It’s why trump won. He questioned the system, questioned the leaders on both sides of the aisle and addressed real issues that neither republicans nor democrats would address. Mainly jobs and immigration.
It doesn't matter, the media got what they wanted out of the El Paso shooting. Any clarification at this point will be ignored. See Parkland.

The media can't influence me because I pay them no attention. Pretty much all the news I get comes from this thread or the occasional blurb on my home page that interests me. I don't use Twitter or Facebook, don't listen to any talking heads, etc. Some of the posters here spend hours a day on Twitter - those are the types of people being influenced by idiots.

You and I may not be influenced by it, but millions of people and politicians that make our laws are heavily influenced by it.

I’m about as disgusted as I’ve ever been by the state of this nation. Not by Trumps actions, but by the complete toxicity of the left in this country. I know it means very little, but I’m about to the point I don’t want that segment to have any day so what so ever over my life. I have zero in common or self interest with them.

Agreed. I haven't seen nor heard Trump do or say anything that could be attributed to these senseless acts of violence. The fact that he is apparently being pushed as a potential cause is terrible and harmful.

I read a pretty nicely balanced piece in the LA Times where the police chief basically said that it seemed pretty clear that if the shooter didn't write the manifesto, he sure as hell agreed with all the talking points. The article talked about the shooter's background - pretty typical mass-shooter type: didn't have any friends, picked on as a kid, probably on the spectrum, not a lot of hope for the future, crappy job. Loser.

He may have, the point is we don’t know that, and it’s dangerous to just run with something from the internet minutes after a shooting.

WE DONT CARE WHAT OR HOW MUCH YOU WATCH WE CARE THAT THE MEDIA IS PURE SHIT AND CREATING FALSE NARRATIVES IN VIEWERS THAT VOTE FOR OUR LEADERS.

I see posts on here all the time about how hardly anybody is watching CNN or MSNBC anymore and Fox News just keeps growing.

Soooo, the liberal media either has widespread influence (about half a percent of Americans watch CNN or MSNBC at night) or it doesn't. Which is it?

As your intellectual, moral, and physical superior what do I have to gain from your barking? I must be in good company since arrogance is your God-Emperor's defining feature.

Wait though. Did this police chief have any real evidence of the kids thoughts on immigration? Or was it just speculation?

Individual networks may be struggling here and there but overall impact of all the media is massive. I use twitter for news, watching narratives develop in real time and spread to drop in catpaw posters is awful and amazing. It is the JournOlist from 2008 out in the open. Particularly the trending beliefs of young people and how they get their narratives is scary as shit. An outlet none of us really know of like NowThis has 2m followers of mostly millennials and is 100% left wing garbage. There is a massive echo chamber out there creating "news" and trying to bully anyone that challenges it.

The time for pleasant discourse is OVER.

As someone posted on here recently, they don't deserve a seat at the table anymore.

Fox News might be the number one rated news channel. They have more viewers than CNN and they have more viewers than MSNBC, but they don't have more viewers than those two combined. The question is how many of those CNN/MSNBC viewers are jumping back and forth, thus being counted for each, (kinda like when they vote).

The point being, Fox may have a right wing slant, but even that's in question outside of the nighttime roundup of Carlson, Hannity and Ingraham. There's just not anywhere else on TV for conservatives to go. Conservatives have talk radio and that's about it. It's a dangerous situation with the media to the point I about half believe the conspiracy theories that we are heading down some Orwellian 1984 path.

Liberals - It's public info. So there's nothing at all wrong with rounding it up, packaging it and distributing to the mob to be used for nefarious causes.

Me - Well since something being in public record gives us carte blanche to wield as a political weapon then why don’t we tape everyone’s civil and criminal cases up at the local market. I mean isn’t it my right to know what kind of heathens I’m living next to? And punish them as I see fit?

The media is a problem and I hate the extremism we have projected onto viewers/readers. But we live in a time where we have sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants and politicians trying to cash in on mass shootings (see Kamala Harris). If you were to ask me, the real issue is the hijacking of the democrat party and the politicians within it letting it happen.

I’m obviously far from a democrat, but I could at least understand where the vast majority were coming from in the 90’s. To my knowledge you didn’t see them or the media outlets pandering to extremists like they do today. In 1995 someone like AOC would have been told to shut the hell up by fellow democrats because she’s making the whole party look stupid. Now they blacklist anyone that sounds even moderate. If you’re not all in on isms and bans, then you’re out because that’s all they run on now.

Right wing extremism is bad too, but I just don’t see many what I’d call extremists within the party being promoted at the moment. And if there are they aren’t too popular with anyone because I don’t know who they are. If the equivalent of extreme left happens within the right... we may as well hang it up.

I fear the democrat party is too far gone and will only become more extreme. And if (more likely when) they get back in power, I think you’ll see the issue of the government vs the will of the people, and they won’t give a damn what you or I want or think.

Just my 2¢ on a billion dollar topic.

I’m just really hoping there’s a major setback in deep fake technology before the 2020 elections. The left and media blatantly makes up shit about Trump as is. Can’t imagine what’s going to happen when they can create fake videos of Trump saying things, then spend hours dissecting what was said in the video.

He said that the shooter held nothing back in the interview and it aligned with the alleged manifesto. Seemed credible. But who knows.

The time for pleasant discourse is OVER.

I have Facebook but I almost never post anything political because I have friends and family on there who are to the left. I've just never felt it was worth it to get into arguments. Likewise in my personal life I never talk politics. But I'm getting to the point to where I feel it's my duty to speak out. I've always been a live and let live person, but if people like me don't stand up and start making noise, this country as we know it will be lost. It may already be, but I don't think I should go down without a fight. The left has gone too far and everyone needs to start speaking out against it.

I thought this was a really good video. I think it really shows the drastic viewpoints of the younger generation and the progressives vs many conservatives and classical liberals. As a millennial I will admit I know many people with this viewpoint. Nothing is never their fault, all their issues and troubles are because of other people.

I find this funny/sad because when you look at the democratic debates, its basically just a race to see who can promise the most free stuff. I don't throw in classical liberals with this group because they can still listen to JFK say "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" and buy in 100%.

That line from JFK (one of his most famous) spits directly in the face of the progressives and democrats of today. The country is evil, all your issues have to do with the country failing you, not because of any poor decisions you've made. The country isn't doing enough for you.

Whenever I see stuff like this, it always reminds me of this video

I actually know people like this. My dad's girlfriend's kid is married to a daughter to a super wealthy businessman (created Crocs and other a few other things) and she grew up in San Fran. Ive met his daughter a few times, my god its impossible to listen to her. She called herself an ally I don't know how many times, constantly talked about how she helps out the black community because most black people aren't capable of handling money and making correct decisions. Honestly was one of the most racists things I had/have ever witnessed in person. But she thought she was so anti racist because of it. Soft bigotry of low expectations.

To be fair, most white people in California aren't as stupid as the people in this video. But I don't think it took him too long to find people like this in his video in the Berkeley area. Lots of rich kids in the San Fran area are like this.

Im in the minority on this, I personally hate doing this via executive order. As someone that works in the tech world, I do think the laws haven't caught up to tech, I do think some kind of checks and balances need to be put in place (like we did with monopoly laws). Executive orders aren't the way to do it though.

My god this is crazy

There's more to the twitter thread but this is why McConnells account was locked?

So McConnells account was locked because he posted a video of people outside his house threatening violence against him?

This seems so ass backwards to me.

Mitch: Hey everyone here is video of people talking about wanting to kill me.

Twitter: Yes without a doubt that is not allowed on our platform

Mitch: Great thank you for taking action

Twitter: Ban the victim in the video

This is essentially what just happened. This makes 0 sense.

"Fox News Channel attracted more prime-time viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined last week, adding to its streak as the most-watched basic cable network.

Fox News averaged 2.3 million viewers during the hours of 8-11 p.m. ET from June 10-16, while MSNBC finished second with an average of 1.5 million. HGTV, A&E and USA joined them among the top five, while CNN averaged just 744,000 to finish 14th.
