There is no other motive to do that, other than to get those people harassed or harmed. I can't stand the other side politically but whoever you support you should be able to support them without any fear.

I have never said this on here, due to some feelings of shame haha...but I come from a democratic family. I am literally the only conservative I know (and I was a Dem until my mid 20's) in the entire family. I'm talking siblings, cousins, parents...my grandfather who died when I was 7 I think was a big Republican but other that...my Dad, who has voted for every Dem presidential candidate since the 1960's, gives thousands yearly to dem candidates (although their recent march way leftward has left him disturbed but he hates Trump). One of the most prominent KY Dems in the last 25 years was in the family and no I'm no going to say who...

The reason I'm saying all this, is that while most of my family has political views I have grown to find ridiculous...most of them are rational, good people who ought to be able to donate to who they choose and support publicly who they want to support without being harrassed or bullied or intimidated.

Whether it is the link above or stories about kicking Republicans out of restaurants, spitting on one of Trump's kids, media like CNN doxing and trying to shame little every day citizens who happen to be Trump supporters, the treatment of the Covington kid...the other side is creeping everyday into normalizing political intimidation and harassment. Trump should be criticized for some of his rhetoric no doubt, but nothing he has said or done...and nothing his supporters have said or done is as dangerous as we have seen from the media against him, antifa, the people outside McConnell's house etc.
A political figure (media or a politician) is going to get killed if this insanity doesn't stop. Then again that might be what these people want.

Im not sure if Im conflating the Red Flag gun law with another. But I believe I red that the person who files the complaint must be a close relative or someone that lives with the person.

Here's the thing about so called red flag laws. I was born and raised in Louisville before moving to Florida in '04.

In '03, Memorial day weekend, I went to a pig roast party at Rough River Lake in Breckinridge County (Hardinsburg), which was a dry County back then. And, of course, I happened to get cited by the Game Warden for open container and fishing without a license.

Several months later I moved to Florida, completely forgetting about my court date. Still, to this day, I have a FTA (failure to appear) bench warrant. I was made aware of this in '07 when completing the necessary steps to get my independent contractor (roofing) license and then again a couple years later when completing the necessary steps to get my Florida CCW.

I have contacted the Breckinridge County Clerk on four different occasions to explain my situation over the years. The penalty for my citations total a measly $170.

Problem is, they won't accept payment over phone, through mail, etc... They want me to hire a lawyer, have him put my case back on the docket, show up to the new court date, then pay the fine. I've politely told them to piss off every time, that that's never going to happen because I'm in Florida, the warrant is petty and isn't extraditable, so you're basically saving me $170.

If the red flag laws get implemented my situation could potentially be used to against me. Not only could they flag me and refuse to sell me any new firearms, but they could also have my Florida CCW revoked and confiscate the firearms I do own, all because of a $170 fine that a podunk county is refusing to accept payment by mail.

Those advocating for this please explain to me how that's going to stop the next mass shooting? Or how the law won't be abused in this way? Or how it's a fair proceeding and not a violation of my rights?

I agree with you 100% here. Seems like something that could totally be abused by agencies to deny rights to good people.

That said, this is a good excuse to not flake on a court date, even for a petty offense. Can always come back to haunt you.

Here’s a question. Are people with mental illness any less of a person? I mean how can anyone advocate taking away constitutional rights of a person with an illness? Now if the mentally I’ll individual makes some kind of threat that’s different level shit but bc a person suffers from a disease should not enable the government to strip them of rights

I agree but technically I didn't flake. Literally completely forgot. The first I was ever made aware of this was in '07 and by that time it was too late.

I'm not avoiding responsibility. I have zero problems paying the fine. I've practically begged them to take my money. It's not my fault they do things backwards.

Typical backwoods county process to not just take your payment. Total waste of time and money (yours AND theirs) to make the dumb request they have.

Guess I'll start checking out the Political Thread when I need a recipe for fowl. Just kidding.

BTW. For duck and goose make sure to prick the skin to render the fat before cooking.

There are daily calls for violence against liberals and immigrants in this thread completely openly. But no poor wittle white males are in danger because of my of scary dog whistles...

The Dayton shooter had a hit list and a rape list in high school. He was in a band called the Menstrual Munchers and sang about raping and killing women.

I don’t think video games were the issue. Donald Trump certainly was not the issue.

This kid has been a goddam psycho for years, and taking away everyone else’s guns is not going to fix the problem.

We need to stop accepting the mentally ill as “quirky” or “unique” and addressing mental illness ass the disease it is.

If it was measles or mumps most would be on board.
No one is saying violent video games are the whole issue, it is just a part of desensitizing like many other things that are part of the norm. Yes, a 2 parent man and woman home goes a long way in normal development of a child to adult.

Utterly terrifying to think that the same people who want to provide abortion access to men would have the ability to determine if what I believe is a mental illness.
