All the issues you mentioned we're much further along now than then. Women's rights - check. Managing our environment - check. Communication - check. Life of a soldier - check. Advanced tech - check. We're more advanced in every area, and stating the fact that we have further to go on these subjects doesn't negate all the progress we've made, it validates it. Humans are so far from perfect we have a long way to go. But that doesn't mean you stop trying, as @SomeDudeCRO likes to repeat, the average person has it better today than at any other point in history. How far we've come, from small family hunter/gatherer groups, to Gobekli Tepe, to Uruk/Sumer, to transcontinental empires, to the modern internet-connected world, should be inspirational reason to keep striving for progress, not as justification to rest easy on our laurels cause we have it so good.Kudos for mentioning Cyrus the Great
There’s a huge cylinder in the Chicago museum of history that is covered in what looks like cuneiform....it details the Persian diplomatic activities after vanquishing the Babylonians and setting their Jewish (etc) slaves free to return home
I can’t prove it to you - and it doesn’t quite reach the level of conviction for me....but I believe that some of those older civilizations had spiritual powers- possibly the ability to levitate objects- types of electrical power - and city-states that would over shadow our greatest capitals in terms of splendor/ wealth and majesty
As for “progressing” we’re herky- jerkey about How we move forward in my opinion
We get better at empowering women ..::but then we have significant factions that assert that a man can be a woman ....simply by insisting that he is....and THREATEN you if you don’t go along (never mind the obvious damage to legit civil rights movements and other catch 22s that arise)
We try to become more aware of wildlife around us but then celebrate or turn a blind eye to “aborting” a full term baby....or promoting euthanasia for teens and the elderly (as is the case in prtsnof Europe)
We get better at transmitting data at the speed of light - but we adopt regressive and unsound approaches to public health and see hepatitis/ typhus outbreaks in a place like California
We somehow spend trillions on constantly upgrading our weaponry to the point of ridiculousness.....but can’t figure out why veterans are committing suicide at the rate they are
We innovate with visual cloaking - genetic manipulation- and electromagnetic propulsion.....but we have growing homeless populations and people without enough to eat
We beat Louisville and North Carolina
But the ncaa turns a blind eye to Zion and the Kansas wiretaps that link his recruitment to PAYOLA.....and still Duke isn’t questioned
Have I mentioned that I full blown HATE the North Carolina Tar Heels lately??
Admit to academic fraud....
And I’ll be DAMNED if Missouri football doesn’t get a one year bowl ban for it
Herky Jerky progress i tell ya![]()

But idiots do hide their transcripts from Ivy League Schools, use their silver spoon, daddy’s inheritance, and multiple bankruptcies to build a global business sham, and screw around with porn stars on their model wives.yeah, I like when folks use narcissist and emotional to describe Trump...
They can be applied to a lot of billionaires, successful people in general, hollywood types, media personalities, athletes, movement founders/leaders, talk show hosts, vloggers, bloggers, anyone with social media who think the world should care what they have to say because their "truth" is "unique"...
As for calling people names like mentally challenged idiots, when you have to start name calling you've lost the argument and have nothing productive to add.
Idiots don't graduate from Ivy league schools, build global businesses or date models...

When examining the entire scope of history our lives are the same under Trump as they would have been under Hillary. Neither candidate was running on or would have implemented broad, sweeping change for the commoners. As y'all have pointed out Trump policy-wise would have been a Democrat twenty years ago. Neocons and neoliberals are both just corporatist shills. Hillary would have made sure to take care of her donor elites just like Trump did with the tax cut. So no, orange man bad, not good. Hillary bad too. With Trump we just cut out the middle step of billionaires buying politicians and directly elected the billionaire. So orange man good

You have valid points mixed in with mis...ht wing nut jobs today. If you dispute that you can look up and actually watch President Eisenhower give his farewell speech. I suggest you do that anyway as he was far more prescient than people give him credit for.
Pretty soon you might have enough to move out of your sticker covered van!So basically Bernie!!!!! Wooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Dion
My life has transformed under Trump's tax change. TRANSFORMED. I have more money than I know what do with it. I just keep stocking away. Maybe buy a few more AR15s. Hoping a new civil war happens so I can shoot liberals legally
So in re-reading this part --
"As far as your fear of Marxism, I'll consider that to be a threat when the fascist plutocratic lurch we are currently seeing is put down."
You use the word fear - and there's an element of that - but it's not the best word
Revulsion at the Marx/Engels principles / what's been forgotten / and dread of history repeating itself.........
but that's not really my point with this post
are you basically identifying me as a class enemy?
as in -- once your primary target is 'put down' ....that the 'dictatorship of the proletariat' will naturally and it's use of force,......will basically be coming for me and people like me?
Surely that's not what you meant
But it kind of could be read that way
I just want to make sure

I'm sure you'll readily admit that none of these things will have a chapter in a future history book. Thanks for splitting some hairs and trying to obfuscate though.Respectfully - there were some pgm's and actions taken that DID impact commoners
This admin expanded PTSD support and health care coverage for veterans with less than honorable discharges and also set up a program to coordinate with the Canadian V/A so that data on PTSD stricken soldiers could be compared with both sides benefitting......
HBCU's were also given extra attention so that the Dept of Education is tasked with supporting the ideas and tech developments stemming from those historically black institutions ..... to help ensure that their ideas are more quickly shared and coordinated with govt agencies and other industry players
and HEMP farming has been de-criminilized for the first time -- ever
articles are popping up ALL OVER THE PLACE about new business efforts around Knoxville - London, Ky and other rural regions ---- who are now at the forefront of one of the hottest new industries in the US

Hasnt transformed...but its MY money...and I'll be more responsible with it and spend it more wisely than any government would.Your life has transformed with a few extra grand? That’s a night at the casino.
It would take 6 figures to make a significant change in my life. If you’re saving $100k a year in taxes compared to 2017, I’m not sure why you waste time posting here.
No in fact I don't think in those terms. So in re-reading this part --
